SIMON BRETTE – Chronometre Artisans “Aurora Waves” Dial Steel Edition

SIMON BRETTEChronomètre Artisans “Aurora Waves” Dial Steel Edition 2025

Introduction of this new edition

Chronomètre Artisans Stainless Steel:
A Multifaceted Timepiece, Shaped by Light

With its new edition of the Chronomètre Artisans, unveiled on Friday, December 19, 2025, Simon Brette introduces a series of aesthetic and technical evolutions that bring together technological innovation and artisanal savoir-faire. An ALD coating shimmering from green to purple, the hand-engraved “Aurora Waves” dial and integrated photoluminescence define a timepiece of multiple expressions, evolving with the subtle variations of light.

For this edition, stainless steel asserts itself as the structural material of the case, hands and bridges, enhanced by highly precise finishing work and animated by an intense interplay of iridescent colours.

ALD Coating: Iridescence at the Heart of the Edition

At the core of the Chronomètre Artisans Stainless Steel edition, an advanced ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) coating reinterprets the white gold dial as well as several key components—including gold chatons, the minute track and the seconds hand in stainless steel—through the use of interference colours.

From deep green to intense violet, the iridescence created by the ALD coating establishes a dialogue between light and material, revealing an ever-evolving spectrum of nuances and reflections. Depending on the viewing angle, surfaces subtly shift from one hue to another, producing a dynamic chromatic shimmer that naturally complements the silvery tone of the steel.

The white gold wheels, visible at the heart of the movement, extend this tonal harmony with understated elegance.

The “Aurora Waves” Dial: Light Playing Across the Material

Entirely decorated by hand by the artist Yasmina Anti, the dial known as “Aurora Waves” forms the expressive soul of this edition. Sculpted through thousands of concave engraving gestures, it unfolds in successive waves, both fluid and vibrant.

Thanks to the ALD coating applied to the white gold surface, the dial reveals an evolving and luminous chromatic range, from green to violet, modulated by the depth of the recesses and the reliefs. Each change in light emphasizes the three-dimensional structure of the decoration, highlighting the mastery of the artisanal gesture.

Through this interplay of colour, light and volume, the dial continuously shifts in perspective—at once shimmering, dynamic and captivating.

Photoluminescent Display: Measuring Time in Boreal Light

To complete the technical and aesthetic developments of this edition, the Chronomètre Artisans Stainless Steel offers enhanced nighttime legibility through a photoluminescent display.

Super-LumiNova (phosphorescent pigments) has been applied to the hour markers, while HyCeram—a ceramic infused with phosphorescent pigments, violet by day and green by night—has been integrated into the hands and the brand’s signature “butterfly” key, shaped like a dovetail.

In low-light environments, the watch is enveloped in a neon-green photoluminescent glow, reinforcing the boreal dimension of the dial. In darkness, this chiaroscuro reveals a new reading of the timepiece and its components.

The Stainless Steel Bracelet: A Complete Project in Its Own Right

Designed to complete this edition, an entirely new Stainless Steel bracelet, conceived by the brand, accompanies the Chronomètre Artisans Stainless Steel.

A true horological project in its own right, it required more than 2.5 years of research and innovation to meet Simon Brette’s aesthetic, ergonomic and mechanical standards.

Like the Chronomètre Artisans itself, every stage of the design, manufacturing and finishing of the bracelet’s 446 components has been carried out with extreme care, in keeping with the highest standards of quality and savoir-faire in haute horlogerie.

Designed without compromise, down to the finest details—such as the 146 concave, polished-head screws—it achieves a level of mechanical sophistication marked by both finesse and complexity. For this reason, the bracelet will be unveiled separately at Watches & Wonders 2026.

Chronomètre Artisans: An Ode to Exceptional Craftsmanship

Across all its editions, the Chronomètre Artisans remains an ode to exceptional craftsmanship. Its distinctive design combines elegance and audacity, blending contemporary lines with horological heritage. Its original movement reveals complex mechanisms and numerous technical achievements, while high-level decorations and finishes pay tribute to the handcrafted gesture.

About Simon Brette: A Destiny of Independence

Simon Brette’s sense of entrepreneurship and independence runs in the family. As far back as he can remember, Simon’s parents and his siblings led their lives in pursuit of their convictions and passions rather than comfort and stability, often taking the riskier and less traveled road rather than enjoying the comforts of a more monotonous life.
Born and raised in Auvergne, a historical mountainous region in central France, Simon’s father was a carpenter who hand-crafted unique pieces to his own designs. From watching the pleasure and pride his father took in his work, as well as the challenges he faced as an independent craftsman, little did Simon realize at the time that it would become one of his greatest sources of inspiration.
After completing his studies to become an engineer in 2011, Simon joined renowned watchmaker Jean-François Mojon’s movement conception and development company Chronode, where he spent years as a technical constructor working on some of the most ground-breaking calibres in contemporary watchmaking.
Simon later went on to join the avant-garde watch brand MCT as a project manager responsible for bringing the brand’s unprecedented time display concepts to reality. Finally, Simon joined MB&F as Development Project Manager, where he was responsible for the management and implementation of movement concepts from R&D to production.
After the birth of his daughter in June 2021, Simon decided to embark on a new chapter in his career, where his convictions about artisanship and human values in watchmaking could be expressed in a collaborative horological project.
Chronomètre Artisans Souscription Edition bares the project's first fruit.
