CUERVO Y SOBRINOS – Historiador Vuelo

Cuervo y SobrinosHISTORIADOR Vuelo Chronograph

“A Myth to the Future”
El tiempo lento… el tiempo vuela…

La Habana in 1882 had another rhythm, un tiempo lento that allowed to enjoy every moment, live every experience to the limit, it offered quality of life and it paid attention to every detail, every moment. Famous actors, business men and adventurers visited the city and helped to maintain that spirit alive.
Thanks to them, the spirit of life has been transported through time, in a “Vuelo” (“Flight”) that helps us project the future. This culture has been the fundamental pillar of Cuervo y Sobrinos through all these years. Cuervo y Sobrinos flies through time.
Vuelo, from past to present. This watch keeps the philosophy, the “savoir faire”, the experience, it learns from the past to achieve the future. Feels the perception of time, time that triumphs and Cuervo y Sobrinos with it.

Vuelo, a myth to the future, to a new era, a new concept that exceeds the limits, new challenges, new ideas. Time moves, and Cuervo y Sobrinos too.
Quality, tradition, design and innovation define the new watch of Cuervo y Sobrinos. Developed, designed and produced 100% in Switzerland, the cradle of Haute Horlogerie, Cuervo y Sobrinos combines perfectly the Swiss traditional knowledge with modern technology.
Vuelo to prestige and complexity of Swiss watches, Vuelo to a masterpiece of Haute Horlogerie and Latin Soul.

With the new Historiador Vuelo, Cuervo y Sobrinos brings to life the most emblematic historic model in a new creative and ingenious design. Inspired from an original Cuervo y Sobrinos sketch from the 40s, the Historiador Vuelo reveals now a modern and sophisticated style underlined by the characteristic new lugs.
This case is designed with an incomparable complexity, its construction is highly sophisticated, with lugs separately built and perfectly screwed to the case. Their shape is highly in accordance with the pushers' design.

An up-to-date chronograph to satisfy a refined, demanding public seeking luxury and distinctive products. The “Vuelo” has a contemporary touch underlined by the multilevel and complex dial, with small seconds and minutes counters on the first level, 24 hours, index and numbers on the second level and minutes and seconds printing on the third level.
The stainless steel case diameter 44 mm personalized with “Vuelo” on the lateral side houses a Dubois Dépraz 30342 movement with date and 24 hours, a power reserve of 40 hours. A tachymeter scale is engraved on bezel.

HYSEK – IO 45mm Jumping Hours Tourbillon

HYSEK IO 45mm Jumping Hours Tourbillon Gold Limited Edition NEW

WATCHMAKING DRAMA FROM HYSEK

Hysek’s IO Jumping Hours Tourbillon is both disruptive and intuitive – a high-flying feat of creativity. With a new, 100% manufacture calibre, its disc display system encompasses a central tourbillon to deliver a brand new way of telling the time, coupled with outstanding technical prowess, and all encapsulated in a rose gold case.

PRESENTATION

Many claim to have resolved the constant tension of being simultaneously true to watchmaking tradition and to modernity. But when all’s said and done, the straightforward test of such claims is whether a timepiece gives you an overwhelming sense of familiarity the first time you see it – despite being quite unlike any watch in history.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                 BIG FOTO

The IO Jumping Hours Tourbillon is such a piece. This striking, ground-breaking watch is pure Hysek, even as it uses the oldest of time-display complications. The result is quite simply a unique timepiece, never before seen in the annals of horology that is nevertheless easy to understand.

The watchmaker’s amphitheatre

To pull off this feat, Hysek has used the geometry of its IO to full effect. In the centre of this miniature theatre sits, not a pair of hands, but a tourbillon. Aware that this hypnotic escapement is sure to win the acclaim of all seasoned watch-lovers, the manufacture has let it play the leading role. To complete the visual effect, Hysek has made it a flying tourbillon – meaning that it has no upper bridges – held in place by a ceramic ball bearing fixed to the plate. As a result, the tourbillon appears to be hanging in mid-air, centre stage, focussing all eyes on it. Hysek has also skeletonized the movement to further heighten the sense of depth when contemplating the watch.

The manufacture has showcased this escapement, and created the perfect backdrop for its performance, by the simple expedient of two discs. Echoing the tiered seating in an amphitheatre, Hysek has designed multiple levels of time-telling, arranged in concentric circles – like so many spectators around the main stage occupied by the tourbillon.

Ballet of the hours

The first disc marks minutes. The slim, black circle is engraved in white and has 60 minute markings, remaining as motionless as rapt spectators while a delicate gold-coloured mobile arc runs round the circumference to display the minutes. The hour disc sits above it, graduated over 24 hours. On this broad outer ring, only the hour in progress is fully readable, framed by a pink gold window, while the others are concealed behind an openwork applique motif. Its smooth yet lively outline is accentuated by a black and maroon flange – a combination that provides a clever colour transition from the black disc to the timepiece’s gold finish.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                 BIG FOTO

“The IO seeks to break free from convention in every respect – and yet remains consistent down to the tiniest detail”

Hysek’s hallmark Rose des vents compass rose finish graces all the bridges and is visible on the back, as well as on the black plate that serves as a dial. Indeed, the IO seeks to break free from convention in every respect – and yet remains consistent down to the tiniest detail.

A new, 100% manufacture calibre

The IO Jumping Hours Tourbillon is powered by a new automatic calibre, the HW20, wholly designed and produced in the Hysek manufacture. Guaranteeing a 42-hour power reserve, it can be admired through the watch’s sapphire back. The time is set with a single button, located at 3 o’clock. Hysek has developed a specific safety mechanism to prevent any unwelcome incident in the event of the hands accidentally being turned anti-clockwise.

The IO Jumping Hours Tourbillon has 322 parts and comes in a 45 mm case. It will be available in two rose gold versions, the second featuring a gemset bezel. Both will be available in limited editions of 88 pieces.

IWC – PORTOFINO Hand-Wound Monopusher

IWC Schaffhausen PORTOFINO Hand-Wound Monopusher Chronograph NEW

THE PORTOFINO COLLECTION
FROM IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN
NOW FEATURES A SOPHISTICATED
CHRONOGRAPH

Schaffhausen, August 2015 Renowned for its discreet simplicity, the Portofino watch family welcomes a new and technically sophisticated model to its ranks. With the new Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher, IWC presents its first-ever model with an ingenious single push-button chronograph. A slight protrusion on the crown is the only indication of an additional mechanism that promises even more user-friendliness. With models in white gold and red gold, this latest addition to the family is a stylish expression of understated luxury.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ..            BIG FOTO

The Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher (Ref. IW515104) features a case in 18-carat red gold, silver-plated dial and dark brown alligator leather strap by Santoni with a pin buckle in 18-carat red gold and a sophisticated single push-button chronograph mechanism.

With this new complication, IWC Schaffhausen adds a second in-house chronograph to its ever-popular Portofino line. In keeping with family tradition, the latest model oozes style and distinctive elegance and also features a further sophisticated technical feature: by far the most widespread type of chronograph is the classic model, with push-buttons at “2 o’clock” and “4 o’clock”. However, the Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher (Ref. IW515103/IW515104) sets itself apart with an ingenious single push-button stopwatch that measures time for up to 60 minutes.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ..            BIG FOTO

The chronograph push-button is integrated in the crown and at first glance is virtually invisible. Repeatedly pressing the single, multifunctional push-button starts, stops and resets the chronograph. When the button is pushed for the third time, all the chronograph displays return to zero. It is not only convenient but also an aesthetically pleasing aspect. Despite this additional function, the Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher remains a simple timepiece and divulges its functionality only when we look more closely.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ..            BIG FOTO

Understatement like this is part of the family tradition: Portofino watches have stood for discreet design and classic lines for as long as anyone can remember. “Here, we have a perfect balance of functionality, design and ease of use,” says Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. Drawing on traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering, we have created a new haute horlogerie watch of which we are enormously proud.”

AN INTRICATE INNER MECHANISM

The newly developed movement in the Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher is a worthy addition to IWC’s in-house movements and the Portofino range. The 59360 calibre is an offshoot of the high-performing 59000-movement family with the outstanding feature of a chronograph mechanism built into the movements.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ..            BIG FOTO

The owner can look forward to a 192-hour movement, which, when fully wound, will run accurately for eight whole days before automatically stopping. The amount of energy remaining is displayed on the power reserve display on the dial between “8 o’clock” and “9 o’clock”.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ..            BIG FOTO

The subdial at “12 o’clock” displays the number of minutes recorded by the chronograph while the seconds can be read off on the central hand. Together with the small-seconds subdial at “6 o’clock” and the date display at “3 o’clock” it results in a well-proportioned dial design. The back view, too, is no less inviting: the sapphire-glass back exposes an IWC-manufactured movement decorated with Geneva stripes together with the chronograph mechanism.

The Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher is available either in white gold with a slate-coloured dial and grey Santoni alligator leather strap or in an 18-carat red gold version with an attractive silver-plated dial and brown Santoni alligator leather strap.

LUXURY LEATHERS FOR A LUXURY TIMEPIECE

For more than a quarter of a century, the Portofino watch family has been an indispensable part of the IWC Schaffhausen collection. In 2011, as part of its quest to identify with the Italian way of life, the company joined forces with shoe manufacturer Santoni. The renowned family-owned company stands for luxurious elegance and quality of the highest order: values it shares with IWC Schaffhausen. Santoni produces exclusive, hand-made leather straps for IWC. A special process during manufacture produces a wonderful patina that gives the leather its characteristic colour gradations. The technique makes leather look as if it has already been carefully used for several years, despite being completely new. Another typical Santoni hallmark is the orange-coloured lining found on the inside of the strap. The charm and aesthetic cachet of southern European life are blended together in the perfect craftsmanship exuded by both watch and strap.

Ulysse NardinMARINE DIVER Artemis Racing Limited Edition NEW

The America’s Cup is the most important yachting competition of all time, and for the event’s 35th year, Ulysse Nardin sails into the sport as an official partner of Sweden’s Artemis Racing. To celebrate the landmark collaboration, the timepiece manufacture is launching an exclusive line of the iconic Marine Diver.

Vivid in deep-ocean blue with bursts of signature Artemis Racing yellow, the limited edition of 250 timekeepers was revealed in Gothenburg, Sweden, host to the America’s Cup World Series. This preliminary competition, held on August 28-30, is a fitting atmosphere to reveal the new Marine Diver Artemis Racing watch.

Since the beginning, only four countries have won the America’s Cup – the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. Artemis Racing is striving to be the Cup’s new steward, bringing it to Europe and Sweden for the first time; and Ulysse Nardin is very proud to support this historical endeavor – and commemorate it with a collectible timepiece.

Ulysse Nardin’s history of navigating the sea, paired with the DNA of innovation and technology, which is firmly established in both companies, makes this partnership a perfect match,” says Patrik Hoffmann, CEO of Ulysse Nardin. When meeting the Artemis engineers, technicians, and craftsmen at their base in San Francisco, I quickly realized that the spirit of passion and innovation is the driving force behind this extraordinary team.”

The energy and ingenuity of the Artemis Racing team is mirrored in this special execution of the Marine Diver, made for the milestone moment.

Presenting a sleek yet durable mixture of textures, including stainless steel and rubber, the piece is ideal for yachtsmen who welcome the fiercest of competition. Reflecting love for the sport while honoring the occasion is the original pattern on the watch’s face; here, vessels seem to float on the sea as if awaiting their turn to set sail. Highlighting the partnership is the Artemis Racing insignia and “Challenger 35th America’s Cup Artemis Racing” tribute.

These details, alongside the bold hour markers, hands and strap accented in yellow, with the Artemis Racing logo just below the dial, show a highly personal connection between the brand and the team. Reinforcing the nautical roots of each is the intricate wave pattern around the dial.

Boasting exceptional water resistance to 300 meters, made possible thanks to the screw-locked crown and case-back, it also features a unidirectional rotating bezel, which prevents any accidental adjustment to the dive time. Forty-four millimeters in diameter and powered by the UN-26 self-winding base caliber, the timepiece offers a power reserve indicator, small seconds register and a date display at 6 o’clock, among other precise functionality.
