Krayon unveils the Anyday in Gradient Sapphires White gold
During an expedition to Greenland, Rémi Maillat and Fei Hou witnessed a parhelion, a rare atmospheric phenomenon in which sunlight, passing through suspended hexagonal ice crystals, is refracted into luminous reflections that appear to flank the sun.

It reveals light not as a fixed presence, but as something that is continually shaped by what it encounters, in much the same way as gemstones, whose beauty is revealed through the refraction of light within their structure.

In Greenland, this play of light unfolded across a landscape of striking contrasts, where ice, sea and sky dissolved into shifting tones of white and blue.

From this encounter with light, landscape and refraction emerged Parhelion, the concept that gave rise to the Gemset watch, distinguished by a gradient of sapphires transitioning from white to deep blue through a series of nuanced shades of blue.
Entering the world of gemstones
Parhelion is not only defined by its 159 baguette-cut gemstones set across the bezel, the case middle, the lugs, the pin buckle.

It is also defined by the Krayon Cut, a unique gemstone cut developed specifically for this creation. At twelve o’clock on the bezel, a single stone introduces this language.

Cut in the same Y-shaped geometry from the Krayon logo, the Krayon Cut is defined by a horizontal table and a bevelled form that extends the brand’s signature into the mineral world. This stone at noon marks the point of maximum light and refers to the parhelion, where one sun appears accompanied by its reflections.

From this reference, white sapphires unfold above it in a gradual arc of daylight, while below, blue sapphires deepen progressively into darker tones. Day and night are expressed through this transition of colour and the way light is returned by the stones.

On the dial, eleven white diamond indices are cut in the shape of the Krayon Cut. Their structure allows for an invisible setting, giving the impression that each stone is floating above the surface of the dial, with a sense of lightness comparable to ice drifting on water. At the centre of the dial, a mother of pearl introduces a soft iridescence. Its surface is never uniform, shifting with light and angle, recalling the sea off the Greenland coast, where icebergs move slowly across changing reflections.

The creation of Parhelion begins long before the watch itself. Sourcing the gemstones alone requires close to a year, with each sapphire carefully selected for its colour, clarity and ability to compose a perfectly balanced gradient from white to deep blue.

The development of the Krayon Cut demanded the same level of precision. Conceived specifically for this creation, its geometry required extensive research to achieve both its distinctive form and its invisible setting.
A new case displaying the sunrise and sunset complication
The 42 mm case is crafted from an alloy of gold and a high proportion of palladium. Naturally white, this material requires no rhodium plating, allowing its colour and brightness to remain entirely intrinsic.

More demanding to machine and finish, it was chosen for its purity and the way it reflects light. Like every element of Parhelion, the case is designed not simply to frame the watch, but to contribute to the overall expression of light that defines the piece.

The lines of gemstones extending across the lugs, bezel and case follow a precise composition. Their angles are directly derived from the longitudes and latitudes of the Earth, transforming the case into a subtle interpretation of a coordinate system.

At the heart of the watch is Krayon's calibre C030, powering the Anywhere complication, which calculates the exact times of sunrise and sunset for any chosen location on Earth. Awarded the Calendar and Astronomy Prize at the GPHG in 2022, the movement is presented here in a Gemset interpretation for the first time.

“With Parhelion, the concept is fully realised. The mechanics find their extension in matter, and the stones complete the dialogue between time, light, and the Earth." — Fei Hou

The inscriptions MIDDAY, MIDNIGHT, SIX AM and SIX PM are displayed in Krayon's signature typography, ensuring clear legibility while preserving the balance of the dial. Every element is designed to support the reading of time and light.

Drawing its design from the atmospheric phenomenon of the parhelion, the watch expresses the Maison's approach, where every aesthetic choice finds its origin in a natural phenomenon and every complication is conceived in dialogue with the rhythms of the Earth.

“Anywhere was born from light. Parhelion allows us to express light differently — not as a decorative effect, but as a component of time itself." — Rémi Maillat
