With this limited edition watch series, Cuervo y Sobrinos takes us back to 1957, a time when Cuba hosted the action-packed Cuban Grand Prix.

Limited to 162 pieces, the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Gran Premio de Cuba “1957” chronograph takes inspiration from the historical race, but crafted with modern day specifications.

The inaugural Cuban Grand Prix, the Gran Premio de Cuba was held in 1957. In this race, the famous Argentinean driver Juan Manuel Fangio secured victory in his Maserati 300S.

The following year, on the eve of the race, antigovernmental revolutionaries kidnapped Fangio, however, the race still went ahead and Stirling Moss was victorious in his Ferrari 335S.

Unfortunately, the 1959 race was cancelled due to political instability, however, it returned for one last time in 1960, when the British driver, Stirling Moss, was once again, triumphant, albeit this time in a Maserati Tipo 61.

Cuervo y Sobrinos honours the Gran Premio de Cuba with a new, limited-edition chronograph bearing the name and date of the legendary race first edition.

The vibrant red dial evokes motor racing spirit. The cream hours and minute hands are leaf-shaped, luminescent and plump, while their colour bestows the dial with a bygone charm.

The central chronograph seconds hand and counter hands are baton shaped. Two chronograph registers, 30 minutes and 12-hours, once again encompass cream hues, while a small seconds display, positioned at 9 o’clock, is presented in a vivid shade of red.

The bold, cream Arabic numerals offer better clarity. The hour markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, enhancing readability in dim light.

The red tones of the central dial area are framed with a cream circlet that serves as a telemeter scale. Beyond the telemeter scale is a black ring, hugging the interior of the case which plays host to a tachymeter. This feature allows the wearer to determine the speed of a vehicle over a known distance.

The Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Gran Premio de Cuba has a 42mm stainless steel case. The dial sits beneath a double curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

Two piston-style chronograph pushers are positioned on the right flank of the case and the lugs are ergonomically-shaped, optimising wearer comfort.

The watch is supplied on a black ‘racing style’ matte leather strap. It features numerous perforations, a detail inspired by the racing gloves of yesteryear. Red stitching and an open-worked CyS-branded clasp are two additional refinements.

The case back is adorned with a Gran Premio 1957 de Cuba insignia and the model is limited to just 162 pieces. This latter number was inspired by the 162 mile race distance of the Gran Premio 1957 de Cuba.

At the heart of the Historiador Gran Premio de Cuba “1957” sits an automatic Swiss movement, the CyS 8099 calibre. Based on the Valjoux 7753, the movement features an engraved oscillating weight and has a power-reserve of 48 hours.

Upon its release in 2013, the Jazzmaster Face 2 Face has been considered a pioneer of the new watchmaking ground for Hamilton: the concept of a double-sided dial, essentially giving two distinct personalities to the single horological creation. Establishing itself as a combination of avant-garde and classic aesthetics, the collection welcomes the Jazzmaster Face 2 Face III, the third edition limited to 999 pieces.

Equipped with a round rotating 44mm case, the inventive Jazzmaster Face 2 Face III boasts two dials – one a time-telling face comprising chronograph functions, the other featuring measurement scales and an exhibition movement. Built within a multi-layered architecture, the main watch’s dial has a complexity matching its inner mechanics.

While the time is displayed on the outer ring, the three chronograph counters keep track of elapsed hours, minutes and seconds. These overlapping sub-dials are placed on the top of the exposed date wheel, forming a three-dimensional structure. Reinforcing the concept of duality, the anthracite dial elements are complemented by blue accents of the hour counter and passing through seconds hand.

OMEGA’s latest Speedmaster is fine-tuned for precision thanks to the Spirate™ System, which includes a revolutionary new pat - ent-pending spiral that allows for ultra-fine rate adjustments.

Thanks to this one-ofa-kind mechanism, it is now possible for OMEGA to achieve certified precision of only 0/+2 seconds a day.

To meet these narrow targets, OMEGA had to quite literally reinvent the wheel: drawing on both the technical resources of the Swatch Group and the precision, stability and reliabity of OMEGA’s chronometrically superior in-house movements.

The innovative solution was a totally new Si14 balance spring, which allows the watchmaker to act on the stiffness of the hairspring’s attachment point through an eccentric adjustment mechanism located on the balance bridge.

Circling the dial is the distinctive racing style minute-track and a black ceramic bezel ring with the famous tachymeter scale in new yellow “grand feu” enamel.

This bold yellow shade, featured on the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15’000 GAUSS of 2013, is also used on the gradient chronograph hand and striped small seconds hand at 9 o’clock.

The watch’s 60 minute/12 hour recorder, directly opposite at 3 o’clock, also serves as a second time zone. The honeycomb pattern of the dial references a concept timepiece on display at OMEGA Museum which survived extreme magnetic fields of 160,000 GAUSS.

Providing the power is OMEGA’s stateof-the-art Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920, a perfect amalgamation of the many milestones on the road to Spirate™ and certified at the industry’s highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
