Instrument de Mesures
Triple scale
Telemeter, pulsometer, tachymeter: Angelus unites the chronograph’s key functional scales in a single design. True to its heritage as a maker of functional timepieces, Angelus brings together the expertise developed through its previous instruments in the Instrument de Mesures.

Produced in two limited editions of 25 pieces, this watch is a genuine instrument of measurement, designed to calculate elapsed time, the speed of sound, distance travelled and heart rate. Using a single chronograph hand, it integrates three functions, each with its own dedicated scale.

Housed in a 39 mm steel case, its three-dimensional dial is both highly legible and meticulously graduated, giving the Instrument de Mesures the character of an authentic tool watch with a distinctive vintage charm and singular identity.

One instrument, several measurements
With its extensive metrological capabilities, this model remains true to Angelus’s historical mission: creating the functional complications that have forged its reputation among collectors.

This new piece follows in the footsteps of the of 2023, the Instrument de Vitesse launched in 2024 and the Chronographe Télémètre, winner of the Chronograph Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horologie de Genève in 2025.

The Instrument de Mesures represents the culmination of these earlier creations, bringing together their three signature scales – a telemeter, a pulsometer and a tachymeter – within a single watch.
Two editions
The Instrument de Mesures is available in two limited editions of 25 pieces. The first features an ebony-black dial, with the scales arranged from the outer edge towards the centre in shades of blue, orange and cream.

The second pairs an ivory-white dial with blue, red and green markings. The finely grained surface of the dials is complemented by syringe hands, a design signature directly inspired by the 1960s chronographs that Angelus pays tribute to here.

At 39 mm in diameter, the steel case combines balanced proportions with a slender profile. The twisted lugs flow naturally from the case band, creating a fluid and harmonious silhouette.

The bezel’s simplicity gives the dial centre stage. And beneath a box-shaped sapphire crystal, the generous dial opening highlights what makes the Instrument de Mesures unique: its multiple graduated scales, designed to provide a clear and intuitive reading of its various functions.
Three scales
The telemeter gauges the distance to a sound-producing event by calculating the time elapsed between seeing it and hearing it. The pulsometer makes it easy to measure heart rate: simply count 15 beats to obtain a pulse reading.

Finally, the tachymeter determines an object’s average speed over a distance of one kilometre. On the Instrument de Mesures the scale covers speeds from 20 km/h to 500 km/h.

The various scales are straightforward to use. To measure an event, just start the chronograph using the single pusher integrated into the crown. A second press stops it at the end of the measurement.

The position of the central seconds hand on the corresponding scale immediately indicates the result. Pressing the pusher a third time resets the chronograph to zero, ready for a new measurement.
Four sections
Integrating these three scales alongside the essential minute track required a particularly sophisticated design approach.

The amount of information to be displayed, combined with the need for legibility and clarity, led Angelus to adopt a distinct colour code for each function. This arrangement is reinforced by a three-dimensional dial construction, featuring a domed centre and outer edge connected by a sloping intermediate section.

To achieve the necessary depth, Angelus implemented an innovative manufacturing process that involved laser-cutting directly into the material. The markings appear to emerge subtly from the dial, present without compromising legibility.

The telemetric scale is situated on the highest level at the periphery of the dial. The pulsometer extends across the angled intermediate section, and the tachymeter, in the form of a spiral, is located closest to the hands.

Designed according to a rigorous visual hierarchy, this three-dimensional construction naturally draws attention to the essential information.

A functional approach that perfectly embodies the vocation of the Instrument de Mesures as a true instrument watch conceived above all as a tool for reading and measurement.
Five thousand
The Instrument de Mesures is powered by Angelus’s in-house A5000 chronograph calibre. Its classical architecture showcases numerous intricately shaped components, providing an ideal canvas for high-end finishing. The abundance of bevelled edges is a testament to the Manufacture’s traditional craftsmanship.

Visible through the sapphire case back, the chronograph mechanism immediately draws the eye. Its palladium-treated elements stand out strikingly against the rest of the movement, which has a 3N gilded finish. This contrast emphasises the complexity of the construction and highlights all the components involved in time measurement.

Faithful to the great traditions of chronograph watchmaking, the A5000 incorporates a column wheel and a horizontal clutch, both defining features of traditional chronographs. A technical choice that combines mechanical refinement, operating pleasure and fidelity to the vintage spirit that defines the watch.
