GoS Watches – Winter Nights III Edition

GoS WatchesWinter Nights III Damascus Steel and Yellow Gold Limited Edition 2026

A Legacy Reforged

When Winter Nights was introduced in 2013, it marked a defining moment for GoS. Developed in collaboration with a close circle of collectors, it became the world’s first collector-driven subscription watch in Damascus steel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It introduced a stainless Damascus steel case paired with the GoS01 manufacture movement, whose bridges were forged from carbon Damascus steel — each component finished and reworked until the result matched the intention, the way a painter returns to a canvas until the composition is resolved.

The name “Winter Nights” (Vetrnaetr) refers to the Viking transition from summer to the winter half of the year in mid-October — a turning point both solemn and celebratory. In a culture that counted time in winters rather than summers, the name reflects endurance, rhythm, and respect for the cycles of nature.

Damascus steel and Gold in Dialogue

Winter Nights III returns to this foundation while refining its architecture. The chapter ring combines the sculptural form of the original solid gold design with the dimensional structure first introduced in the Sarek model.

Strong bevels, sharply defined transitions, and carefully controlled surface finishing create depth while maintaining clarity and legibility.

The dial remains a collaboration at its core. Bladesmith Conny Persson has further developed the signature "wildflower" Damascus pattern.

In the GoS atelier, Patrik Sjögren machines, recesses, and hand-finishes each dial through a meticulous iterative process, revealing contrast and depth within the steel itself.

Ancient Patina, Modern Technique

The defining feature of Winter Nights III is the union of 18k Swedish gold with a newly developed dark stainless Damascus steel. Traditionally, stainless steel could only be darkened through surface coatings.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

A proprietary process developed by Patrik Sjögren allows a deep, permanent patina to form within the steel — bonded to the material rather than applied onto it.

The result evokes the weathered surface of Viking-era bracelets unearthed after centuries in the earth.

The dark Damascus case ring is framed by a hand-finished bezel and caseback in polished 18k Swedish gold — a deliberate contrast between shadow and light, age and refinement.

Crafted in the GoS Atelier

The gold components begin with traditional casting in collaboration with a Swedish master goldsmith before returning to the GoS atelier for machining and finishing.

Each part is brought to final tolerance and surface refinement by hand. All engraving is designed and executed by Patrik Sjögren.

With this development in case manufacturing, GoS can now offer all current models in precious metals, while maintaining the same level of material exploration, hand-finishing, and independence that defines the brand.

Louis Erard x GoS – Le Rrrgulateur Damascus Dial Edition

Louis Erard x GoS Watches Le Régulateur Louis Erard x GoS Damascus Dial Edition 2025

A JOURNEY TO SWEDEN, TO THE FORGES OF DAMASCUS STEEL

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Finding the right rhythm, striking the right balance between two cultures and two crafts – it took patience and vision. In December 2021, Louis Erard and GoS Watches were brought together by Manuel Emch, the architect of Louis Erard's strategic revival and creative transformation. He found a kindred spirit in Patrik Sjögren, watchmaker and founder of the Swedish workshop GoS.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Together, they envisioned a timepiece that would blend the essence of both Maisons: the technical precision and aesthetic refinement of the Swiss Jura married to the artistry of a Swedish forge, where masters of Damascus steel conjure mesmerizing patterns and contrasts in an almost alchemical process. After three years of dedication, the result is extraordinary – a series of 178 pieces of The Louis Erard Regulator X GoS, each one infused with the resolute spirit of the North.

While Swedish and Swiss craftsmanship evolved worlds apart, they are united by shared values: mastery of handcraft, a deep connection to nature, the power of materials, and a distinct, unmistakable aesthetic. A GoS timepiece is as instantly recognizable as a Louis Erard. Merging our two DNAs while honoring each brand’s identity was a meticulous process. We had to let the Damascus steel speak—its raw intensity and uniqueness commanding attention—while shaping it in a way that seamlessly integrates our signature design codes.” Manuel Emch.

Snow and Steel in Fusion

Linköping, 200 kilometers from Stockholm, is hardly the watchmaking capital of the world, yet it is here that master watchmaker Patrik Sjögren has chosen to establish his atelier. A craftsman who takes his time, he shapes and assembles each piece by hand, ensuring that every watch is truly unique

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

His creations center around the extraordinary use of Damascus steel, a material he entrusts exclusively to his friend and fellow Swede, blacksmith Conny Persson. Together, these two masters—watchmaker and blacksmith—are the very soul of GoS, founded in 2007.

It was only natural that the paths of Louis Erard and GoS would eventually meet, drawn together by a shared independent spirit, a deep reverence for nature, a commitment to local craftsmanship, and a passion for limited-edition creations, distinctive design, and uncompromising mechanical precision. The Régulateur Louis Erard X GoS is the result—a timepiece born from an artistic bridge between Switzerland and Sweden.

A Tribute to the Art of Damascus Steel

Each timepiece is housed in an elegantly proportioned 39mm steel case, framing a Damascus steel dial that makes every watch truly unique

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Forged by Conny Persson and meticulously hand-finished by Patrik Sjögren, each dial undergoes a proprietary bath treatment that intensifies its contrasts—brightening the gray tones while deepening the blacks, creating a striking visual depth. While the overall geometry remains consistent, inspired by the intricate veins of trees found in both Swedish and Swiss forests, no two dials are ever alike, as each steel pattern is shaped by the unpredictable nature of the forging process.

Floating above this one-of-a-kind surface are three distinctive blue hands, arranged in the classic Régulateur configuration. The design embodies GoS’s signature aesthetic, from the triskelion-inspired small seconds counter at 6 o’clock to the sharply notched hour and minute tracks, also a hallmark of the brand’s design syntax.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The timepiece is presented on an equally nature-inspired strap crafted from salmon leather—a first for Louis Erard – paying homage to GoS’s Nordic origins, nestled between the Baltic and North Sea.

The Louis Erard Régulateur x GoS is limited to just 178 pieces, in keeping with all Louis Erard collaborations. A number rich in symbolism, its calligraphy conveys "stronger together" — a motto that has never been more fitting than for the union of Louis Erard and GoS.

GoS Watches – Design by Martin Key Edition

GoS Watches – Design by Martin Key Unique Limited Edition 2024

GoS - design by Martin Key

In early 2024, GoS watchmaker Patrik Sjögren and Swedish fashion designer Martin Key met and realized that their shared passion for craftsmanship and attention to detail could lead to something extraordinary. This watch is the result of their collaboration, combining Martin Key’s design elements and color choices with the unique Damascus steel dials and design features of GoS. As with all GoS watches, it is machined, finished, and assembled by Patrik Sjögren in the GoS Atelier in Linköping, Sweden.

A significant hallmark of Martin Key’s work, the octagon, is featured prominently: “My hallmark, the octagon, has been with me since day one, making a powerful statement that entails a powerful commitment.” Martin Key incorporated this by designing a solid yet elegant index ring in 18k gold with a deep chamfered octagon. Large purple and black diamonds serve as hour markers, reflecting the color palette of Martin Key’s products: gold, purple, and black.

GoS, recognized as the original Damascus steel premium watch brand, introduced the first watches with pattern-welded steel details in 2008. The dials are now hand-forged by bladesmith artisan Conny Persson in his well-equipped smithy in Los, Hälsingland, Sweden. Conny has refined the GoS Damascus pattern, known as Wildflower, to be more symmetrical, matching the eight sides of the octagon index ring.

Patrik Sjögren developed a new finishing technique to darken the dial while still showcasing its intricate pattern. Each dial is unique, but all watches share the same expression. Patrik also applied a new plating technique to the hands, making the high-gloss polished GoS arrowhead hands as dark as possible. The result is an extreme contrast between reflections and shadows, enhancing legibility on the dark dial, in a way painted watch dials can’t achieve. We call this “Phantom Black,” a first in the watch industry.

The caseback engraving features another Martin Key design element, the signature zipper: “This is a hallmark that symbolizes the paths we take in life, which can be as smooth and effortless as a well-functioning zipper but also met with obstacles and unexpected turns. Much like a zipper that may get stuck and need replacing, it mirrors life’s challenges and adventures, and the resilience required to move past them.”

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The technical specifications of the watch are based on the second edition of the GoS Sarek collection, which Patrik worked on for two years. The updated Sarek is slightly smaller in diameter at 41.5mm, and despite the thicker new movement, its thickness remains nearly the same. Extensive refinement of existing design elements is evident, such as in the shortened and reshaped lugs to match the GoS crown.

La Joux Perret
introduced a new automatic movement in 2021, which powers the second edition of Sarek. This movement features a 68-hour power reserve and 24 bearing jewels.

The G101 movements are manufactured to GoS specifications, including an anthracite finish, and are equipped with a skeletonized and beveled rotor. Patrik applies a nano-ceramic coating to the rotor, adding another Martin Key’s color element, further embellished with a gold-finished GoS triskele emblem.

GoS watches – Northern lights for Ukraine Edition

GoS watchesNorthern lights for Ukraine – Artpiece Unique Edition 2022

GoS Norrsken UA 1/1

The watch community quickly came together to arrange support for Ukraine in various ways and a blue-yellow Rolex work of art by the watch connoisseur and editor Balazs Ferenczi was an early and elegant example.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Northern lights for Ukraine project started in the first days of March 2022 after a discussion between Patrik Sjögren from GoS and the artist Sunflowerman (Matthew Miller).

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The GoS Norrsken northern lights watch was selected as a basis for the project with the blue and yellow dial created by Balazs as the main inspiration. Matthew immediately began the demanding procedure of replicating the watch design by hand while Patrik worked out a method to create a two-tone guilloche dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Sunflowerman with his interpretation of Northern lights for Ukrain

Patrik selected a special dial for the project - a guilloche dial that has been through a lot in the GoS workshop, with microscopic battle-scars as evidence. After many attempts, he was finally able to apply the northern-light blue tone with a clean and horizontal line across the irregular guilloche pattern.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The yellow tone was then created by gold plating the other half of the dial. Mathew finished the art-piece with his trademark Sunflowerman color-wash technique in the colors of the Ukranian flag.

The art-piece and watch were both finalized just three weeks after the project was started thanks to hard work and support by movement manufacturer Schwarz Etienne who provided the movement with its special engraving.

The set will be auctioned as a combined lot during Sotheby´s Important Watches: Part II” with bidding opening on April 27th in Geneva.

We hope that the lot that we named Northern lights for Ukraine will generate great interest and a good result as all proceeds will be provided to Red Cross Ukraine.

About GoS

GoS Watches, is based in Sweden and was founded by bladesmith Johan Gustafsson and watchmaker Patrik Sjögren back in 2007. The firm celebrates its Scandinavian origins, taking inspiration from local nature and the history of the region.

The in-house expertise in patternwelded steel, also known as Damascus steel, combined with Sjögren’s skills at ‘the bench’ has attracted admirers from around the globe, especially from horophiles with a predilection for independent watchmaking.

The brand has established itself as the "King of damascus steel in Horology" while also incorporating other traditional and artistic handcraft info the time pieces. Northern lights has been a reoccurring source of inspiration for GoS and was re-interpreted during 2020 to be introduced with the Norrsken model in March 2021. This timepiece captures the appearance of swirling lights dancing across northern skies to emulate this natural phenomenon. The watch draws upon the expertise of various artisans and features a hand-cut guilloché dial and a micro-rotor movement. A handblown index ring, formed of Swedish crystal, allows an extraordinary degree of luminescence to pass through its clear surface, flooding the dial with vivid bright blue tones.

 ==============================

About Sunflowerman

Sunflowerman is a renowned fashion artist and has fashioned an identity all his own. After growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he lived in London, Milan, Paris, and New York, inspiring him to revive the lost art of men’s fashion illustration in a signature style. Sunflowerman works with clients around the globe creating unique content for brands and illustrating personalized portraits for businesses and individuals.

In 2014, he initiated a project where he would illustrate one watch submitted to him through social media and then show it to the world. Sunflowerman has since then released a book showing the product of this work and continues to have a high demand of watch illustrations from watch connoisseurs while working in Sundance Square, the heart of Fort Worth, TX.
