A military-inspired watch usually tells a story, that of the men who depend on it on their missions. Bell & Ross has, over time, become a reference in the instrument watch field. Since its inception, the brand has produced exceptional models in its dedicated pursuit of superior performance.

The Phantom concept, released in 2007, and the Commando collection of 2009, fit perfectly into the professional military landscape. The launch of these watches, which are inspired by aeronautical instrumentation, heralded a foray into new territory. These avant-garde timepieces were among the first to use a camouflage coating in a horological setting. Nearly 10 years later- in 2017 - the BR 03-92 BLACK CAMO was successfully added to the series of Bell & Ross camouflage watches.

For Bell & Ross, it comes natural to draw its inspiration from military codes, and then give them a chic and contemporary interpretation. It only took one small step to transform military camouflage into a refined pattern of the highest elegance.

The new BR 03-92 WHITE CAMO (short for camouflage) completes the Bell & Ross camouflage family.

WINTERY TRICOLOR CAMOUFLAGE

Camouflage was first used by the army during First World War. Its purpose was to hide or disguise men or objects. Green, khaki, brown, black and grey are the most used colors. The matte treatment of these colors is a mandatory condition imposed by the military. The new BR 03-92 WHITE CAMO showcases an original military-type tricolor coating and introduces a pure color scheme.

In this new construction, the CAMO pattern dial is adorned with a patchwork of white, dark gray and light gray and finds its inspiration in the world of alpine soldiers’ units. Its case and strap are dressed in matte black. This high-tech timepiece is practically undetectable, especially at night. Its matte-treated colors also avoid the risk of undesirable reflections. This means it can be worn during tailing missions or operations in hostile territory with no risk of detection.

The upper plate was screen-printed and cut to reveal the lower plate covered with black Super-Luminova® and emitting the color green in the dark. Bell & Ross borrows the technique of serigraphy to design the dial and adapts it to the bracelet. Thus, three serigraphy masks were created - a dark gray - a light gray - and a white one in order to affix it to the calfskin strap.

With the military prints as the starting point, the camouflage of the dial reflects the alpine military uniform. This collection is aimed at the elite units who operate covertly in the highlands, the rocky slopes and the snow-capped summits overlooking the French Alps. Their equipment must be as efficient as undetectable.

Elite units must be able to read the time easily and accurately during missions. Thus, the BR 03-92 WHITE CAMO retains a perfectly legible display both day and night thanks to the photo luminescent coating on its hands, indices and numerals.
The so-called “CAMO” camouflage has been a classic for many years, giving a chic and vivid effect while preserving its strength. Its colorimetric adaptations are also very appealing and will adapt accordingly to the contemporary street style. 

A HIGH-TECH TIMEPIECE

Driven by a highly accurate Swiss self-winding mechanical movement, the BR 03-92 WHITE CAMO features a date function in a small window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The clean display is based on the brand’s visual signature: large numerals along with baton indices for perfect legibility. The design of the hands is also very distinctive: slender for the minutes and broader for the hours, to avoid any risk of confusion. The four large numerals (3, 6, 9, 12), impressive in both design and size, are also a Bell & Ross classic.

The case of the BR 03-92 WHITE CAMO uses mass-colored ceramic. Wear-resistant and unalterable, this material is second to diamond in terms of hardness. Almost scratch-resistant, ceramic is tougher and lighter than steel. It guarantees remarkable durability, which is indispensable in an instrument used in dangerous military operations. And finally, it is hypoallergenic and heats only slightly, making it very comfortable to wear even in hot weather

The sandwich type dial is made up of two superposed inserts. The lower one has a black Super-Luminova® coating bearing the numerals and indices. The upper one carries the camouflage pattern. The die cutting for the numerals and indices reveals the black Super-Luminova®. This system guarantees impeccable legibility, both day and night and accentuates the Military style of the watch.

Two standard straps equip this watch. A leather strap that continues the camo colors of the dial, and a black rubber strap.
