A new special edition, limited to only 150 pieces, now complements the PIONEER collection of the watch manufacturer Hanhart from the Black Forest: the PIONEER Flieger One NightBlue.

The legendary 417, the first pilot chronograph of the German Armed Forces in the 1950s, serves as the historical model. The dark blue dial paired with a black PVD-coated case and distinctive cowhide strap with suede finish and red cross stitching on the lugs give the watch a unique design.

NIGHTBLUE DIAL

The basic design of the new PIONEER Flieger One NightBlue is based on the historic Flieger chronograph 417.

By reducing it to a three-hand watch, the unique charm of the 1950s is brought back to life in a modern way. In contrast to the series model of the PIONEER One, the limited edition watch does not have a date display. In addition, the historical logo is used on the clean dial.

CASE WITH BLACK PVD COATING

Matching the style of the watch, the stainless steel case was black PVD coated. The case back bears the respective limitation number XXX/150 and the historical “h”. The classic and for Hanhart typical fluted bezel with red marking is continuously rotatable in both directions.

The convex, internally anti-reflective sapphire crystal provides perfect protection against scratches, and with a water resistance of up to 10 bar / 10 ATM, the PIONEER Flieger One NightBlue is perfectly suited for everyday use.

Inside the watch works the reliable SW 200 automatic movement from the renowned Swiss manufacturer Sellita in the best Swiss-made quality. In addition to stop-seconds, it offers a power reserve of up to 38 hours.

UNIQUE CHARACTER

The PIONEER Flieger One NightBlue is comfortable to wear from day one on the strap made of ox leather in blue with a suede finish.

The color and the red cross stitching on the lugs give the watch a unique character. A black PVD-coated buckle ensures a good hold.

THE HISTORICAL LOGO

The curved, historic Hanhart logo was the first to be used for the wristwatches of the time, but also for stopwatches until the 1960s.

The 👿WAR in Ukraine 🇺🇦 is of great concern to all of us at Hanhart, and our thoughts are with the people who are exposed to unspeakable suffering due to the aggression of vladimir putin.

 In light of this severe situation, we want to show solidarity and contribute to humanitarian efforts to bring aid and support to Ukrainian refugees.

For this reason, we will auction the Hanhart 417 ES with serial number 1 from today on and donate the entire proceeds to Germany´s Relief Coaliton “Aktion Deutschland Hilft”. To encourage as many watch fans as possible, the auction will take place on eBay. We have set Friday, 4rd of March 2022 as starting point for the seven-day auction.

This is the first time in the history of Hanhart that the No. 1 of a serially produced watch is not being exhibited in our museum, but instead leaving the workshop in Gütenbach. With the 417 ES we have deliberately chosen our most popular model to raise as much money as possible with the auction. 

 The return of a legend

The reissue of our Hanhart 417 ES marks the return of a legend among wristwatches. More than 60 years ago, its historic model served as the first pilot’s chronograph for the German armed forces.

Today it combines the best design of the history with the most modern production techniques of our time. The result: a robust chronograph with an exciting history for everyday life and adventure.

THE LEGENDARY 417

Robustness, reliability and readability. Hanhart built the first pilot’s chronograph for the German armed forces based on these three criteria from the mid-1950s. The purpose of the 417 was uncompromising use on pilots’ wrists.

Hanhart supplied the German armed forces with the chronograph for almost ten years, until the brand concentrated on building hand stopwatches in 1963👇. The few remaining pieces of the original 417 have become some of the most sought-after vintage chronographs from Germany.

With the new Hanhart 417 ES we are celebrating the return of this legendary chronograph.

The 417 ES is a piece of living Hanhart tradition. Its fluted bezel rotates smoothly in both directions and its red position markings are reminiscent of the original from the 1950s.

The numbers and lettering of the dial in the characteristic bicompax layout as well as the symmetrical button arrangement were also taken from the historical model.

Like the historical model, the 417 ES has a hand-wound calibre. The radius of action of the historic 417 was severely limited outside the cockpit due to its small water resistance.

Therefore our new 417 ES can withstand the pressure of the depth up to 10 bar.

Behind the screwed stainless steel back of the 417 ES, the reliable hand-wound calibre SW 510 M works in best Swiss Made quality.

In addition to a stop-second function, it offers a power reserve of up to 58 hours when fully wound.

The deliberately simple screw-down case back is decorated with the historical Hanhart logo and the serial number engraved on the side.

A black calfskin wrist strap with a leather underlay makes it comfortable to wear from day one. For extra comfort on the skin, the black calfskin strap has Alcantara on the inside.

A pin-buckle with the historic Hanhart logo ensures a good grip. For further design options, we also offer straps in dark and light brown.

Contemporary size, maximum wearing comfort

Our goal was to design the 417 ES as slim as possible so that it is present on the wrist but not over-proportional. Despite the heavily domed sapphire crystal, the thickness of the case does not exceed 13.3 mm. Its crown shows our historical Hanhart Logo.

The PRIMUS Desert Pilot Dark combines Hanhart's 130-year tradition with modern elements: As unmistakable Hanhart trademarks, this chronograph features a red pusher and a fluted bezel with a red marking. The sand-colored dial is covered by a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside. The DLC-coated stainless steel case with a screw-down case back made of sapphire crystal provides a clear view of the movement and the skeletonized rotor and makes the precision of the timepiece literally visible.

The sporty look of the PRIMUS Desert Pilot Dark is completed by a robust textile strap with a practical ergonomic folding clasp made of DLC-coated stainless steel. The flexible lugs offer the highest wearing comfort for daily use, as they adapt perfectly to the wrist circumference. The dominant Arabic twelve and the skeletonized hands inspire with their clear design and excellent legibility.

The new PRIMUS Desert Pilot Dark is delivered together with the high-quality and reliable Vulkanus Hornet utility knife incl. belt pouch. The knife can be operated with one hand and is equally suitable for left- and right-handers. The 8 cm long blade made of D2 steel with a hardness of up to 61 HRC and the ceramic ball bearing guarantee durability and low maintenance, even under tough operating conditions. The fully dismountable knife was developed together with the knifemaker Harald Stahlegger, former president of the Austrian Knifemakers and in the scene better known as Aquarius.

Exactly 80 years ago, the historical model served as one of the first pilot's chronographs. Today, the PIO-NEER Mk II 80 Jahre Jubilaeum combines the unique features of the past with the green colors of the Black Forest. This special model is limited to 200 pieces!

The Hanhart PIONEER Mk II 80 Jahre Jubilaeum - made with attention to detail as a tribute to the historic Mk II with the famous "Calibre 41" movement from 1940.

In 1940 the production of the two-pusher model “Calibre 41” started. The large crown and the asymmetrical pusher distance were already then typical Hanhart characteris-tics and still are today. Other features were: black dial with luminous numbers, reces-sed seconds, and 30 minutes counter, luminous hands, nickel-plated movement with screw balance and Incabloc shock protection.

All Hanhart chronographs from the PIONEER collection have a stainless steel case back. Here, the historical pilot’s watches from the 1940s serve as a model. On this limited special edition, we used a sapphire glass case back for the first time on a PIONEER chronograph to provide a view of the decorated movement with Hanhart ro-tor. The reliable, robust and accurate ETA 7753 serves as the basis.

Behind the sapphire glass case back of the PIONEER Mk II 80 Jahre Jubilaeum, the reliable Calibre ETA 7753 works in best Swiss Made quality. In addition to the chro-nograph function, it offers a power reserve of up to 42 hours. The decorated move-ment has a pearl cut (special circular pattern) and blue colored screws.

80 years of history in a 40 mm case. The red pusher is made of robust HyCeram® and the pusher distance is asymmetrically arranged, like 80 years ago. To give the anniversary chronograph an unmistakable design, inspired by the Black Forest, green was chosen as the color of the dial and the case has a matt sandblasted finish.

The hands and numerals of the limited PIONEER Mk II 80 Jahre Jubilaeum are coated with Super-LumiNova® greenline C1. This ensures optimal readability at day and night time.
