The watch represents a tribute to the influential watch magazine and media company that has been a leading voice in the industry since 2005.

This launch honors the decades-long relationship with Revolution's founder, Wei Koh, a long-time admirer and commentator on Panerai. The PAM01708 is Panerai's second homage, following the Luminor Marina 8 Days DLC – 44mm released in 2015.

The concept of a “Destro” watch came from the demand of divers who had to wear the depth gauge and compass on their left hand. As a result, the large-sized Panerai diving watches were designed for the right wrist.

Interestingly, “Destro” means “right-handed” in Italian, but it’s remarkable how many people think it means “left-handed.” With the switch to right-hand wear, the crown guard and lever-locking mechanism were relocated to the left side of the case.

The 1960s saw the introduction of vintage Panerai “Destro” or left-handed watches, such as the Ref. 6152/1.

But it was the Richemont-era management consisting of then-CEO Angelo Bonati and designer Giampiero Bodino that took it upon themselves to launch the stunning PAM00026A in 1998 as a 200-piece limited edition and followed it up with the PAM00026B in 1999 as a 500-piece limited edition.

In 2008, Panerai paid tribute to this same timepiece with the relaunch of the PAM00026K as a 1,000-piece limited edition, which now featured a sandwich-type dial and Super-LumiNova instead of tritium.

Because these watches were designed to be worn on the right hand, wearing them on the left is technically incorrect, and yet it looks so incredibly cool that it’s inspired a multitude of Destro watches over the years from other brands.

The material that really captured our imagination, meanwhile, was Carbotech™, a high-performance composite material exclusive to Panerai and known for its remarkable lightness and resistance to wear.

It is constructed from thin layers of carbon fiber and a binding agent called PEEK (polyether ether ketone), which is laid up and then heated and compressed.

The process produces a material that is 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel, while offering superior resistance to corrosion and physical stress. Panerai’s Carbotech™ case plates are built with over 200 layers stacked together, while the bezel and crown-protecting device are machined at an angle to the layers — meaning that no two watches are visually identical after machining and finishing.

The result is a distinct, matte black finish with a variegated effect that shifts subtly depending on how the light hits it.

To mark the 10th anniversary of Carbotech™, we decided to craft the case, bezel, crown, crown guard and even the lever from this material — everything except the caseback is made in Carbotech™. A particularly nice touch is that our Revolution logo is engraved on the lever.

Our latest collaboration also builds upon a previous limited edition launched on the occasion of Revolution’s 10th anniversary in 2015, the Luminor Marina 8 Days DLC Special Edition PAM00599.

The dial features beige lume on the indices and hands, paying tribute to our favorite Pre-Vendôme era models. It also draws inspiration from our 10th anniversary model, but this time, crafted using a more complex sandwich construction.

We love the idea of a vintage-looking dial set against a subtly modern material like Carbotech™. Inside the watch is the Caliber P.9010, an automatic movement with three days of power reserve stored in two spring barrels, wound by a bi-directional oscillating weight.

The Panerai Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460 presents a sophisticated, all-black aesthetic. Encased in 40mm of black ceramic, it features Panerai’s signature sun-brushed sandwich dial in black, with luminous numerals and markers in white Super-LumiNova® X2 for enhanced legibility. A subtle nod to Panerai’s Italian heritage is the “BiTempo” inscription on the dial, the Italian term for “dual time”.

PAM01460 is powered by the automatic P.900/GMT movement, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The caliber, visible through the smoked sapphire crystal open case back, integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions, measuring 12½ lignes (28.2mm) in diameter and only 5.20 mm thick. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel.

Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. Its GMT complication with a 12-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones, the quintessential complication for the most cosmopolitan of explorers.

PAM01653 is crafted from premium AISI 316LVM - 1.4441 stainless steel, known for its strength and corrosion resistance. It is vacuum arc remelted to maximize purity and therefore it improves the resistance to corrosion. This high-quality alloy consists of iron with a chromium content of 17.0-19.0%, 13.0-15.0% of nickel, and 2.5-3.2% molybdenum for the main alloying elements. This variant is interesting as it is remelted, providing the alloy a high level of cleanliness and a high microstructure homogeneity; thus, resulting in a superior polished finish and enhanced corrosion resistance. Polished and brushed finishes emphasise further the timepieces’ design as well as Panerai’s longstanding watchmaking expertise.

Powered by the P.9100 caliber, Panerai’s first automatic movement with chronograph functions, it is designed to meet Panerai’s stringent mechanical standards. It incorporates the flyback chronograph function, with tachymeter scale for nautical use. This key feature allows the chronograph hands to reset to zero and restart instantly with a single press. This eliminates the need for the traditional three-step process of stopping, resetting and restarting. The push-button operates the flyback function at 8 o’clock, which also resets the hands to zero when the chronograph is stopped. The pusher is marked by R for reset and F for flyback with red lacquered details to add a dynamic flair.

The caliber is also characterized by a vertical clutch and column wheel mechanism, with chronograph minutes displayed by a central hand that jumps forward every 60 seconds. Equipped with two patented mechanisms, the movement boasts a 72-hour power reserve, achieved through twin spring barrels in series. These longer, thinner springs ensure a more consistent and extended energy supply. The caliber is visible through a sapphire crystal open case back. Boasting a grey matt-tone sandwich dial, PAM01654 embodies the bold and technical ethos of Luna Rossa team and is accented with striking red details and the team decal. The sub-dials are thoughtfully positioned for symmetric balance and readability, while the red chronograph hands add a dynamic touch. PAM01654 has a black and grey bi-material strap with the emblematic ‘Luna Rossa’ stripe and an additional black rubber strap.

A traversing balance bridge that securely positions the oscillator enhances the movement’s stability and precision. Additionally, the P.6000 includes a stop-second function, which halts the balance wheel and seconds hand when the winding crown is pulled out, allowing for precise time adjustments.
