Mühle-Glashütte S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN Edition

Muhle GlashutteS.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN “HERMANN MARWEDESpecial Edition - 2022

Ready for any mission

Always ready: Just like the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer supports the sea rescuers in rescue operations on the North and Baltic Seas, the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN supports its wearer in every task or challenge he has set himself – may it be at sea, on the coast or in the mountains.

The new Mühle watch not only features a sporty and functional design, but also has a completely redesigned housing. This has a diameter of 43 millimeters and like the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer the rounded, closed lugs.

When the sea rescuers are called to their missions, every minute often counts. Everyone has the goal in mind as long as the sea rescue cruiser plows through the waves, everyone fulfills his task with great concentration: Because it is important to rescue people from distress at sea or to protect them from impending dangers at sea.

The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer supports the foreman of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) for more than 20 years. To mark its anniversary, we are expanding our S.A.R. family with a new model. This makes use of the experiences from the rough everyday life of sea rescuers and transfers them to a timepiece for sea and coast, land and mountains: the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN.

The new Mühle watch can unfold its full potential, especially in areas of application in which a timepiece that is as light as it is easy to wear is important – whether it is conquering a house-high wave when surfing, a demanding 4000m peak when hiking in the mountains or the inner weak dog before the morning one jogging round. No matter what mission you go on with it: The S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN is the perfect companion for this.

Cooperation since February 2002

The case of the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN is made of particularly light and biocompatible titanium. With its screw-down crown, it can withstand water pressure of up to 50 bar, putting it somewhere between the Sea-Timer BlackMotion and S.A.R. Rescue-Timer on.

The fact that the cooperation with the sea rescuers is the basis for the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN shows the case back at first glance. The case back is provided with a finely detailed engraving, which shows the coastline of Germany and the operational area of the sea rescuers on the North and Baltic Seas. On the other hand, the locations of the sea rescue headquarter in Bremen and the Mühle Glashütte manufactory in the eastern Ore Mountains are indicated in the engraving.

Special edition "Unikat 2022" with exclusive engravings

The case back also makes the difference when it comes to the regular collection watch and the special series of 63 unique pieces to launch the new S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN.

Because every case back of this limited edition is engraved with the name and silhouette of one of the 63 sea rescue cruisers or boats of the current rescue fleet of the DGzRS – and therefore is an absolutely unique piece.

In addition, the 63 unique S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN are presented in a special watch case created in partnership with the family business Koehler Paper and the communications agency Lehanka. This packaging was made from a very high-quality and sustainable watch packaging of recycled paper.

The top of the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN is crowned by a scratch-resistant black ceramic bezel. It encloses a 3 millimetre thick, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, which allows an unclouded view of the extremely readable dial at all times.

In the new Mühle watch, this has a finely subdivided minute track, with which the time can be read with an accuracy of up to an eighth of a second.

Terrific readability at night

The dial continues to show that it belongs to the S.A.R. family with its distinctive triangles at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock and the wide indices with minute numerals.

These are not simply covered with luminous material, but are manufactured with the help of recessed cut-outs that can accommodate an extremely large amount of luminous material. In this way, they ensure superb readability at night and in the dark.

Finally, there is the large date of the S.A.R. Mission-Timer TITAN. In the new S.A.R. model, it is around 30 percent larger than in comparable watches, making it easy to read the date without a magnifying glass.

In addition to the large date, it is equipped with the efficient Mühle rotor and the particularly shock-resistant woodpecker neck fine adjustment. In this way, the automatic movement is regulated in six positions and adjusted in such a way that its rate values are between 0 and +8 seconds/day.

About the DGzRS

The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) is responsible for the maritime search and rescue service in the German areas of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. In order to fulfill its tasks, it keeps around 60 sea rescue cruisers and boats ready for action at 55 stations between Borkum in the west and Usedom in the east – around the clock, in all weathers. 180 permanent employees and around 800 voluntary sea rescuers carry out around 2,000 missions every year.

The entire independent and self-responsible work of the sea rescuers is financed exclusively by voluntary donations, without claiming tax money. Since the DGzRS was founded in 1865, its crews have rescued more than 86,000 people from distress at sea or from imminent danger. The Federal President is the patron of the rescue work.
