Harry Winston – Project Z14 Zalium Edition

Harry WinstonProject Z14 Zalium™ Limited Edition

Like its predecessors, Project Z14 reconciles creative contradictions, as refined details meet bold mechanics. The strategic staging of architectural elements to create a tridimensional timepiece is a Project Z signature. Transparent materials and varying finishes allow for an open-dial design that is defined and modern.

For fourteen years, the Project Z series has balanced consistency and innovation. At the forefront of this collection is Zalium, the ultra-light, corrosion-resistant alloy used to craft each case. Another series signature, the Project Z14 is limited to 300 units.

While key elements remain the same, the Project Z simultaneously brings unexpected newness each year. In Project Z14, a retrograde second with a 30-second range, new openwork structure and dominant gray color palette punctuated by shades of blue make their mark.

The strength of a case

The Project Z14 case is distinguished not only by its material, Zalium, but also by its shapes, lugs, crown and signature arches that recall the entrance to Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon.

This year, different from past years, the case features a chamfered bezel and arches to pay homage to the beveled finishes on the dial.

With a thickness of 10.7 mm, this case successfully reconciles technical watchmaking with exemplary ergonomics. The 42.2 mm diameter case is free from overhangs or excess and strikes the perfect balance between complexity and comfort.

On stage

The Project Z14 dial functions as a performance space, telling a tale about watchmaking with extraordinary visual support. Technical, artistic and structural principles work in harmony to create the unique identity of this timepiece, which features strong colors and finishes, as well as shapes, angles and depth.

Harry Winston blue is used for the hands and indexes located in the excentered counter at noon and for the seconds arch at 120 degrees, graduated from 0 to 30 seconds. Red is used for the seconds hand and gray dominates the remainder of the dial, as black accents emphasize the dynamic details and levels. Black appears in the grid of the excentered dial, which is revealed in a new light. The fresh design features horizontal and vertical segments that work together to create a linear picture.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The unique dial consists of stages, facets, bevels, slopes and angles. All of these elements come together in an openwork structure that floats above the movement, which is visible and features the signature radiant Co tes de Gene vefinishes. With polishing, varnishing, recesses and an almost incalculable number of angles, the iconic quality of Project Z14 comes to life.

Movement architecture

Behind the dial beats the HW2202 caliber, a 4hz motor base, with 65 hours of power that draws its energy from an openwork white gold rotor. The rotor’s consistency is due to the flat silicon balance spring.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The spotlight shines on the complication, which allows the hours and minutes to be excentered, and features a retrograde second. After 30 seconds, the red seconds hand instantly returns, due to a system with a snail-shaped cam and return spring. The mechanics of this retrograde second are visible behind its counter. The color blue, a brand color, also appears on the rubber bracelet, which is structured like a textile bracelet.

A game of illusions

Project Z14 catches the eye, with trickery and amusement. The overlapping segments, arcs and colors have both a technical and an aesthetic mission. By relentlessly pushing the logic of excenteredness and levels even further, Harry Winston reaches new heights with Project Z14.

Harry Winston – PREMIER Majestic Art Deco Automatic 36

Harry WinstonPREMIER Majestic Art Deco Automatic 36mm - 2020

The Premier Majestic Art Deco timepiece pays homage to the signature aesthetic of its namesake period. Housed in a white gold case, the dial reveals its jazzy geometry emphasized with a bold black and white color palette. A careful assortment of black jade, mother-of-pearl and diamonds, set in layers, create a dramatic spectacle of infinite depth and glamour.

The timeless elegance of Art Deco

The Art Deco spirit dominates the magnificent dial of this timepiece, which features a dynamic arrangement of black and white creative elements. Travel back in time to 1932, when Harry Winston founded his legendary jewelry brand in New York City.

There, the skyline soared with majestic skyscrapers and the sleek, symmetrical style of the time permeated all aspects of life, from architecture to décor to fashion and, of course, fine jewelry.

The glamorous return of black and white

Like movies out of Hollywood’s Golden Era, where the most iconic silver screen stars were immortalized in black and white, the Premier timepiece employs the same minimalist color palette, but with a highly complicated creative edge. Similar to artistic black and white photography, subtle gradations of silvery gray add richness and antique charm to the design.

Slivers of white mother-of-pearl and glossy black jade, carefully set in a white gold base, work together to form the abstract background. This technique, known as marquetry, allows the geometric sunray design to come to life. Paying homage to Mr. Winston’s favorite cut for precious stones, an emerald-cut black jade sits center stage on the top half of the dial. Its octagonal facets are framed by round brilliant diamonds, arranged in a cut-down setting that promises the utmost sparkle and light.

Once again, Harry Winston’s gem-setters have found innovative ways to use mother-of-pearl. Grey and white mother-of-pearl cabochons sit between brilliant-cut diamonds. The sizes of both the pearl cabochons and the diamonds vary, adding visual complexity, volume and rhythm.

A Premier case with a Swiss heart

Since its debut in 1989, Harry Winston’s Premier Collection has been the designated series to showcase various artistic forms, and the Premier Majestic Art Deco is no exception. Instantly recognizable by the distinctive diamond-set lugs that reimagine the entrance to Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon, the 18-karat white gold case is set with 57 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel with truncated diamonds in the crown and tips of the lugs.

The Premier Majestic Art Deco Automatic 36mm is powered by a high-end Swiss mechanical automatic movement with a generous 72-hour power reserve. The movement, with its 18-karat white gold skeletonized rotor and refined hand finishes, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. Equipped with the latest technology in the form of a flat silicon balance spring, this timepiece is designed with both everlasting beauty and precision in mind.

In keeping with the black and white color scheme, a black pearl alligator strap accompanies the timepiece and attaches to the wrist with a white gold ardillon buckle set with 17 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Harry Winston – AVENUE Classic 20 th Anniversary Moon Phase

Harry WinstonAVENUE Classic 20th Anniversary Moon Phase Gold Diamonds Limited Edition

Harry Winston celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Avenue collection with a celestial white gold timepiece featuring a poetic moon phase complication and allusions to the architecture of the House’s famous Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Painting the colors of the sunrise with mother-of-pearl and precious gemstones across the dial and bracelet, this limited edition timepiece, of just 20 pieces, marks the dawn of a new decade for the iconic Avenue.

The birth of an icon

Released twenty years ago, the Avenue collection pays tribute to the address that witnessed the rise of Harry Winston’s extraordinary jewelry empire. Founded in New York in 1932 at the apogee of the Art Deco movement, Harry Winston eventually established his namesake brand on the city’s prestigious Fifth Avenue. The inspiration for the rectangular case is two-fold, taking design cues from the elegant, streamlined styling associated with the Art Deco period and appropriating architectural elements from Harry Winston’s New York Salon.

The rectangular case of the Avenue Classic 20th Anniversary Moon Phase timepiece is set with 50 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, case bands, and crown. At the top of the case, marked by two brilliant-cut diamonds, are the hallmark arches of the Avenue collection, a tribute to the grand arched doorway that leads to the Fifth Avenue Salon, a gateway to the glamorous world of Harry Winston. The elongated 18-karat white gold case of the timepiece is slim and expertly designed to sit perfectly on the wrist.

A celestial dial

The dial is crafted in natural mother-of-pearl, delicately hand-painted in a gradation of colors that transition from dark blue at the base to an ethereal shade of purple at the top. The captivating sunrise features an aperture for the moon phase complication. Marking the 20th anniversary of the Avenue collection, this limited edition timepiece features a moon phase counter that has been maximized to magnify the beauty of our celestial neighbour. The moon completes its cycle against a sparkling blue night sky accompanied by stars.

Diamonds are perennial favorites at Harry Winston and play a significant role on the dial. Crowning the 18-karat white gold Harry Winston Emerald applique at 12 o’clock are brilliant-cut diamonds in marquise-shaped white gold settings that recall Harry Winston’s signature clustering technique.

A closer inspection reveals that the cluster of diamonds framing the logo together with the vertical rows of diamonds in the center of the dial, recreate the arched doorway of Harry Winston’s New York Salon. The door is flanked by more cluster-style diamonds, and just below the moon phase aperture, a semi-circle of diamonds serves as the small seconds counter on the dial.

The art of color gradation in gemstones

Once again, the expertise of Harry Winston’s gem-setters comes to life on the extraordinary 18-karat white gold bracelet, which features 216 blue and purple sapphires, in varying shades, in unique two-row arrangements, and 66 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The fully-set bracelet is composed of three flexible white gold links, with the outer links recreating the shape of Harry Winston’s famous arched entrance. Like the dial, the bracelet highlights the art of color gradation through precious gemstones. With varying intensity and saturation, the blue and purple sapphires on the bracelet echo the color scheme of the dial and gently transition from darker, more intensely saturated gemstones at the top, to softer hues that eventually fade into the brilliant white diamonds near the clasp.

Harry Winston – Project Z13 Zalium Edition

Harry WinstonProject Z13 Zalium™ Limited Edition

Meticulous and poetic, angular and smooth, powerful and comfortable, Project Z13 is steeped in paradoxes. This is a timepiece with an architectural structure that is expertly orchestrated to simultaneously project an impression of asymmetry and order. Featuring a moon phase display and a retrograde date, a first for the collection, its supporting structures rely on the aesthetic language of mechanics. Still made of Zalium™ with a high-mech spirit, Project Z13 continues on its radical path, confirming that Harry Winston’s Zalium™ timepieces can continue to surprise and transform.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Project Z13 reaffirms the fundamental design principles behind the Project Z collection with precision and force. While architectural structure is one of the founding features of the collection, it reaches new heights with this timepiece. Supported by transverse arms, two reading elements occupy the top and bottom of Project Z13. At twelve o’clock, the traditional openworked dial, with its excentered hours and minutes, stands out as a bold design element in the collection. At six o'clock, the House of Harry Winston presents a moon phase display for the very first time in this collection committed to Zalium™. Isolated to better stand out, this feature appears to be suspended and independent thanks to its graphic design.

The moon

The image selected for the moon is an aesthetic hallmark of the House and an affirmation of its symbols. In order to make the first moon phase display in the Project Z collection as unique as possible, the House opted for its Shuriken symbol, a star that has been part of the Project Z design vocabulary from the very beginning. And to round out this interpretation of Harry Winston's exclusive moon, the design is not circular, but dodecagonal in form. Its 12 facets hug the cutout of the moon cover, the fixed section that reveals the display of the moon's crescents. Through this design, the moon display reflects the dual nature of Project Z13: a timepiece as smooth as it is meticulous.

Materials

A central theme in the Project Z collection, the materials used in Project Z13 take center stage. First, the 42.2 mm case is made entirely of Zalium™, the light and powerful signature Harry Winston alloy, whose initial provided the name for the collection. In addition, for the first time this Project Z timepiece also uses carbon elements. The four arms that hold the moon cover and the outer section of the chapter ring are fitted with carbon fiber inserts.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The HW3202 caliber also has a retrograde date, a display feature that is used repeatedly in the collection. Its wide range occupies the entire lower half of the dial

Structures

In addition to these functional areas, which are intended to provide information at a glance, the HW3202 caliber is visible through the large openings afforded by the supporting structures of the dial. This reveals the caliber in all its splendor, enabling the finishes of the timepiece to be admired down to the smallest detail, including the radial Cotes de Geneves motif.

The shade of blue

This blue, a symbol of the House of Harry Winston, is frequently highlighted in Project Z. For the thirteenth edition, this color is present on the hands, the background of the starry moon disc, the date area, the Harry Winston emerald located at twelve o’clock and the elements surrounding the excentered dial. Finally, it is also found in the top-stitching of the black rubber-and-calfskin strap.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This particular blue is lively and vibrant, embodying the energy that is unique to Project Z. Just like its predecessors, Project Z13 is a sporty model. This complicated timepiece is designed for people with an active lifestyle who are also concerned about ergonomics and comfort. In terms of exclusivity, this timepiece is limited to only 300 pieces, a feature that has been common among the Project Z timepieces for thirteen yeas.

Harry Winston – Histoire de Tourbillon 10 Edition

Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 10 - Unique Collection 10th Anniversary Timepiece 2019

For the first time ever, Harry Winston uses four distinct tourbillons in a Histoire de Tourbillon creation. Arranged in perfectly symmetrical order, the four independent, adjacent cores rotate in 36 seconds, their high-precision steps unified by a series of three differentials. Together, they make Histoire de Tourbillon 10 a timepiece dedicated to superlative chronometry, with a unique design.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Having previously used tourbillons with single, double or triple axes, combined (or not) with single or double tourbillons or a carousel, Harry Winston's latest creation makes a big impression with a new achievement in watchmaking. For the first time ever, a wristwatch produced as a series is equipped with four tourbillons. This achievement, which translates into an equally impressive design, represents a milestone in the story of the Histoire de Tourbillon collection.

A milestone

Histoire de Tourbillon 10 marks the 10th anniversary of the Harry Winston collection, dedicated to the reigning complication in contemporary fine watchmaking.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

A decade of perseverance and innovation has pushed the boundaries of what the tourbillon can do. This year, the collection culminates in two timepieces -- 10 of each -- and a special edition Winstonium model, limited to just one unique piece.

A dream vehicle

A rectangular case was needed to realize the Histoire de Tourbillon 10 complication. At 53.3 mm wide and 39.1 mm tall, the piece is as much a vessel as it is a watch.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The four tourbillons of the HW4702 caliber, which has no less than 673 components, can be seen in the four corners of the case, housed in a glass box of impressive proportions and supported by two transverse bridges. Carved like three- dimensional wings, openworked and sculptural, they round out the impression of symmetry that emerges from Histoire de Tourbillon 10.

Distributed operation

The idea behind using multiple regulating mechanisms is to take advantage of the qualities of each one and harness their unique way of reacting to gravity, the effects of which the tourbillon is designed to offset. Thus, they do not mark the same time, but the same time must be given, so the operation of these mechanisms is unified by three differentials.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The first is connected to the two tourbillons on the left, while the second is connected to those on the right side of the case. The third, which is large and located in a central position, does the job of averaging the two previous differentials and transmitting its information to the juxtaposed hands.

Distributed power

The tourbillons are a major source of precision for Histoire de Tourbillon 10, but they are not alone. Chronometry relies on other factors, including the quality of the power flow that feeds the regulating mechanisms. The closer this flow is to complete consistency, the smoother and more accurate the movement of the tourbillons is.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This phenomenon is made possible by two pairs of fast-winding barrels that are overlaid, mounted successively, and then connected to the tourbillons. As a result, the energy is not shared across the four corners of the movement, but distributed as required.

Center stage

The Histoire de Tourbillon 10 dial is a single component sapphire piece, with complex and perfectly symmetrical volumetry. Its central part is a hollow circle that hosts the 12 hour markers for the chapter ring. It extends upwards and downwards through a rectangular extension that carries the two large numbers 6 and 12.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The bezel of this exceptional timepiece also uses volume in a distinctive way because it is chamfered and beveled, and features greater elevation at 6 and 12 o'clock. At these two sensitive points, the bezel is marked by two notches, which, together with the variation in height, trace the three Harry Winston arches. This reference to the architecture of the entrance to the iconic Fifth Avenue Showroom is one of the specific signatures of Harry Winston timepieces.

In contrast

The surface coloring of the HW4702 caliber rounds out the personality of the three versions of Histoire de Tourbillon 10. The unique Winstonium piece can be recognized by its two large blue tourbillon bridges, a color borrowed from the gearwheel bridges inside the case, while the rest of the platinum is completely rhodium-plated. The white gold model features rhodium-plated tourbillon bridges and a dark gray platinum.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This shade is repeated on the back of the barrel bridge. Finally, the version with the rose gold case inverts its colors in the barrel bridges and features a rhodium-plated platinum. The strap of each Histoire de Tourbillon echoes the various models. The Winstonium and white gold versions are mounted on alligator leather with large scales and topstitched with a 950 platinum thread. And, the pink gold version launches a new bracelet color: black with copper highlights enhanced by topstitching in rose gold thread. Elegant, sophisticated touches and a profound attention to the tiniest details allow for a series of truly unique timepieces.
