On the occasion of the Watches and Wonders event in Geneva, CYRUS Genève is pleased to present the brand new "ETHERAL" collection, featuring interesting watchmaking complications and a round case, an absolute first for the Maison.

After more than six years of work, the project launched in 2018 has become a reality. The Maison is proud to unveil the "Twin Orbital Tourbillon", the first member of the ETHERAL family which successfully combines an ultramodern style with avant-garde mechanics. Both have been conceived at the same time to achieve the ultimate horological level and a well-balanced, appealing design. The ETHERAL line embodies the pinnacle of horological artistry, representing a harmonious blend of watchmaking tradition and innovation crafted with emphasis on futuristic aesthetics, captivating the essence of its name through light, almost floating appearance.

 44 mm in diameter (excluding crowns and inserts) and 16.3 mm in thickness, it is complemented by a slender bezel that allows a wider dial opening, enhancing the harmonious arrangement of the mechanical elements that define the timepiece's functions.

The leading actors of the display are the jumping hour indication by means of two discs in the form of a truncated cone with an inclination angle of 18°, surmounted by a highly original triangular minute hand with curved arms and a luminescent tip, microbeaded with bevelled polished angles, and the two flying tourbillon which seem to be suspended in mid-air.

 Positioned on a frame, all these components perform a spectacular dance. The widest aperture of the display allows a perfect view of the jumping hour and the two flying tourbillon cages. The dial’s rotation has no effect on the reading of the time, which is always horizontal, whatever the position of its components.

 The watch face plays on the contrasting shades of black, anthracite and rose gold, with an array of exquisite finishes that enhance every detail. From the black PVD finish on the frame bridge, to the tetrahedral motifs, to the tourbillon cages’ gilded bridges reminiscent of the Cyrus logo with microbeaded and chamfered angles and perfectly match the style of the minute hand, to the bevelled-cut steel screw heads, some with a mirror-polished surface, others with an additional black PVD coating, nothing is left to chance. With three patents pending, this new calibre demonstrates how watchmaking continues to surprise by pushing the boundaries of what is known

 Subject to three patent applications, this extraordinary new hand-wound movement, calibre CYR518-E, equipping the “ETHERAL Twin Orbital Tourbillon”, is the result of the undisputed talent of Jean-François Mojon and his team. Comprising no fewer than 510 components, this powerful engine with a regulating organ operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), guarantees a 72-hour power reserve thanks to its two barrels.

This new-generation calibre provides the jumping hours on two discs that move around the dial while maintaining horizontal readability, as well as the two flying tourbillons, inclined at an angle of 20°, both of which rotate clockwise and linked together in a manner known by the state of the art.

One of the three patents that has been filed for this unprecedented movement concerns the balancing mechanism of the frame, requiring the development of a new and innovative solution to ensure perfect operation in the event of shocks. Positioning the centre of gravity on the pivoting axis is the first step in reducing the impact of shocks on the frame.

This nullifies the effects of linear shocks. However, angular accelerations always affect the frame and therefore the working components. The frame drives a rotating mass in opposite directions. When an impact or angular accelerations occurs, the dynamic effects are cancelled out because the inertias of the frame and the rotating mass are equal, and the direction of rotation is reversed.

The mechanism for displaying the time by combining the tens and units discs is the subject of the other two patent applications. One refers to the hour indicator. The hours appear on two discs driven by a single triangular-toothed star wheel through a 12-jump kinematic system. In addition to its simplicity, this mechanism also has the advantage of preventing any de-indexing.

A second patent pending is for the instant drive mechanism with surprise for unrestricted counter-clockwise time adjustment. The purpose of this device is to make the hour jump without double jumping and without desynchronisation when the time is set anti-clockwise.

The complex geometry of the upper tourbillon cage, which can only be produced using the most high-performance machining workshops, bears the brand's three-armed helix logo. It is adjusted by means of inertia blocks on the free-sprung balance wheel. Much attention has been paid to the aesthetics of the rear of the watch which echoes the sophisticated layout of the dial emphasized by refined finishes such as frosted and microbeaded surfaces, bevelled and polished edges, polished mirror screws and much more.

 As with other brand movements, such as the Klepcys Vertical Tourbillon, particular attention was focused to symmetry along the 12:00-9:00 axis. It is impossible not to notice that the inclined power-reserve disc, whose apertures change from white to black and then to red when the power reserve runs out, follows the shape of the unusual minute hand. Or the frosted, black PVD-coated barrel ratchet wheels engraved with the Cyrus logo.

CYRUS Genève, the independent Swiss brand with its Manufacture located in Le Locle, is expanding its KLEPCYS DICE collection.

A true technical innovation, KLEPCYS DICE – first introduced in summer 2021 - marks a new milestone in the chronograph complication in the 21st century. It was, in fact, the first wristwatch on the market to be equipped with two chronographs capable of functioning totally independently of each other, or in synchrony.

As the name suggests DICE is the acronym for DOUBLE INDEPENDENT CHRONOGRAPH EVOLUTION; a full-fledged revolution on the watchmaking scene which, for the very first time, sees two separate chronographic movements assembled in a single case.

Following the runaway success of the first edition of the KLEPCYS DICE, followed up with the KLEPCYS DICE LIME presented at this year's Watches and Wonders in Geneva, CYRUS Genève is now introducing a new version of this famous chronograph.

The KLEPCYS DICE RACING comes in two case variants , in a limited edition of just 15 pieces each.

Like its predecessors, KLEPCYS DICE RACING is inspired by sporting competitions, and especially by motor racing. It is a world very close to CYRUS Genève which, amongst other things, is one the official sponsor of the HAAS F1 team, including drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen.

This latest creation, brainchild of master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon, has a revamped look. But it also experiments with an innovative material the Maison has never used before: carbon fiber. Its highly resistant nature, along with its characteristic lightness, thermal insulation and flame resistance, ensure carbon fiber is an appealing choice.

KLEPCYS DICE RACING still retains its iconic cushion-shaped case with a diameter of 42 mm, available in polished/brushed grade-5 titanium, or black DLC-coated titanium which, for this latest addition, has been teamed with an all-new black matt carbon fiber bezel. As the carbon fibre is first layered and then machined, the surface of each bezel will be different from the other, thus giving each piece of KLEPCYS DICE RACING its uniqueness.

Despite the double crown set at 3 and 9, another hallmark feature of CYRUS Genève, the case is waterproof to 10 ATM. Crowns must, of course, be protected to avoid any water, moisture and dust issues, so twice as much attention is lavished on this crucial element of KLEPCYS collections!

The open-worked dial features a pleasing three-dimensional architecture that allows to delve into the very heart of this innovative mechanism designed and crafted at the Cyrus Manufacture. The detailing is picked out in red and electric blue, making it easier to read off the chronographic functions. The column wheels, the hands of the chrono counter at 3, the central second hands, the minutes on the flange and the monopusher crowns for engaging the two separate chronographs can thus be seen at a glance.

Both the chrono hands and the second hands are mirrored, with the latter resetting to 12 (red) and 6 (blue).

The small seconds counter is symmetrical to the minute chronograph counter, providing an aesthetically-pleasant, balanced effect; it is set at 9, with the original three-armed helix recalling the Maison’s logo and a luminescent tip. The small seconds counter and the 30-minute counter are both in anti-reflective smoked sapphire crystal, and surmounted by a bright red lacquered bridge that highlights them.

The open-worked rhodium-plated luminescent hands mark time on a shaped anti-refelctive sapphire crystal ring with raised Arabic numerals. These numerals are also luminescent, and emit a blue glow. This transparency allows an unhindered view of the stunning movement powering this masterpiece of fine watchmaking.

KLEPCYS DICE RACING is equipped with the Manufacture’s CYR718 automatic calibre which beats at 28,800 vibrations/hour, offering a 60-hour power reserve when fully charged with just one barrel. Comprising no less than 443 parts, of which 218 for the double independent chronograph, it is housed in a case which is just 16.5 mm thick: no mean feat when we remember it houses not one but two mainplates, treated with a black PVD and microbeaded finish, for the two chronograph modules.

But assembling this movement and its countless components in a small case was not the only challenge Jean-François Mojon had to tackle.

KLEPCYS DICE RACING features a double chronograph with two display axes; one for the chronograph seconds, and the other for the 30-minute counter. The chronographs are powered by two column wheels which in turn activate the levers and gears that move the seconds and 30-minute chronograph display.

Mojon and his technical team have devised a special insulating system to prevent shocks and dispersion of the energy generated when the chronograph levers are triggered, especially during the return-to-zero phase. This ensures the duration of the phenomenon is measured precisely, allowing the two chronographs to run independently without affecting one another.

An ingenious solution was also found for another challenge: an all-new concentric device has been devised for the motion work mechanism to read off the time. Not only

is this mechanism more compact, but it is coaxial to the axes of the hands, freeing up as much space as possible for this chronograph complication.

It is worth noting that the movement has been reversed to allow the chronograph mechanism to be visible on the dial side; this affords a fascinating view of the two column wheels that lie at the "heart" of this complication.

KLEPCYS DICE RACING offers an unimpeded view of its spectacular mechanics. So the sapphire crystal case-back was a must to allow the sunray-decorated bridges to be admired. The bridges alternate a polished/satin effect, and are coated with an anthracite-grey NAC finish which is also applied to the oscillating mass. The single-block rotor is open-worked and finished with a sunray design; the centre of the rotor, engraved with the motto “The Conquest of Innovation”, is embellished with the CYRUS helix in 18k 4N gold.

CYRUS EXTENDS ITS COLLECTION AND WELCOMES ITS LATEST CREATION: “KLEPCYS GMT RETROGRADE”

A complete new automatic manufacture movement, a specifically designed case with modified diameter and thickness, and a useful, instantly readable and user-friendly function are just some of its interesting characteristics.

CYRUS Geneva, the independent Swiss Maison with its manufacture based in Le Locle, is moving forward from its explorations into watchmaking complications such as the moonphase, alarm and vertical tourbillon to introduce a newcomer for 2020. This timepiece will further join the Klepcys collection: the newly-developed automatic movement sees a “second time zone” function, housed in a titanium case which is smaller than existing models.

The result is the KLEPCYS GMT RETROGRADE, yet another work of art which lives up to the high qualitative standards of traditional watchmaking. It is the brainchild of Jean-François Mojon, a master watchmaker deemed one of the most highly skilled and prolific of the twenty-first century.
CYRUS has incorporated one of the most useful functions a watch can have into this latest creation. We live in an age when many travel around the world, be it for business or pleasure. And timepieces with GMT allow two time zones to be displayed at the same time: local time and home time.

Traditionally indicated with the acronym GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), this function is named after the English town of Greenwich, through the middle of which runs the “0” meridian. From this reference point, other zones indicate time which is either ahead of (+) or behind (-)GMT. On January1st,1972, the GMT definition was replaced with the initials UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), even though GMT continues to be used. Now UTC represents a time benchmark worldwide.

For the first time, the ergonomic cushion-shaped case with elongated lugs is waterproof to no less than 10 ATM. The case has been resized and now comes in a diameter of 42 mm. The watch is thinner and ultra-light on the wrist as it is made of grade 5 titanium. Available in three versions, in natural polished titanium, two-tone with a black DLC titanium bezel and all black DLC titanium, with its characteristic crowns set at 3h and 9h.

The 3h crown is easy to pull out and turn, thanks to the caoutchouc rubber ring that envelops the crowns and improves grip. The 9h crown is fix and incorporates a pusher for a quick set function.

The original three-dimensional structure of the dial, long a key feature of the Swiss Maison’s masterpieces, is achieved with overlapping layers that give the watch depth and a style all of its own.

The first element is a transparent antireflective sapphire disc with Arabic luminescent numerals indicating the hours of local time . On the minutes ring each 5 minutes indicators are also luminescent.
The transparent sapphire crystal showcases the upper plate of the movement, which has an elegant sunray openworked pattern. The result is an appealing “squelette” effect which gives enthusiasts and collectors alike the chance to dive into the very heart of the watch and follow the harmonious movement of wheels and gears. The golden hue adds a further delicate colour contrast.

 The display of the KLEPCYS GMT RETROGRADE is completed with a blue lacquer ring, with a luminescent indication of the 24-hour second time zone in even Arabic numerals. This is interrupted at 6h to make room for the small seconds.
The star of this subdial, which is adorned with the typical raised triangle embellishment and black PVD treatment, is the blue three-armed helix, the Cyrus logo; it has been given a luminescent finish, allowing the seconds to be read off.
The end result is an exquisite dial which is harmonious in its many details. The indications are intuitive and can be read off with ease.

 During the design phase, CYRUS opted to set local time as the main time; it is displayed with the newly-designed, open-worked rhodium-plated hands.

Now the two crowns come into play. In the first position, the crown at 3h is used to wind the movement. In the second position, it adjusts the hour and minute hands of local time. These rotate at the same time as the blue central retrograde hand with a luminescent triangular tip to indicate the home time. Subsequently, by pressing the push button of the crown set at 9h, the local time hand jumps by one hour each time it is pressed until it displays the desired local time. During adjustment, indications of the minutes and the home time remain unchanged. Thus adjusting to the correct time zone while travelling is made extremely simple.

KLEPCYS GMT RETROGRADE has been painstakingly designed. It is driven by a powerful customised “engine”which offers outstanding precision performance.  Working with his team of skilled watchmakers and constructors, Jean-François Mojon has developed the new CYR708 in-house automatic calibre. Designed to be robust and reliable, it is set apart by a design that lives up to the brand’s philosophy. Its annular balance wheel beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, achieving a power reserve of 55 hours.

The sapphire crystal case back also makes it possible to admire the meticulous work of the skilled craftsmen, who decorate the anthracite grey NAC bridges with slightly curved sunrays in a satin  and microbillé finish. The single-block oscillating mass is openworked with a style which recalls the design on the plate as seen from the dial.

KLEPCYS GMTRETROGRADE comes complete with a customised black caoutchouc rubber strap with a central groove bearing the Cyrus symbol. It fastens with a folding customised clasp in titanium.
