With the Archao, the MeisterSinger collection welcomes yet another strikingly characterful addition in this anniversary year. The bold, appliquéd hour markers echo the divided single hand and already reveal its secret: throughout the day the Archao absorbs light, only to release it at night in a display of maximum luminosity.

The prominent hour markers and the distinctive, needle-shaped hand are crafted as white LumiBlocks, which store light like a battery during the day to unleash their enduring brightness after dark. The result is a picture-perfect timepiece, by day and by night.

Refined details shape the overall impression

Housed in its imposing 43-mm case, the Archao is always guaranteed to make a memorable impression. The large cylindrical case features an elegant matt black coating. The diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating makes this watch particularly hard-wearing and rugged.

The finely grained structure of the dark dials in black, red, or blue creates a stunning contrast to the bold graphic elements of the dial. The generously proportioned half-hour and quarter-hour markers are presented in crisp white, as are the numerals and hour indices, while the five-minute markings appear in light gray, intentionally fading into the background.

The completely redesigned single hand is conceived as a formally “divided” element: the triangular tip at the front continues down into the elongated overhang at the back, interrupted only at the center. Its distinctive width is hollowed out from within – a subtle, yet clear-cut detail that lends the Archao added depth and impressively enhances its presence in the dark.

Archao = primal

The name Archao is derived from the Greek archaios – which means “primal” or “original.” Those who think “originally” tend to focus their gaze on that which truly matters. Seen in this light, the Archao – perhaps even more so than other MeisterSinger models – has an even more powerful impact with its minimalist simplicity.

New highlights

The dials of the two Unomat editions have been designed in a matt, deep black look. A small but significant difference to the previous Unomat is that the 5-minute markers are in shades that match the dial. Clearly recognizable when viewed from a distance, yet sufficiently understated to create an even clearer, more robust appearance.

The double-digit hour numerals consist of three-dimensional, cast luminous elements that are applied to the dial and glow intensely at night because they are thicker and can also absorb and emit light from the sides. The needle-shaped hand, which is relatively broad for a MeisterSinger, and the hour markers are also highly luminous.

Dark matter

The case of both edition watches has been given a jet black carbon coating. The case back and middle section have been matt sandblasted, while the bezel is elegantly polished. The diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating makes this watch particularly hard-wearing and rugged.

In stark contrast to the case and the dial, the robust rubber straps are designed in arctic blue and orange, but in shades matching the hour numerals. Following the tradition of the Netherlands editions, the crown of the Unomat NL Edition is on the left-hand side.

The large Swiss Sellita SW400 automatic movement, which is specially modified for MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches, quietly ticks inside the Unomat.

It is enclosed by layers of soft iron. This elaborate design makes the movement impervious to the ubiquitous radiation from cell phones, electrical appliances, magnetic fasteners, and laboratory equipment.

This year, MeisterSinger is presenting a limited edition of 50 pieces in a bold orange hue. The striking needle-like hand has a luminous coating that glows in the dark, as do the numerals and appliquéd hour markers. The Unomat features an orange dial with white contrasting indices and double-digit numerals for the hours. The date is positioned at 6 o’clock and larger than usual for a MeisterSinger watch.

The date display is positioned unusually far to the outside of this movement and is therefore 30% larger than on an SW200 movement; its quick-set function makes it very easy to adjust.  The rotor provides the watch with a power reserve of 38 hours. A sleeve located in the case is supplemented by a soft iron dial. The elaborate design makes the movement impervious to the radiation that is ubiquitous in today’s world and contributes to the watch’s autonomy .

The art of enameling

With the Bell Hora Edition, MeisterSinger is again presenting a timepiece that features a delicate material, i.e., enamel.

The manufacturing of genuine enamel dials is an ancient science in itself. Since the Middle Ages, clock dials have been enameled using a sophisticated mixture of glass-forming silicates and oxides. Today, however, only very few people still understand this elaborate, highly complex process.

Like a hand-decorated or meticulously calibrated movement, an enamel dial is a sign of the human attention to detail that distinguishes the finished product from the bulk of industrially made watches.

It takes several days to finally complete the process, which means a great deal of work and almost as many rejects. Only a few of the painstakingly crafted dials are considered when finally assembling the watch.

MeisterSinger chiming module MSBell

The MS Bell automatic movement ticks inside the Bell Hora, which is fitted with the chiming module developed by MeisterSinger.

The MS Bell is based on the Swiss-made Sellita SW200 movement. Over a 60-minute period, it gathers the energy it requires to produce a precise, well-dosed strike against the sound fork located behind the dial.

The pusher above the crown makes sure the bell does not toll for the happy owner if not desired, as the chime can be switched off by simply pulling the pusher out. A black marking shows whether the watch is going to remain silent for the time being.

MeisterSinger watches show the time with just one single hand. The same is also true of the new model, the Perigraph “Mellow Yellow”. Although the watch is equipped with an additional hand, its only function is to display the date in the middle of the dial.

With its open date disk, the Perigraph has long since become a classic model in the MeisterSinger collection. The beautifully balanced date ring rotates freely around the center of the dial. A small arrow at 12 o’clock points to the current date, which advances one step each day at midnight. This analog representation of the date corresponds to the circular time display and provides just as much of an overview.

As a master of diversity, in this version the Perigraph appears in a bold mellow yellow. The steel-blue dial contrasts stunningly with the bold yellow hue, red accents complete the play of colors.

Its stainless steel case is 43 millimeters in diameter, water-resistant up to 5 bar, and the dial is covered by a domed sapphire glass. The Swiss automatic movement, with a rotor that supplies the watch with a 38-hour power reserve, can be viewed through the sixfold screwed glass exhibition back. The glass proudly reflects the uniqueness of this model since it states the number of pieces produced: one of 200 worldwide.
