For its participation in the 2024 edition of this beacon event,
ArtyA is showcasing two one-off creations inspired by two of its most sought-after timepieces of the moment.

A dial, adorned with the colors emblematic of the State of Qatar, elegantly enhances the manufacture movement from the Geneva-based Maison. The handcrafted leather strap completes the delicate, refined tone-on-tone color scheme.

The celebrated Purity manufacture movement

The two unique timepieces presented today in Doha feature the two latest high-complication movements manufactured by the Swiss watchmaker: the Tiny Purity Tourbillon movement designed for the 39 mm sapphire case; and the Curvy Purity Tourbillon movement designed for the tonneau-shaped sapphire case.

Both movements, born of the Purity collection, have come to symbolize ArtyA's mastery and savoir-faire in the realm of intricate watch movements.

The in-house caliber impresses with its performance, achieved through an oversized tourbillon – 18 mm in diameter and operating at 4Hz – driven by two parallel-mounted barrels. This considerable technical prowess, encapsulated in a mere 9 grams, ensures a power reserve of 72 hours. Beyond precision and reliability, the aesthetic appeal is equally compelling thanks to a fully skeletonized movement with the highest possible level of finishing, such as iron microblasting and hand-beveling.

Complementing these technical feats is a manufacture movement adorned with a watch face that is satin-finished and polished by hand. Chamfered and diamond-polished hour-markers enhance its legibility. The perfectly finished dial proudly displays the colors of Qatar, a welcoming land for ArtyA, as a tribute to the brand's friendly and fruitful collaboration with the emirate's retailer, Blue Salon. Already present alongside the renowned Mohammed Rasool Khoory & Sons in Abu Dhabi and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in Dubai, ArtyA now consolidates its prestigious presence in the Middle East with Blue Salon, based in Doha.

Sapphire mastery

These watch cases exhibit incredible scratch resistance due to the exceptional hardness of sapphire. Rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, sapphire is the third hardest mineral, surpassed only by diamond at a rating of 10 and moissanite at 9.5. This high level of hardness is why crafting a complete sapphire case to ArtyA's exacting standards is a time-consuming, intricate, and cost-intensive endeavor.

Hand-stitched artistry

 For the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2024, ArtyA called on the finest leatherworkers to work on two unique pieces, developed and produced exclusively for this special occasion. The guiding principle was to honor the host country in a modern and elegant manner. The result is an elegant and original strap in upcycled calfskin with a contemporary design and rich, deep colors, embodying a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.

The 'Purity' Tourbillon by ArtyA: a seamless blend of transparency and technology. It showcases an impressive tourbillon (at 18 mm in diameter, instantly recognizable as the movement’s signature) that is fully integrated as a distinctive design element. Equipped with two parallel-mounted barrels for powering the tourbillon beating at 4 Hz beating, the movement was, from its inception, conceived as a miniature exoskeletal sculpture.

Weighing a mere 9 grams, it pushes boundaries through the use of cutting-edge precision and design technologies, while remaining true to meticulous traditional finishing, such as cast-iron sandblasting and hand beveling. Indeed, the 'Purity Tourbillon' – nominated in the ‘Tourbillon’ category at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2021 soon after its release – now comes in an array of models: from the 45.5-mm transparent white version to the NanoSaphirTM variants, like the color-shifting 'Chameleon' (amber/green) and 'Bicolor' (yellow/purple).

Tiny Purity Tourbillon: the story continues to unfold

The 'Tiny Purity Tourbillon' watch, part and parcel of this already sought-after collection, encapsulates the brand’s expertise and savoir-faire in a new 39 mm case. In fact, the smaller size not only retains all of the larger model’s technical sophistication but also magnifies it, showcasing an impressive feat of engineering in a compact form –with an imposing 18 mm tourbillon lending it a distinct character.

To achieve this, the entire movement had to be reimagined, with a dial relocated to 3 o’clock above the two barrels providing a 72-hour power reserve. Compatible with ArtyA's extensive range of sapphire crystal and NanoSaphirTM cases, the Tiny Purity Tourbillon has succeeded in captivating numerous collectors of the Geneva-based brand.

This commercial success was further underscored by ArtyA's nomination at the GPHG 2023 in the 'Men’s Complication' category for the 'Tiny Purity Tourbillon Chameleon' whose NanoSaphirTM case switches from amber to green, depending on the ambient light. To those already acquainted with Yvan Arpa’s pioneering craftsmanship, it will not come as a surprise to discover the amount of reflection and inventiveness that has gone into creating the ArtyA Purity Tourbillon. This new addition to the ArtyA’s Complication Collection features a fully 18k gold case with the exclusive Double Barrel Manufacture Flying Tourbillon movement.

For the development of these magnificent mechanisms, Franck Orny and his team joined Yvan Arpa and his team in a constructive complementarity of skills, a sharing of values and a beautiful creative vibratory dynamic.

As an expression of ArtyA’s horological grammar, the Purity Tourbillon displays a technical inventiveness that combines a maverick style with visual clarity. A beautifully balanced architectural ensemble, the manually wound caliber features an over-sized flying tourbillon with a diameter of 17 mm which is at least 50% larger than most existing tourbillons.

Since the ArtyA Purity tourbillon beats at a rate of 4HZ, extraordinary accuracy and greater stability are achieved through a much higher frequency than many other high-end Swiss tourbillons (usually 2 or 3HZ).

Equipped with a power-reserve of 70 hours, the two barrels connected in parallel, fuel the movement that operates the central hour and minute functions while the indication of the seconds is elegantly displayed on the flying tourbillon that rotates 360 degrees in 60 seconds.

Mounting the barrels in parallel reduces the thickness of the spring for more stable torque. But also improves the delta of the barrel spring curve, with an ideal ratio between power reserve, performance and regularity.

ArtyA has chosen to manufacture this timepiece with a free-sprung balance with variable inertia:

This type of balance wheel represents the ultimate in innovation. It guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shocks and during movement assembly or disassembly, hence better chronometric results over time.

Each part of the movement is delicately beveled and polished by hand for an extreme skeletonizing.

The skeletonized bridges were subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimize their resistance capacities.
