OFFICINE PANERAI – PAM01784 LUMINOR Tourbillon GMT Skeleton Titanium 47mm - 2026
Panerai proudly introduces the new Luminor Tourbillon PAM01784, a new high-end watch where Maison’s historical vocabulary connects with a contemporary, cutting-edge high complexity.
Housed in a 47mm titanium case, a historic Panerai size that recalls timepieces supplied to the Italian Navy in the 1960s, the Luminor Tourbillon PAM01784 opens its architecture to the eye, revealing the motion and mechanical intricacies of the P.2005/T hand-wound calibre: a six-day tourbillon GMT movement with blue Grade 5 titanium bridges, three spring barrels, GMT Traveler function, angular power reserve indication, and a domed sapphire crystal appearing for the first time on this high watchmaking configuration within the Panerai collection. Every function of the PAM01784 contributes to the visual experience, and each detail is part of a system designed for performance, readability, and usability.

First developed in 2005, Panerai’s tourbillon reinterprets one of watchmaking’s most fascinating high complications through a historically patented innovation that enhances chronometric performance. Unlike a traditional tourbillon, whose cage usually completes one rotation in sixty seconds, the Panerai tourbillon rotates in thirty seconds and on an axis perpendicular to that of the balance. This specific horizontal construction allows the mechanism to compensate more effectively for rate variations caused by gravity, supporting a more even running of the movement. Assembling such a complex mechanism requires considerable technical expertise, which is directly reflected in the time required to assemble one cage: 7 times longer than that needed to assemble a simple movement. With this innovation Panerai showcases a strong commitment to precision, pushing watchmaking boundaries while remaining faithful to a legacy of functionality.

“With this new timepiece, we are once again reinterpreting our historic codes in an innovative design. Our legacy lives through the 47mm size of the case, the domed sapphire crystal, the hand-wound calibre and 6-day power reserve, while innovation unfolds through the case and calibre’s material choice: Grade 5 titanium, combined with our historically patented horizontal tourbillon. PAM01784 brings accuracy to the next level, offering also a wide set of useful functions, including the GMT traveler function, the power reserve and tourbillon indicators and the small seconds sub-dial. This is not a mere watch, it is a reliable instrument for any modern challenge” says Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing and Heritage Officer of Panerai.
Panerai’s expertise in power reserve and material innovation, unveils through the handwound P.2005/T calibre, upholding a legacy established in early Panerai watches from the 1950s, when manual calibres were prized for their substantial size — ideal for the 47mm construction — and their superior reliability and shock resistance. P.2005/T calibre offers six-day power reserve achieved through three spring barrels connected in series, whose combined mainspring length totals 1.36 meters, delivering extended autonomy while maintaining reliable energy distribution.

The movement can be fully wound with 68 turns of the crown, translating the calibre’s power into a direct, physical gesture between watch and wearer. The architecture and positioning of the barrels are based on a historically patented innovation by the Manufacture, underscoring its commitment to mechanical excellence. In this refined construction, the third barrel is positioned laterally alongside the other two, directly engaging with the toothing of one of them while remaining within the same movement thickness, an achievement of both technical ingenuity and spatial efficiency. Furthermore, the third barrel is equipped with a hollow central axis, enabling the direct transmission of information - here, the power reserve display - from one side of the movement to the other.

Inside, the Grade 5 titanium bridges and plates are finished in blue, reducing weight at their very core. Titanium’s density is about half that of brass, which is traditionally used for these components, allowing the calibre to remain lighter while preserving strength and stability. The blue finish is paired here for the first time within the Panerai collection with a titanium case, creating continuity between the watch’s exterior and its inner workings. This material choice for the case, bridges, and plates allows the watch to retain the full presence of Luminor while weighing only approximately 105 grams, providing unexpected lightness on the wrist.

Grade 5 Titanium is a remarkable material, known for its strength and lightness. This material is in fact 60% harder and 44% lighter than stainless steel, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize both resilience and comfort. It is also highly resistant to corrosion, providing robustness and longevity for everyday use.

Panerai’s pioneering work with titanium dates back to 1985, with the introduction of the first Mille Metri prototype in Grade 5 titanium, a robust diving watch with a 47mm titanium case and the iconic crown protecting bridge. Building on this legacy, Panerai officially introduced titanium in his collection in 1998, and has since been guided by an innovative spirit, which led the Maison to explore innovative constructions, such as Titanium DLMS, new forms of coating like Titanium DLC, and new complex expressions like the Forged Titanium, introduced in 2026.

On PAM01784, the complexities are made visible from the front. Unlike a traditional dial, the numerals and indexes are assembled directly on the rehaut, allowing the calibre itself to define the structure of the watch. Through this open design, the wearer can follow the rotation of the tourbillon cage, the interaction of the gear train, and the winding and unwinding of the three barrels, allowing time to be shown as a living mechanical process. A grid motif anchors the exposed movement, bringing another trace of Panerai’s underwater history into the watch. Inspired by the net barriers once stretched beneath naval vessels, it recalls the Italian Navy frogmen who moved through these submerged obstacles during their underwater missions.

Following the movement’s external radius, the immediately readable angular power reserve indicator relies on a dedicated mechanism with over twenty components, including a miniaturized ball differential equipped with three 0.5mm balls. This technical solution allows the power reserve to be displayed without compromising the movement’s integrity. Color is also used with functional intent. The GMT, AM/PM, and power reserve indications are highlighted in orange, a signal color associated with visibility and attention, recalling the buoys of the maritime world. In low-light conditions, these indications glow in blue Super-LumiNova®, while the other elements glow in green, creating a clear distinction between time reading and function reading. At 9 o’clock, the small seconds display incorporates a Tourbillon Indicator that turns at the same speed as the tourbillon. This refers to early Panerai tourbillon models, when the complication was only visible through the caseback, and a small rotating indicator on the dial side indicated it was operational.

This new timepiece also features another functional dimension to the complex movement, the GMT Traveler, also known as True GMT. Designed for those who move across time zones, it allows the local hour hand to jump forward or backward in one-hour increments without affecting the GMT hand. The function is bidirectional and linked to the date, enabling the wearer to adjust local time quickly while keeping home time visible through the 12-hour GMT hand and 24-hour indication. When not traveling, the local and home time hands align to preserve a clean and uncluttered display.
PAM01784’s brushed and polished surfaces frame the 47mm case, while the crown protective bridge stands as one of Panerai’s most recognizable functional codes. Waterresistant to 10 bar (~100 meters), the timepiece upholds a significant standard for a highcomplication watch of this nature. This performance is rigorously validated at the Laboratorio di Idee, where each watch undergoes advanced water-pressure testing that exceeds its guaranteed rating by 25% in machines that combine air and water tests, enabling precise measurement of case deformation and sealing integrity under load.

Completing the watch’s structure is the domed sapphire crystal. Inspired by historic Panerai watches from the 1960s, particularly the aesthetics of references such as the 6152/1, the crystal gives the watch a new sense of perspective. Its curved profile slightly magnifies and shifts the perception of the numerals as the angle changes, creating a dynamic view of the movement beneath it. The application of a domed crystal to a tourbillon timepiece, connects a contemporary high complication with a shape drawn from the Maison’s legacy codes.
The Luminor Tourbillon PAM01784 is paired with a blue alligator strap and comes with a second blue rubber strap. It is completed by a titanium BDR adjustable buckle for the alligator strap and a BA buckle for the rubber strap, designed to allow a more precise fit on the wrist, and presented in Panerai’s premium cherry wooden box with blue finishing.
