DC7 Blue Hawk
The sublima3on of paradox
David Candaux unveils a singular creation that awakens the senses and challenges the codes of fine watchmaking. More than just a visual pleasure, the DC7 Blue Hawk captivates, intrigues and fascinates. Sculpted in light, conceived in tension, the piece is the result of deeply considered choices by the watchmaker-designer.
Its sharp profile and subtly layered dial, playing with shadows and refined lines, are inspired by the blue hawk, a symbol of breathtaking speed, extreme precision, piercing vision and the perfect fusion of power and lightness. Housing the in-house H70 calibre with its 30° inclined flying tourbillon, this rare timepiece, limited to just eight pieces, embodies the obsessive pursuit of balance and the poetic paradox that define David Candaux’s approach.
The expression of a free watchmaker
Breaking away from convention, David Candaux gives full rein to his watchmaking vision with the DC7 Blue Hawk. He pushes his art to its peak with a six-layer dial of exceptional complexity, where depth and perspective echo the soft, organic curves of the case, reminiscent of a naturally shaped river stone. Far from the dictates of perfect centering, the DC7 Blue Hawk explores masterful asymmetry: the hour and minute display is off-centered, a nod to Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and the quest for balance between dynamic tension and visual harmony.

It is the paradox of a grand complication distilled to its essence; a statement of watchmaking humility: no superfluous functions, just the purest expression of time. Its highlight, the 30° inclined flying tourbillon at 12 o’clock, irresistibly draws the eye. It introduces a new balance wheel to the David Candaux collection and embodies the master watchmaker’s relentless pursuit of ever-greater precision. Opposite it, the “magic crown” - seamlessly integrated into the bezel - creates a counterpoint that is as bold as it is harmonious.
As with all timepieces in the David Candaux collection, the DC7 Blue Hawk is constructed around the "magic crown", a patented retractable innovation located at 6 o’clock. Composed of 31 components, it is a complication in itself and gives the watch a fluid and cohesive silhouette. Every curve and angle follows the natural shape of the wrist, ensuring exceptional comfort, enhanced by curved lugs.
The 44mm case, crafted in Grade 5 titanium and fully handpolished - a first in the David Candaux collection - subtly catches the light and echoes the deep reflections of the anodized blue titanium dial, whose intense hue lends the watch its unique character.
An in-depth pursuit
The disruptive composition of this new opus draws intrigue through design aimed at intuitive appeal. The dial is harmoniously structured around the 30° inclined flying tourbillon at 12 o’clock, its anodized blue titanium cage amplifying the depth effect in resonance with the pearled baseplate of the visible movement. The small seconds, crafted in white lacquered titanium, is directly integrated into the tourbillon and highlighted by a graduated blue ring indicating the seconds.
Inspired by the architecture of CERN’s ATLAS hadron collider, David Candaux designed baton indexes subtly embedded on a lower plane, creating an interplay of light and shadow enhanced by Super-LumiNova contours that emphasize the dial’s visual depth. The minute track along the inner periphery is precisely integrated into the whole, optimizing legibility without compromising aesthetic balance. The hour and minute hands, crafted with precision, boast a contemporary design combining clarity, elegance and technical refinement.
Their openwork centers lighten the structure, while the blue Super-LumiNova triangles at their tips echo the dial’s vibrant tone. The ensemble is topped by a domed sapphire crystal, amplifying the dial’s sculptural volumes and giving the watch striking presence.
Subtlety as strength
Beneath its apparent simplicity, the DC7 Blue Hawk hides a calibre of fascinating complexity. Conceived and developed by David Candaux, the H70 calibre, inclined at a subtle 3° and crafted entirely from titanium, reflects his technical mastery and deep understanding of this exacting material. This choice ensures exceptional reliability for the eight pieces in this limited series, each backed by a 10-year guarantee, a rare promise of longevity in contemporary watchmaking. The 30° inclined flying tourbillon, composed of just 29 components, creates a striking three-dimensional effect while delivering outstanding chronometric performance.
The calibre’s architecture reflects the visual harmony so dear to David Candaux, where symmetry and asymmetry coexist naturally. Grained bridges reveal the movement’s gears and showcase remarkable hand-finishing: polished bevels, inward beveled angles, each detail is crafted entirely by hand. The motto “Heart and Mind”, inscribed within this balanced composition, encapsulates both the soul of the timepiece and the singular vision of its creator.
A timepiece that touches all the senses
To the eye, it intrigues. To the touch, it enchants. Its flowing lines and organic hues, inspired by the iridescent and silky plumage of the blue hawk, bring an unexpected softness to the wrist. A visual caress and tactile emotion, the DC7 Blue Hawk invites a sensory journey through shifting reflection, revealing the subtlety of a rare creation, confidential and intensely personal.
A departure from convention, it is a design conceived to endure, to surprise, and to stir the soul, an embodiment of David Candaux’s singular genius. Offered on a hand-stitched rubber strap, with a choice of Velcro, folding, or pin buckle, it blends comfort with character, appealing to the most discerning connoisseurs of exceptional watchmaking.
