Panerai ignites the Luminor collection with the launch of the new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, the first-ever combination of a 40mm Luminor case with this renowned material. This addition embodies Panerai’s high-tech expertise in material innovation and its timeless Italian design, capturing the distinctive Luminor aesthetic in a smaller size, enhancing both versatility and contemporary appeal. Staying true to the Luminor signature design, the new PAM01460 features the unmistakable crown protecting device - now crafted in ceramic - along with the dial’s luminosity and its sandwich construction. Celebrated for its exceptional performance, ceramic has become a cornerstone of Panerai’s high-tech material portfolio, introduced for the first time in 2007 with the Radiomir Black Seal Ceramica PAM00292. Its lightweight nature ensures remarkable wearability, while its strong resistance to high temperatures, corrosion and scratches guarantees long-lasting durability. But it is in the creation of Panerai cases that the Maison truly demonstrates its expertise, transforming ceramic into intricate and highly functional professional tool watches and resulting in timepieces that capture the Maison’s sporting yet sophisticated essence.

 The complexity of Panerai’s case design, with its multiple rounded surfaces and emblematic components like the crown guard and lever, is meticulously manufactured to ensure elevated water resistance, achieving up to 30 bar (~300 meters) for the PAM01460. Each timepiece has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to guarantee it meets Panerai’s stringent standards.

Maintaining these features in a high-tech material like ceramic, demands an unparalleled level of technicity and advanced manufacturing processes, an expertise that Panerai guards within its Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Furthermore, extensive research and development have been conducted to reinforce the case’s most exposed and delicate parts, including the lugs. These refinements ensure that the lugs, which experience the most stress during everyday wear, meet Panerai standards for shock resistance.

The Panerai Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460 presents a sophisticated, all-black aesthetic. Encased in 40mm of black ceramic, it features Panerai’s signature sun-brushed sandwich dial in black, with luminous numerals and markers in white Super-LumiNova® X2 for enhanced legibility. A subtle nod to Panerai’s Italian heritage is the “BiTempo” inscription on the dial, the Italian term for “dual time”.

PAM01460 is powered by the automatic P.900/GMT movement, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The caliber, visible through the smoked sapphire crystal open case back, integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions, measuring 12½ lignes (28.2mm) in diameter and only 5.20 mm thick. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel.

Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. Its GMT complication with a 12-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones, the quintessential complication for the most cosmopolitan of explorers.

Available in boutiques starting from October 2025, PAM01460 is complemented by a supple black calf leather strap and an additional black rubber strap, equipped with the PAM Click Release System™ on both strap and buckle, requiring no tool for easy changes, making it versatile for various occasions and styles.
