A MoonSwatch worth its weight in... History!

Gold is taking center stage in a limited-edition MoonSwatch celebrating the Moon landing of Apollo 11, on July 21, 1969.

Some moments are so extraordinary they continue to shine across generations. Such was the first moon landing in 1969. To celebrate this moment, Swatch launches the MISSION TO THE MOON 1969: a limited edition of 1969 pieces, featuring a dial, hands crown, and pushers crafted from OMEGA’s 18K Moonshine™ Gold, all weighing 11 grams.

The gold used for this limited edition dates also from that period, coming from old OMEGA spare parts. We melted it in our own foundry to create OMEGA’s 18K Moonshine™ Gold.

In 1969, eleven grams of 18K gold cost 11 dollars and around 48 Swiss francs (CHF), with an exchange rate of CHF 4,31 to the dollar. MISSION TO THE MOON 1969 will be available at CHF 500, based on the price of gold on July 21, 1969 and not on today’s gold price.

To get your hands on this model, you have to fill out an ESTA or Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application. There will be 32 questions to answer similar to the ESTA many travelers have to fill out to travel to the USA. Only 1969 people will get an ESTA approval from Swatch, which gives them the right to purchase the limited edition

All this is happening in the digital space, online. The Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application will be available on swatch.com from July 16 at 15:32 CEST and must be filled out and submitted by July 21 at 23:59 CEST at the latest. Selected participants will receive follow up instructions on how to complete their purchase and pick up their watch at a Swatch store.

The choice of gold and its weight are more than aesthetic details, as both are playful nods: the use of gold on the dial as well as its design reference OMEGA’s gold Speedmaster from 1969, a timepiece created to celebrate the success of the Apollo 11 mission, while the weight is a playful wink to the mission’s number.

Additional details echo this and other commemorative models, from the vertical satin dial finishing and the black Bioceramic bezel with a gold-colored tachymeter, to the gold beveled indexes with black lacquer, period-correct OMEGA logo and typography.

Two additional subtle highlights keep MISSION TO THE MOON 1969 gleaming from every angle. The first is its battery cover which features a golden Moon design with an anti-scratch coating, that displays the date of the moon landing and a footprint referencing the first step taken on the Sea of Tranquillity, Apollo 11’s landing site.

The second is that each chronograph in this limited edition is individually numbered, with its number engraved on the side of its case at 9 o’clock and finished with a touch of golden lacquer.

HYT Watches proudly unveils the Conical Tourbillon Midnight Blue, a striking new interpretation that dresses the maison's most technical creation in its most precious material.

This distinctive timepiece pairs a warm 5N rose gold case with black DLC titanium, setting a refined precious frame around HYT's signature fluidic blue, the tinted liquid coursing through the borosilicate capillary, the three spheres orbiting the conical tourbillon, and the blue central minutes hand sweeping across the dial.

The Conical Tourbillon Midnight Blue represents a bold evolution in HYT's hydromechanical journey, where the solar warmth of 5N gold heightens the depth and movement of the blue. Here, gold does not compete with colour, it frames it, letting the fluidic mechanics take centre stage beneath the domed sapphire crystal.

This audacious pairing reflects HYT's commitment to pushing boundaries while maintaining the technical excellence that defines the brand.

Gold as the frame, blue as the spectacle

HYT carries over the conical tourbillon that earned the HYT Conical Tourbillon Titanium Blue its acclaim and rewrites its case entirely. The architecture becomes bicolour: 5N gold paired with DLC-black titanium, the same pairing of warmth and shadow that defines HYT's most precious references.

The gold signs the crown, struck with the Maison’s H, and the side grilles and frame, which catch the light along the flanks. The titanium, coated in deep black DLC, recedes into the background, a quiet stage built for one purpose: to let the blue be seen.

Because the colour, here, belongs entirely to the fluid. It rises and retrogrades in the capillary tube marking the hour; it fills the three spheres that orbit the conical tourbillon; it traces the sweep of the central minutes hand.

Around all of this, gold does not compete, it frames. The result is not a precious variation on an existing model. It is a metamorphosis: the most technical creation in HYT's history, dressed in its most noble material.

It is both animated and sensual thanks to the dual movement effect created by the blue retrograde fluid hour markers and the turning of the conical tourbillon with its dynamic animations.

The HYT Conical Tourbillon Midnight Blue is a new form of life, symbolised by the central mechanism at its heart, now held within a case that pairs the permanence of gold with the technicality of titanium.

A tourbillon born of a century of daring

At the heart of this technical feat, the 701-TC caliber, a hand-wound mechanical movement beating at a frequency of 21,600 vib/h (3 Hz).

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The conical tourbillon is elevated as it springs to life at the very core of the mechanics, with its spring-balance inclined at 30 degrees to horizontal, the escape wheel at 15 degrees, and the pallet at 23 degrees, a bold technical achievement that takes its inspiration directly from the works of German watchmaker Walter Prendel and his inclined balance tourbillon.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watch movement consists of 533 components, with the tourbillon cage alone comprising 159 components. Adding the dial's 39 components and the 66 that make up the case, the entire HYT Conical Tourbillon Midnight Blue totals 750 components, all meticulously checked, assembled by hand.

In his workshops in Groitzsch, a part of Saxony which is as well-known as Switzerland for the development of cutting-edge watches, Walter Prendel aimed to prove the relevance of his research, based on the theories of master watchmaker Alfred Helwig, into improving the stability and regularity of the rate of his oblique tourbillon with a spring-balance inclined at 30° to horizontal.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It was in the early 2020s that master watchmaker Eric Coudray, winner of the Prix Gaïa and familiar with the complex works of Walter Prendel, decided to continue this work to improve the tourbillon, using this oblique tourbillon as his base.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Given its advances in contemporary fine watchmaking, it was only logical that HYT would decide to include a tourbillon in the design of the mechanical movement for its new watch.

Three spheres, one choreography of blue

At the very heart of the dial, where the conical tourbillon completes a clockwise revolution in 30 seconds, three spheres filled with blue liquid rotate at different speeds, easy to observe: the first completes four turns a minute, the second five turns a minute, and the third six turns a minute, clockwise, a chaotic animation that never repeats itself the same way twice within an hour.

“Gold has always promised permanence. Blue, here, is what keeps moving inside that promise – the part of the watch that never sits still. We didn't want to colour the gold. We wanted the gold to hold something that colour could truly belong to.” – HYT

Telling time with liquid: an age-old principle, a contemporary answer

HYT was born in 2012 from a dream of using liquid to display the time on a mechanical watch. The independent Swiss watchmaker has developed a very personal approach to the art of watchmaking, guided by the ambition to return to the very sources of timekeeping as they were first established many thousands of years ago
Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

To do this, HYT has developed cutting-edge technology which allows it to transfer the energy developed by the watch movement to animate the fluid mechanics.

CHRONOSWISS – PULSE GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold Edition

 CRAFT, FROSTED BY FORCE

Chronoswiss introduces the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold, a new expression of modern travel time created in the Atelier Lucerne.

Housed in a 41mm 18-carat gold case and paired with a new integrated rubber strap, this timepiece brings precious material into the bold, architectural world of the Pulse family.

The Pulse design language marks one of the most progressive chapters in the history of Chronoswiss. Sculptural, sporty and unmistakably modern, it redefines the brand’s classic codes with a sharper attitude:

The iconic onion crown, the coin-edge bezel and a powerful case construction built for a world in motion. With the GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold, this language becomes even more provocative.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

At the center of this creation lies a frosted guilloché dial. For the first time, a hand-guilloché brass surface is refined through a special sandblasting process, where ultra-fine synthetic corundum particles are directed onto the dial with absolute precision.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

The result is a shimmering, frosted finish that transforms the traditional guilloché pattern into a crystalline landscape of light, texture and depth.

Guilloché has always been one of the defining crafts of Chronoswiss. Traditionally, its beauty lies in rhythm, geometry and reflected light. With the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold, that language is pushed into new territory.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

The hand-cut structure remains, but its surface is transformed. Softer in its glow, sharper in its presence, more contemporary in its expression. This frosted surface sets the stage for the two rotating GMT discs.

GOLD IN MOTION

At the heart of the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold beats the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6002, developed exclusively together with La Joux-Perret. With 55 hours of power reserve, the movement integrates a dedicated two-timezone module designed for those who live between worlds, cities and time zones.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

At 9 o’clock, a 24-hour disc displays the second time zone, while the 12-hour disc at 3 o’clock keeps home time in view. Central minutes and seconds connect both worlds with mechanical clarity. This is not a decorative GMT, but a true mechanical construction designed around movement, orientation and global rhythm.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

The 18ct gold case brings warmth, weight and presence to the architectural design of the Pulse GMT. Its precious character is deliberately contrasted by the new integrated rubber strap, currently exclusively available for this model.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

The result is pure Modern Mechanical: Traditional luxury pushed into a sharper, more functional and contemporary direction.

A NEW SURFACE LANGUAGE

Created in the Atelier Lucerne, the watch reflects the spirit of a brand that treats craftsmanship not as something static, but as something alive. Every detail serves the same idea: to make traditional mechanics feel new again.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

Bold, sporty and unmistakably Chronoswiss, the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloche Gold is a mechanical travel companion for a world that never stands still.
