ZENITH – DEFY Extreme Ultraviolet 45 Titanium Chronograph

ZENITHDEFY Extreme Ultraviolet 45 mm Titanium Chronograph - 2026

 THE DEFY EXTREME ULTRAVIOLET
HIGH FREQUENCY IN A DIFFERENT SPECTRUM.

The Defy Extreme Ultraviolet takes its name from one of the most intense regions of the light spectrum, a fitting reference for a watch pushing mechanical precision far beyond conventional limits, with a 5 Hz frequency for timekeeping and an astonishing 50 Hz frequency dedicated to its chronograph function. Far more than an aesthetic choice, ultraviolet symbolizes heightened performance, energy and intensity, reflecting Zenith’s relentless pursuit of high-frequency precision.

The Defy Extreme Ultraviolet revisits a distinctive colour and material language first explored by the Manufacture with the Defy 21 Ultraviolet in 2020. That striking interpretation of contemporary horology introduced a violet-toned movement housed within a matte sandblasted titanium case. The Defy Extreme Ultraviolet now reinterprets this visual identity through the sharper and more architectural silhouette of the Defy Extreme.

Its angular 45mm case is crafted entirely from matte microblasted titanium, creating a dark, almost reflectionless appearance that reinforces the graphic geometry of the watch. This muted finish accentuates the Defy Extreme’s sculptural character while shifting the focus toward the purity of its lines and construction. Titanium also proves particularly suited to a watch of this scale, offering an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio that keeps the case remarkably light and comfortable on the wrist. Naturally hypoallergenic and highly resistant, it reinforces the Defy Extreme’s uncompromising approach to performance and wearability.

The Defy Extreme Ultraviolet combines violet-tinted sapphire elements with matching violet subdials arranged in a layered geometric construction that creates both visual depth and a strong sense of technical precision. Transparency becomes an integral part of the design language, revealing the movement’s architecture beneath.

The display features central hours and minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a 60-second counter at 6 o’clock. Completing the composition, the central chronograph hand performs one full rotation every second, ensuring exceptional readability while enabling precise measurement to 1/100th of a second. The chronograph power reserve indication is positioned at 12 o’clock.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This technical achievement is made possible by the dual-escapement architecture of the El Primero 9004 calibre. The movement incorporates two independent escapements, each operating at its own dedicated high frequency. The first beats at 5 Hz (36,000 VpH) for standard timekeeping, while the second operates at an extraordinary 50 Hz (360,000 VpH) exclusively for the chronograph.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This second escapement drives the chronograph hand through one full rotation every second, making 1/100th-of-a-second measurements fully visible and immediately readable. On the reverse side, Zenith’s signature star-shaped oscillating weight is rendered in violet, extending the colour concept throughout the movement.

True to its versatile spirit, the Defy Extreme Ultraviolet is delivered on a violet rubber strap with folding clasp and comes with two additional options: a microblasted titanium bracelet and a black high-performance Velcro strap. Thanks to the Defy Extreme’s intuitive interchangeable strap system, each can be swapped effortlessly, allowing the watch to move easily between technical use and everyday wear.

ZENITH CELEBRATES THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED STATES WITH THE CHRONOMASTER REVIVAL LIBERTY II

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, Zenith unveils the Chronomaster Revival Liberty II, a special edition that continues a story shaped by a longstanding dialogue between the Manufacture and the American spirit. Following the success of the first Chronomaster Revival Liberty, a North America-exclusive release inspired by the bold aesthetic codes of the late 1960s, this new chapter deepens the narrative with a more symbolic and commemorative approach.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

More than a tribute piece, Liberty II draws on a deeper historical connection, one that traces back to the visionary mindset of founder Georges Favre-Jacot. After a journey to the United States, he found inspiration in the country’s emerging industrial model, shaping his ambition to establish the first fully integrated watch Manufacture in Switzerland.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This new creation stands as both a tribute to that definig moment and a continuation of the entrepreneurial spirit that has guided Zenith ever since, while naturally extending the Liberty editions into a series appreciated by collectors.

In the mid-19th century, Swiss watchmaking operated under the traditional établissage system, where components were produced separately before final assembly. It was during a formative journey to the United States that Georges Favre-Jacot discovered a radically different approach. Struck by the efficiency and modernity of American industrial organization, this experience became a defining catalyst for his vision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Determined to rethink the very structure of watchmaking production, he set out to bring together all craft under one roof—laying the foundations for the first fully integrated Swiss watch Manufacture and redefining standards of precision and consistency.

At only 22 years old, Favre-Jacot drove this vision with remarkable entrepreneurial determination. Heexpanded the Manufacture far beyond conventional boundaries, developing tools, machines and entire infrastructures to support production.

His ambition was clear: to create the “perfect watch”, where technical mastery and refinement would exist in complete harmony. This enduring commitment to mechanical integrity remains deeply embedded in Zenith’s identity today.

The Chronomaster Revival Liberty II revisits one of the Manufacture’s most emblematic references, the A384 from 1969, faithfully reproducing its distinctive 37mm tonneau-shaped case. Crafted in stainless steel and offered alongside an ultra-limited forged carbon version, it stays true to its original design while embracing a contemporary edge.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Its white-lacquered dial with blue counters is accented by a striped chronograph hand drawing inspiration from the American flag, featuring 13 alternating red and white stripes in reference to the original colonies. The tachymeter scale is rendered in blue throughout, with the “250” and the “4” on the date disc highlighted in red — subtle touches that echo both the colours of the American flag and the symbolic date of independence.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

At its heart beats the El Primero 400 calibre, a direct descendant of the world-renowed 1969 movement, the world’s first automatic, integrated high-frequency chronograph. Operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), it enables precise measurement to the nearest tenth of a second, with a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. Visible through the transparent caseback, the movement reflects the Manufacture’s expertise and legacy.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Chronomaster Revival Liberty II is released in two exclusive versions: a stainless steel edition limited to 250 pieces, echoing the anniversary it celebrates, and a forged carbon edition limited to just 25 pieces, offering a more contemporary interpretation.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The stainless steel model comes with two strap options: a stainless steel ladder bracelet and a blue Cordura-effect rubber strap prioritizing comfort and adaptability. In contrast, the carbon edition is offered solely with the blue Cordura-effect rubber strap. Both editions are exclusively available in the United States.

With the Chronomaster Revival Liberty II, Zenith celebrates more than a historic milestone. It reflects a defining moment in its history: when a journey across the Atlantic helped shape a vision that continues to guide the Manufacture’s pursuit of precision to this day.

ZENITHDEFY Extreme Lapis Lazuli Chronograph 45 mm Steel and Yellow Gold Special Edition - 2025

ZENITH DEFY EXTREME LAPIS LAZULI:
PRECISION THAT RADIATES IN BLUE

As part of its 160th anniversary celebrations, Zenith continues to pay tribute to its rich heritage through creations that combine natural beauty with technical brilliance. With its deep celestial blue, lapis lazuli perfectly echoes Zenith’s signature hue, a symbol of infinity, precision and the pursuit of excellence.

The Manufacture now unveils an extraordinary expression of its most daring and technologically advanced chronograph: the Defy Extreme Lapis Lazuli, produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Housed in a striking combination of microblasted yellow gold and polished steel, the 45mm DEFY Extreme Lapis Lazuli reveals a captivating openworked dial crafted from this celestial blue stone. Through its translucent depth, the dial offers glimpses of the groundbreaking movement within, a mechanical marvel capable of measuring 1/100th of a second with absolute precision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The DEFY Extreme’s bold, angular architecture takes on a new expression through the contrast of mirror-polished steel and the warm, matte radiance of yellow gold adorning the dodecagonal bezel and pusher protectors. This play of light and texture accentuates the watch’s sculptural form, while the golden tones echo through the hands; hour markers and lapis lazuli dial itself.

Each dial is a natural work of art: its deep blue surface is scattered with shimmering pyrite inclusions, ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike. Completing the composition, the outer 1/100th of a second scale is rendered in blue, creating a seamless chromatic harmony across the dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

At the heart of the DEFY Extreme Lapis Lazuli beats the El Primero 9004 calibre, a remarkable evolution of ZENITH’s legendary high-frequency chronograph. It remains the only mechanical chronograph in regular production capable of measuring 1/100th of a second.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This technical achievement is made possible by two independent escapements: one beating at 5Hz (36,000 VpH) for timekeeping, and another at an astounding 50Hz (360,000 VpH) dedicated to the chronograph. The latter drives the central chronograph’s hand to perform a full rotation of the dial every second, enabling perfectly clear readings of elapsed times down to a hundredth of a second.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The openworked dial reveals the movement’s dynamic architecture, with the chronograph seconds counter at 6 o’clock, chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock, power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Through the sapphire case back, the view continues with the signature star-shaped oscillating weight in satin-brushed finish, a contemporary hallmark of ZENITH’s craftsmanship.

True to the versatile spirit of the DEFY Extreme, this special edition features an interchangeable strap system, operated effortlessly via push buttons on the back of the case.

ZENITH ELEVATES THE DEFY SKYLINE WITH A STRIKING ROSE GOLD TOURBILLON INSPIRED BY ITS HISTORIC MANUFACTURE

Le Locle, October 22, 2025 – Introduced in 2022, the ZENITH DEFY Skyline has rapidly established itself as one of the Manufacture’s contemporary icons. With its bold lines, integrated architecture, and distinctive technical edge, it has since been offered in numerous iterations exploring a wide spectrum of complications and materials.

Today, ZENITH elevates the DEFY Skyline to new heights of refinement: for the first time, the DEFY Skyline Tourbillon is crafted entirely in radiant rose gold. Its deep brick-red dial pays direct tribute to the historic ZENITH Manufacture in Le Locle, echoing the distinctive red-and-white brickwork and forging a tangible link between the brand’s heritage and its most cutting-edge creation.

The elevated essence of a contemporary classic

Launched as the modern heir to the original DEFY line of 1969, renowned for its boldness and resilience, the DEFY Skyline represents ZENITH’s vision of an urban timepiece that bridges heritage and innovation. Its angular geometry, strong silhouette and versatile design have made it a cornerstone of the Manufacture’s collections.

Now, with the tourbillon version, the DEFY Skyline appears in full rose gold, rediscovering its sharp facets through the warm glow of the precious metal. Alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces accentuate the 41mm case’s geometry, revealing a striking new perspective on its architectural design. As with previous DEFY Skyline Tourbillon editions, the dial is adorned with a mesmerizing pattern of engraved four-pointed stars that radiate outward from the tourbillon aperture at 6 o’clock.

For this rose gold interpretation, ZENITH introduces a deep brick-red dial, a chromatic nod to the Manufacture’s historic building in Le Locle, with its distinctive red-and-white brickwork. Rose-gold hands, enhanced with Super-LumiNova, ensure legibility while harmonizing with the case’s luxurious tones, while the oscillating weight also bears the warm glow of gold, further underscoring the watch’s refined character.

At the heart of the DEFY Skyline Tourbillon beats the El Primero 3630 automatic high-frequency calibre. Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, it delivers a 5Hz (36,000 VpH) frequency and a power reserve of 50 hours. The tourbillon carriage, weighing a mere 0.25 grams, epitomizes ZENITH’s mastery of miniaturization and precision.

The movement’s architecture echoes the starry geometry of the dial: the surfaces feature a contemporary 3D laser-engraved “côtes de Genève” motif radiating from the tourbillon in a sunray pattern, drawing the eye toward the beating heart of the watch. For the first time in the DEFY Skyline, the oscillating weight is also crafted in rose gold. Shaped as an openworked star, it allows for an unobstructed view of the calibre’s contemporary design.

This exclusive version is delivered on an integrated rose gold H-link bracelet, perfectly tapering from the case to the folding clasp, ensuring exceptional comfort. True to the DEFY Skyline spirit, versatility is key: the timepiece also comes with an additional brick-red rubber strap, perfectly matching the dial’s deep tone. Both can be exchanged effortlessly thanks to ZENITH’s intuitive quick-change system that requires no tools.
