Perrelet's iconic Turbine line offers the possibility of reinventing itself whenever desired thanks to its great versatility. It is no secret that the two key aesthetic elements of this collection, first introduced in 2009 with the patented Turbine technology, are the spinning propeller and its sub-dials. Elements that allow for everchanging decorations, giving rise to new proposals.

Over the years, many themes have been explored by Perrelet. From models dedicated to the world of aviation and motor racing, to fashion trends such as camouflage patterns or rainbow shades, to name but a few. But also, erotic-themed models, which the brand is relaunching by introducing two new versions in the collection.

Erotic timepieces, called “polissoners” in French or “conversation pieces” in English, have intrigued and fascinated illustrious personalities of the past.

The art of manufacturing erotic watches dates back to the 1600s (at that era these were pocket watches). But a real step forward in the construction of these time-instruments did not occur until the mid-18th with the introduction of the automatons to animate the scenes. The first pieces of these extravagant watches were made for the Chinese market. Later on, this eccentric passion spread to India and finally reached the European countries.

Erotic scenes on watches, which have been requested by watch collectors for centuries, embellish the sub-dials of the new “Turbine Erotic” references A4062/S2 and A4062/S3.

Japanese Hentai manga-style characters animate two diverse erotic scenarios in the hues of grey, black and bright red. These illustrations materialize in their entirety during the rotation of the 12-blade turbine at high speed. A slight oscillation of the turbine keeps the subject of the paintings a secret and act as censorship.

This special “Turbine Erotic” series, in two different versions, is a limited edition of 50 pieces each. Case, dial, movement and strap are identical for both versions. What distinguishes them are the scenes depicted on the lower dial.

Compared to the previous Turbine Erotic series, these latest editions adopt the redesigned case introduced with the Turbine EVO collection a few years ago.

Made of stainless steel and water-resistant to 5 atm, it measures 44 mm in diameter and features redesigned lugs, a smooth flat bezel and the distinctive vertical fluted case band. The prominent crown personalised with the Maison's logo allows for a better grip when setting the time or winding the watch.

The famous 12-blade dial, a distinctive signature of all Perrelet’s models is protected under a sapphire crystal glass. The propeller, picked out in black anodised aluminium with five tungsten counterweights, rotates in time with the motion of the wrist. The faster the rotation, the more the erotic scenes on the lower sub-dials are visually sharpened.

Time-only in their functions, the hour markers mixed with even Arabic numerals, as well as the hour-minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in any light conditions. The red seconds hand enlivens the dial and matches the brighter colour of the depictions on the sub-dials.

The case, which has a 44 mm diameter and a thickness of 13.82 mm, has a sporty-chic look thanks to the smooth bezel and the distinctive fluted case middle. The flat matte bezel frames the black dial, which spins into action with the turbine. As both elements are tone-on-tone, the optical effect created during the turbine’s maximum rotation speed seems to make it vanish into thin air. Thanks to the five counterweights placed beneath the blades, when the oscillation slows down, the turbine re-emerges in all its beauty and returns to its original position.

Applied Arabic numerals and black indices are read with the central hour and minute hands. The only light notes in this dark composition are the white indications for the seconds on the flange, as well as the company logo and the Swiss Made inscription. The display is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a material that is highly resistant to shocks and scratches.

The engine driving the “Turbine Carbon Black Edition” is the manufacture P-331-MH automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.  Recently conceived, this new-generation calibre P-331-MH benefits from substantial modifications compared to its predecessor.

The teeth of the escape wheel have an improved surface finish, and the pallet is fitted with superior quality rubies, ensuring higher performance and an impeccable degree of reliability. Furthermore, the new lubricating system of the reversers guarantees the optimum performance of the bi-directional winding system.

The balance wheel is also fitted with a double-cone Incabloc® shock absorber that increases protection against impact. Its excellent precision and reliability are guaranteed by the Chronofiable and COSC certifications obtained after successfully passing the relevant tests.

The LAB PERIPHERAL DUAL TIME BIG DATE comes in a 42 mm x 42 mm stainless steel cushion-shape case water-resistant to 5 ATM. Its soft, smooth lines along with brushed and polished lugs, the embossed rectangles decoration on the case band and the polished octagonal bezel with satin-brushed profile, endow this model with a strong and distinctive character.

Great attention was paid to the architecture of the dial boasting an original construction. The three-dimensional effect is achieved by the multi-level structure embellished by a variety of finishes and plays on two shades of color: deep blue combined with silver-colored details.The dial shows an elegant pattern with vertical lines with a metallic circular-brushed rim in the centre surrounded by a blue matt sandblasted ring.

At 12 o’clock the date is displayed in two small windows in black Arabic numerals on a white background enhancing optimal legibility. The star function of this new timepiece, the second-time zone, takes place  on the counter at 6 o’clock decorated with circular grooves and bears the dual time indication with a mix of applied Arabic numerals and indices. The day and night indication is displayed in the small round aperture between 10 and 11 o’clock.

The cut-out hour-markers filled with white SuperLuminova, as well as the hands of the main time are applied on the dial, giving the impression that they are literally floating on air. The unusual decision to use a transparent element was specifically intended to allow the owner of the LAB PERIPHERAL DUAL TIME BIG DATE watch to admire the most distinctive feature of this timepiece: its oscillating weight.

While it is generally visible through the case-back, the LAB PERIPHERAL DUAL TIME BIG DATE watch allows watch enthusiasts to observe the motion of the oscillating weight while reading the time. This technical innovation was made possible by the new generation in-house manufacture self-winding Caliber P-421. The oscillating weight, a 180° plate, is fixed to a toothed wheel (with toothing on the inside) known as a “couronne”, itself positioned on the outer part of the movement that meshes with a pinion placed on the outer rim of the movement. The rotor, on ball bearings, is adorned with a 180° screw-down plate bearing an engraved grooves decoration that can be admired through the transparent hours ring. 

 

This new generation automatic calibre, composed by 302 parts, beats at 28.800 vibrations per hours and offers 42-hour power reserve. The sapphire crystal porthole on the case-back, sealed with 6 screws, reveals its balance-wheel in action and the rhodium plated bridges with Côtes de Genève finishing and engravings in gold 3N.

Especially conceived for ONLY WATCH, the "TURBINE HOPE" boasts an innovative case with a stainless steel bezel with black PVD coating and a central body made of polycarbonate and carbon fibre. A first for Perrelet, the properties of carbon fibre include its thermal insulation capacity, its resistance to chemical agents and temperature changes. Moreover, it is very light and comfortable on the wrist, 44 mm in diameter and 13.82 mm in thickness, the case has a sporty look with a refined aesthetic appeal thanks to the flat, smooth bezel and the fluted case band–a signature feature of the brand.

Looking carefully at the case back, the ring in black PVD stainless steel surrounding the sapphire crystal echoes the same decorative grooves featured on the sides of the case. The convex channels are lined up at precisely the same position as the concave channels on the case. A small yet refined detail that underlines the meticulous care Perrelet invests in every single detail.

Perrelet is renowned for its unique representation of the automatic movement thanks to its patented Double Rotor and Turbine technology. The famous 12-blade dial, a distinctive design code of all Perrelet's Turbine models, is protected under a sapphire glass. The original 3D effect created by the blades gives the impression of diving into the heart of the dial. The propeller, picked out in black anodised aluminium with five tungsten counterweights, rotates in time to the motions of the wrist. As the blades spin, a lower sub-dial reveals a medley of positive words: hope, love, support, volunteer, life, social, community. The word "HOPE", highlighted in bright orange, is the dial's protagonist and features an original letter "O" formed by a fluffy white cloud with a rainbow. This design was inspired by paintings made by Italian children at the beginning of the pandemic in Italy and is a powerful symbol of hope that “everything will be alright” and that thanks to the ongoing progress of medical and scientific research, the virus will be defeated.

The Arabic numerals on the flange and the hours and minutes hands are covered with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in any light conditions. As a final touch of refinement, the words printed on the sub-dial are luminescent with green light emission. The central seconds hand and the indices are picked out in orange to match the word HOPE.
