Panerai celebrates the 90th Anniversary of Eilean, the Bermudian ketch designed and built in 1936 by the renowned Scottish shipyard Fife of Fairlie, by announcing its highly anticipated return to the classic regatta circuit, after its last appearance in 2018.

This comeback solidifies Panerai’s enduring legacy in the sailing world, a journey that began in 2000 with the sponsorship of the Laureus Regatta Panerai Trophy in Monaco and was further expanded in 2005 with the launch of the prestigious Classic Yachts Challenge – an annual circuit comprising of major classic-yacht regattas that ran for fourteen years, with Eilean’s participation starting from 2010.

Eilean’s 2026 Season is set to commence in Viareggio (Italy) on May 15, with the official ship launch at Cantiere del Carlo, the renowned Italian shipyard specializing in the construction and restoration of classic wooden yachts.

We are thrilled to witness Eilean’s return to the classic regatta circuit”, states Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing Officer at Panerai, “Thank to its timeless elegance and storied past, Eilean perfectly embodies the enduring spirit of adventure and precision that our Brand has championed since its inception. We are very much looking forward to seeing its presence on the water and providing our guests with the opportunity to rediscover Radiomir, Panerai’s most classic line and a faithful homage to our origins. For the debut of the season, we decided to dedicate our iconic Radiomir Bronzo PAM00760.

The racing calendar begins with the 30th Edition of Les Voiles d’Antibes (Antibes, 27-31 May 2026), marking the opening of the Mediterranean circuit for vintage and classic yachts. The series then continues in Italy with the Argentario Sailing Week (Porto Santo Stefano, 24–28 June 2026), before heading to Spain for the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona (Barcelona, 8–11 July 2026).

The XXXI Regata Illes Balears Clàssics (Palma de Mallorca, 11–15 August) then closes the summer season, while the program comes full circle in France with Les Régates Royales de Cannes (Cannes, 20–27 September 2026).

Radiomir Bronzo PAM00760

Panerai commemorates this anniversary on the water with a focus on the Radiomir Bronzo PAM00760, a timepiece intrinsically linked to Eilean and carrying the enduring legacy of the Radiomir, whose case – first developed in 1935 Ref. 2533 as an underwater watch prototype for the Royal Italian Navy – has since embodied the very essence of the “Captain’s watch”, originally conceived for naval operations and forged to sail the open seas aboard the fiercest ships.

The hand-wound Radiomir Bronzo PAM00760 is defined by its distinctive bronze case in 47 mm – reiterating the iconic size of Ref. 2533 – and a shaded green dial with luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers, details that dee

Historically valued in the construction of vintage yachts and ship components for its durability and resistance to seawater, bronze was a crucial material before the widespread adoption of stainless steel. Over the decades, Panerai has cultivated a strong association with it, making it a signature material for the brand, and was also among the first luxury watch brands to widely embrace bronze, particularly with models like the Luminor Submersible Bronzo PAM00382 launched in 2011 at SIHH, solidifying its reputation as a pioneer in bringing this robust and characterful material to high-end horology.

Setting apart from typical watchmaking bronze alloys, Panerai’s bronze boasts a special composition, where the use of pure copper and pure tin promotes the creation of a distinctive patina on the surface. Thanks to this special evolution, this alloy has become a true asset for the Maison, solidifying Panerai’s bronze timepieces as some of the most sought-after.

The aging process of bronze is truly fascinating, as every piece evolves with the owner’s life, acquiring a distinctive appearance: when new, it exhibits a warm, gold-like hue, gradually developing a patina that arises from its interaction with external elements such as air, moisture, heat, and friction. While this patina doesn’t alter the material’s inherent properties, this protective layer imbues each piece with a unique character while safeguarding the material itself.

Turning Radiomir Bronzo PAM00760 over reveals a titanium open case back with sapphire glass, offering a view of the hand-wound P. 3000 calibre, developed in Panerai’s Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, to embody the structural robustness and dependability characteristic of Panerai’s earliest instruments for the Italian Navy. Its 16½ lignes diameter follows the tradition of the large movements once used in earlier pocket-watch constructions and then in historic Panerai models, chosen to ensure stability and to support the clear, open dials that characterized the original designs.

The layout of the calibre is immediately recognizable: a wide bridge paired with three smaller companion bridges covers most of the mechanism, secured by thick screws that create a particularly rigid assembly. This approach echoes the philosophy of early hand-wound movements made for military use, in which resistance to shocks and long-term reliability were essential. The three-day power reserve is delivered by two spring barrels in series, allowing the use of long, slender springs that provide a consistent release of energy over time.

The calibre contains 21 jewels, with finishing choices that recall the aesthetic language of historic Panerai movements. The P.3000 calibre is equipped with the quick change of time function, a useful feature that allows the hour hand to be easily moved forwards and backwards in steps of exactly one hour. This adjustment can be made without disturbing the minute hand, simply by pulling the watch crown out to its first click position.

The watch is water-resistant up to 10 bar (~100 meters), embodying Panerai’s unwavering dedication to vigorous water resistance, a legacy stemming from its origins as a supplier of diving instruments for the Italian Navy, and features a vintage-led Radiomir design language.

A shaded green dial, with a grainy surface and degradé colouring – lighter at the centre, darker at the perimeter – creates a distinctive backdrop for the blue burnished steel hands. Historically, bluing protected components against corrosion and improved legibility; today, the signature hue is achieved through a controlled oxidation process at around 300°C.

Beige Super-LumiNova® ensures visibility in low light, emitting a green glow in the dark. The dial is topped by a domed acrylic glass crystal, recalling early dive watches fitted with a luminous Radiomir dial developed for the Italian Navy; a second crystal is supplied with the watch and will be replaced once free of charge at any Panerai Boutique or Distributor worldwide.

The timepiece is completed with a dark brown rolled leather strap with an understated vintage construction, and a trapezoidal bronze pin buckle recalling historic Panerai watches once covered by military secrecy.

These are timepieces that embody empowerment, strength, and unwavering confidence. Built for uncompromising performance, they are fearless companions, ready to accompany you on any adventure, pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations, just as Panerai watches have done for generations.

Luminor PAM01731 and Luminor Destro PAM01732

Panerai’s legacy takes center stage in the new Luminor PAM01731 and Luminor Destro PAM01732, where heritage and performance converge. These models are a direct tribute to the Luminor design of the 1960s, celebrating the brand’s origins as a secret supplier of tool watches to the Italian Navy.

The unmistakable Luminor design – robust case, iconic crown protective bridge, luminous numerals, and distinctive sandwich dial – is reverently preserved, offering Panerai connoisseurs a modern embodiment of the Maison’s enduring military heritage and unwavering pursuit of functional design.

At Watches & Wonders 2026, Panerai celebrates its legendary legacy as a trusted supplier of professional instruments to the Italian Navy, through the launch of vintage-inspired timepieces that carry forward the design of the purpose-built diving instruments of the ‘60s, now with a contemporary tweak. We are committed to building a portfolio where all the hallmarks of our functional design, including bold and robust cases, high-water resistance, luminous dials, and hand-wound movements delivering extended power reserves, remain steadfast” says Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing and Product Officer of Panerai.

Luminor PAM01731 and Luminor Destro PAM01732 draw inspiration from past Panerai timepieces, starting from the iconic Ref. 6152/1 from the ‘60s and more recently the Luminor PAM00372 launched in 2011. The architecture of the Luminor case reflects a progression defined by purpose and performance, and the large hand-wound calibres selected for their dependability.

Beginning with the earliest professional instruments of the 1930s and 1940s, Panerai gradually strengthened its case construction to meet the needs of underwater missions. Through the 1950s, references such as 6154 and 6152, with their 47mm cases, introduced solid lugs machined from a single block and a reinforced screw-down crown.

Panerai Ref. 6152/1 with Luminor dial and Angelus 240 8-days movement.

A pivotal innovation which became part of the solidity of the case construction was the iconic crown protecting bridge. Historically patented in 1956, this distinctive feature made its debut with the GPF 2/56, a 60 mm diving watch, supplied to the Egyptian Navy with the Italian Navy’s approval.

By the mid-1950s and 1960s, reference 6152/1 established the cushion case, integrated lugs, and crown protecting bridge, defining the Luminor’s iconic silhouette that is now synonymous with the Maison.

For the first time, this 6152/1 case architecture with its 47 mm bold presence, has been translated into a 44 mm format.

The new PAM01731 and PAM01732 take inspiration from the original volumetric geometry with a true cushion middle case, a flat crown protecting bridge and contrasting polished and brushed components. The result preserves the structural integrity and proportions of Panerai’s historical design language in a size refined for contemporary wear.

Both novelties share core specifications that define their vintage character. The 44 mm steel case is complemented by a domed sapphire crystal, a design choice that recalls the visual effect of the PERSPEX® used in 1960s Luminor watches. This detail enhances both depth and legibility, in a nod to the Maison’s early professional instruments.

The sapphire caseback is open and reveals the hand-wound P.6000 calibre, a Manufacture movement with a three-day power reserve. P.6000 measures 15½ lignes in diameter and features a balance wheel oscillating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, secured by a traversing balance bridge for enhanced stability of the regulating organ.

For precise time setting, the calibre includes a stop-seconds function. This useful mechanism activates when the winding crown is pulled to its second position: a spring blade halts the balance wheel, which in turn stops the small seconds hand on the dial, ensuring highly accurate time synchronization.

Showcased through an open caseback, the P.6000 features striking blue engravings, complemented by horizontal brushing on the plates. By incorporating the P.6000 into these new timepieces, Panerai not only honors its deep heritage – recalling the hand-wound movements prevalent in its early creations – but also demonstrates its ongoing pursuit of hand-wound movements as a fundamental aspect of its watchmaking expertise.

The case structure combines a polished finish with a brushed crown protective bridge and is water resistant up to 30 bar (~300 meters). This represents a significant achievement for the vintage construction, embodying Panerai’s unwavering dedication to enhanced water resistance, a legacy stemming from its origins as a supplier of diving instruments for the Italian Navy.

This performance is not merely claimed, but rigorously validated at the Laboratorio di Idee, where each watch undergoes extensive underwater testing. This commitment to durability begins with comprehensive quality certification, where every single component of the case is meticulously checked before assembly.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Before the main water resistance assessment, the case and gaskets undergo a simulated 10 years of ageing, followed by an initial test to assess protection against dust and humidity infiltration. Once the entire watch is assembled (without the strap), it proceeds to a multi-stage water resistance verification.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

First, a vacuum unit test is performed to prevent damage in case of waterproofness issues. Subsequently, the watch is immersed in a specialized device filled with water, simulating the indicated pressure plus an additional 25% as a safety factor, and exposed for a specific duration.

To confirm absolute dryness, the watch is then heated before cold water is dropped onto the sapphire glass; any internal moisture would instantly become visible. This comprehensive water resistance test, excluding the ageing process, is performed on every individual timepiece, ensuring that each watch exceeds its guaranteed rating by 25%.

Both models feature beige Super-LumiNova® on indexes and vintage inspired double pencil hands, ensuring enhanced visibility in low light conditions.

PAM01731’s tobacco-colored dial brings back to the Maison’s portfolio a deep brown tone. Its sandwich construction, made of two superimposed plates for a higher and longer visibility in all light conditions, combined with the small seconds at 9 o’clock, reflects the heritagedriven expression of this reference and is paired with a dark brown straight vintage-style calf leather strap and a second rubber strap in the same hue, making it the ideal companion for diving expeditions.

Luminor Destro PAM01732 features the crown protective bridge on the left side of the case, drawing from archival executions originally designed to support military divers by freeing the left hand for the use of instruments such as a compass or depth gauge. Giuseppe Panerai conceived this configuration specifically to enhance the capabilities of military divers during their missions, enabling the watch to be worn on the right wrist, with the crown protective bridge ensuring comfort and ease of use during underwater operations.

The matte blue dial showcases 12, 3, 6 and 9 numerals and a clean display with no small seconds, offering a distinctive interpretation of the Luminor’s visual codes. The timepiece is paired with a light brown straight vintage-style calf leather strap and a second blue rubber strap.
