This unique Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light” is a tribute to Swedish pole vault legend Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. The Olympic Games champion wore the timepiece when he claimed gold and set a new World Record at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, clearing the bar at 6.25m.

Crafted from sand-blasted Gamma Titanium, the 41 mm case is accompanied by a sand-blasted silicon nitride bezel ring.

For the blue anodized dial, OMEGA has used sand-blasted Grade 5 titanium, and included an engraved horizontal stripe pattern.

Alongside the blackened indexes and hour-minute hands with Super-LumiNova, there is also a yellow varnished 3D laser-shaped cylindrical central seconds hand inspired by a Pole Vault.

The watch is presented on a blue and yellow integrated strap made from rubber and nylon fabric. Behind the sapphire crystal caseback, you’ll find the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8928 Ti – guaranteeing the industry’s highest standard of precision, performance, and magnetic-resistance. The entire watch is delivered inside a special presentation box.

All the bridges and plates are in ceramicized titanium which, according to Omega, means “there’s less friction between the components.” Given the uncompromising use of low-friction, synthetic jewels for every important, high-friction fitting inside modern wristwatch movements, I am not sure at what point do the ceramicized titanium plates make a difference in reducing friction.

On the upside of things, the Omega Caliber 8928 Titanium is a Master Chronometer, meaning it can resist magnetic fields as strong as 15,000 Gauss — and, of course, it comes with a co-axial escapement. Omega designed Caliber 8928 without an automatic winding system, most certainly to further reduce overall weight and heft.

The series-coupled, double-barrel movement offers 72 hours of power reserve and is displayed on the caseback of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light. 

Designed to resist glare from the sun, OMEGA's matte Aqua Terra finish makes bold use of yellow on the seconds hand, Seamaster logo, quarter-hour numerals and strap stitching. A range of colour options are also available.
