OMEGA saluts its space legacy with the
Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon

OMEGA is proud to unveil the Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon, a stunning new solid ceramic timepiece that was created using a particularly innovative process. While this new grey timepiece boasts a look similar to its alluring counterpart, the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, it features several design elements that distinguish it from any other model the brand has ever introduced.

The case, caseback, bezel, crown, pushers and buckle of this 44.25 mm timepiece are crafted from the same ceramic material. Engraved on the caseback is the name of the watch: “GREY SIDE OF THE MOON”.

Distinguishing the Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon” is the Super-LumiNova tachymetric scale on the brushed ceramic bezel – another first from OMEGA. The numbers and marks on the bezel have been engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova making it possible for the wearer to read the tachymeter scale in a variety of lighting conditions. The symbol on the crown is also filled with Super-LumiNova.

The sand-blasted 950 platinum dial gives the Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon” a more elegant and classic look while underscoring the craftsmanship that went into creating the watch.
Two integrated platinum sub-dials distinguish the timepiece from its legendary predecessor, OMEGA’s “Moonwatch”.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                   BIG FOTO

These two sub-dials are made possible by the innovative placement of the 12-hour and 60-minute counters on the same sub-dial at the 3 o’clock position, allowing a comfortable and intuitive chronograph reading. The black plated central chronograph seconds hand has a red tip and is coated with white Super-LumiNova, as are the central hour and minute hands, indexes and two dots at 12 o’clock. The impressive dial is protected by a box-form scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

The Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon” is presented on a grey leather strap and has a rubber insert with holes on the area where the buckle is fastened. On the underside of the strap there is red stitching that complements the red accents on the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300 visible through the bevelled sapphire crystal caseback.

The incredibly advanced Co-Axial chronograph movement is equipped with an Si14 silicon balance spring. The Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon” is offered with a full four-year warranty and is delivered in a special presentation box.

A. Lange & Söhne – RICHARD LANGE - Perpetual Calendar “Terraluna”

A. Lange & SöhneRICHARD LANGE - Perpetual Calendar Terraluna

The RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR
 Terraluna” and its mystical precursor

Some 3600 years separate the Nebra Sky Disc and the RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR Terraluna”. But the oldest realistic rendition of the nocturnal sky and the current depiction of the constellation showing the earth, the moon and the sun share a common and perpetual objective: to illustrate the progression of celestial bodies as accurately as possible.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                   BIG FOTO

The RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDARTerraluna ranks among the most appealing debuts of the horological year 2014. The extraordinary timepiece is equally seductive on both sides: the historically significant regulator dial with the perpetual calendar and the characteristic outsize date on the front, the wrist-format planetarium with an orbital moonphase display on the back. The miniaturised astronomical ballet not only shows the waxing and waning moon, but also – with three rotating discs – the constellation formed by the earth, moon and sun. The mechanism is designed with such remarkable precision that 1058 years can elapse before a one-day correction is needed.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                   BIG FOTO

Its eye-catching feature is the deep-blue celestial disc in solid gold with precisely 2116 twinkling stars. Many more, in fact, than the famous Nebra Sky Disc, which a few years ago was found just under 200 kilometres from Glashütte. Its discovery was a sensation.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...       BIG FOTO

Created about 3600 years ago in central Europe, the disc is by far the oldest realistic representation of the universe. With its enigmatic motifs, it points to the roots of timekeeping and its origins in the terrestrial, lunar and celestial cycles.

The unknown creators of the disc needed only a few appliques in gold to bundle the astronomical insights of their era – with unexpected precision – on a bronze plate with a diameter of 32 centimetres. The focus is on a full moon and a crescent moon embedded in 32 stars. A cluster of seven stars between the two moons symbolises the Pleiades. Their disappearance in the evening sky in March and their emergence in the morning sky in October marked the times for spring planting and autumn harvesting, the most important junctures in the agricultural calendar. The horizon arcs at the periphery also have a calendar function. When the disc was properly aligned at the location where it was found, on the Mittelberg near Nebra, and pointed at the sunset over the Brocken mountain, the highest peak of the Harz massif about 85 kilometres away, it allowed the dates of the summer and winter solstices to be determined.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                   BIG FOTO

The knowledge it preserves makes the Nebra Sky Disc a milestone in the history of mankind. It is an impressive witness of the first attempts to understand and record the progression of the heavenly bodies. The RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Terraluna fuses contemporary astronomical insight and artisanal artistry into a horological masterpiece that correctly reproduces the constellation of the moon for the next one thousand years and features a calendar, which is accurately programmed until the year 2100. It reflects the resolve to get an understanding of the situation and leverage the insights of research to create innovation. In this respect, A. Lange & Söhne’s watchmakers are as enterprising as the world’s first astronomers.

The C70 3527 GT CHRONOMETER LIMITED EDITION – A PIECE OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY

In partnership with TMB Artmetal we are proud to offer you the chance of owning a small piece of one of the world's most iconic, and not to say valuable, cars - the Ferrari 250 GTO.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

Embedded behind museum-grade sapphire crystal in the back-plate of this stunning chronometer is an original piece of exterior panelling from the seventh GTO (only 39 were ever built), which left the Ferrari factory on 22nd May, 1962. The date is actually featured in the watch's tachymeter.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

To understand the GTO's importance in the annals of automotive history, one needs only to recall the world record $52 million spent by an unnamed buyer in October 2013 to secure chassis number 5111 GT from Connecticut-based collector Paul Pappalardo
The chassis number of the C70's car, 3527 GT, gives this strictly limited watch its nomenclature, and this is indicated on the side of the case.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

The traditional Ferrari colouring of the beautifully executed dial serves as an impressive overture for the back-plate of the watch. The piece of original metal has been skillfully cut by experts in Switzerland to allow the number 6 from the car's number-plate to be shown in glorious Rosso Corsa livery.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

To own a Ferrari 250 GTO is an impossible dream for all but a handful of billionaire collectors and ageing rock stars (Nick Mason of Pink Floyd owns one); but for a fortunate few, the dream can be at least partially realised by owning the C70 3527 GT.

NB For the sake of fairness, we are only releasing one of the 100 piece limited series per individual order.

ARNOLD & SON Royal Collection HM Pandas Limited Edition NEW

A stunning addition to the Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art range: HM Pandas unites two exquisite forms of craftsmanship

The panda holds revered status in Chinese cultural history. It has served as a symbol of goodwill and helped cement relationships with other countries. When China entrusts pandas to international zoos, it does so as an expression of trust and confidence. With this meticulously finished special edition, Arnold & Son pays tribute to a very special bear.

The highlight of the HM Pandas edition is a sumptuous, 22-carat solid white gold hand-engraved appliqué of two pandas, which has been duplicated for the series. Created by a craftsman selected for his skill in the traditional art of hand engraving, it features two perfectly sculpted figures with a breathtaking richness of detail and an illusion of depth that contrasts starkly with the ultra-slim case. The case is available both in 18-carat rose gold or 18-carat white gold and with a diamond-set bezel.

As Philippe Boven of Arnold & Son explains: “The panda is a popular symbol of hope and solidarity, and we hope this special edition will touch and inspire connoisseurs of fine watchmaking combined with the decorative arts. We are particularly proud of the execution, which seamlessly combines two highly skilled crafts: those of the engraver and of the miniaturist.” The detail on the dial is completed with a miniature hand painting of bamboo leaves and grass which likewise calls for infinite patience and consummate skill.

Ulysse Nardin – Imperial Blue

Ulysse NardinImperial Blue Flying Tourbillon Limited Edition NEW
Radiating light, as if suspended in time by a flying tourbillon, this Grande Sonnerie Westminster Carillon bears witness to the ultimate mastery of the watchmaker’s art.
The world of fine watchmaking is like a complex maze full of centers of ingenuity, traditional workshops and daring laboratories, interconnected by the long corridors of history. A world populated by passionate, groundbreaking and erudite individuals, both traditional craftspeople and guardians of the vitality of this ancestral art. Within this world, there lies a unique place, the heart of horological excellence, known only by the chosen few. This place is so enchanting that it seems as if natural laws have been suspended, know-how has made way for learning, and apprenticeship has become the handing-down of secrets. Here, in this annex to eternity, the Imperial Blue was born. Showcasing a transparent mainplate on which floats a flying tourbillon, adorned with a blue-tinged sapphire bridge that leaves no room for doubt as to its noble origins, this luminous yet mysterious watch holds within it a Sonnerie Westminster Carillon. The quintessential watch complication, it rings out on four notes for every passing hour and also sounds the hours, quarter hours and minutes on demand. It is an object of immense rarity.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

While Grande Sonnerie wristwatches today are the exclusive domain of some half-dozen prestigious manufactures, the invention of this function dates back, paradoxically, to the origins of watchmaking. In around 1300, a century before most dials and hands made their appearance, the first monumental clocks were designed to "sound" the time, so they could be heard from a distance or at night. Over time, the bells on these mechanisms were made increasingly smaller, until they fitted into table-top clocks, then pocket watches.

Ulysse Nardin occupies an illustrious place in the history of Sonnerie watches. In 1893, at the Chicago World’s Fair, it was the only watchmaker to win a gold medal for its minute-repeater chronograph. A century later, Ulysse Nardin was also one of the first to revive the tradition of Jaquemart watches, with the San Marco in 1989, followed by the Genghis Khan. Now, once again, the watchmaker has retained its place in the pantheon of fine watchmaking with its Imperial Blue. Not content with the huge number of technical challenges overcome by the miniaturization of this Sonnerie mechanism, which combines a minute-repeater with the sounding of the passing hours, the Ulysse Nardin Manufacture has added a date indicator at 12 o’clock, which can be quickly adjusted using a pusher at 2 o’clock .

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Energy management was undoubtedly the most difficult aspect of crafting this masterpiece. The sounding of the passing hours, as well as the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on demand, is powered by the same barrel. This barrel is wound either partially by activating the repeater slide on the case middle at 9 o’clock or fully by rotating the crown counterclockwise. When rotated clockwise, the crown winds a second barrel that is dedicated to the movement, with a 50-hour power reserve. Furthermore, an ingenious system controls the level of energy available, thereby always guaranteeing a fully operating Sonnerie.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Thus, every hour, a delightful sparkling melody “Sol” rises from the watch case. However, if desired, an on-off pusher at 11 o’clock on the back of the case ensures that the mechanical masterpiece stays silent. Perhaps this allows more attention to be paid to the minute-repeater, which on the Imperial Blue features a captivating Westminster chime played on four notes. Once activated and released, the repeater slide instantly sets the hammers dancing and the gongs singing.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

It is an enchanting symphony, punctuated by the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, as if suspended in time, levitating on its sapphire plate. The delicate openwork hour and minute hands are adjusted using the crown, which also features a safety system that stops the sounding of the passing hours while the time is being corrected.

In the colors of white-gold and blue-tinged sapphire, bathed in light, the Imperial Blue is a watch for the connoisseur. Just 20 numbered pieces will be produced, each bearing witness to the ultimate mastery of the watchmaker’s art.

DeWitt – ACADEMIA Chronograph Unique Piece

DeWittACADEMIA Chronograph Unique Piece - Robb Report 2014

DeWitt is unveiling an extraordinary technical innovation, the Academia watch, a unique piece.

It was designed by Count Jérôme de Witt and his teams, at the request of Robb Report, for an impassioned watch collector for whom it will be made exclusively.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Based on a vintage drawing from the personal collection of Jérôme de Witt, the calibre of the watch is unique, as is every component part.

The elements of the movement have been redesigned, rebuilt and decorated by hand according to the traditional expertise and the very high level of finishing of the DeWitt manufacture.
This amazing watchmaking creation includes ten functions in a single watch: an unparalleled technical feat.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

-  Minute repeater
-  Chronograph
-  Reverse split-second flyback
-  Moon phase
-  Day/night indicator
-  Dual time-zone display
-  Automaton for chiming
-  Hours
-  Minutes
-  Central second

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Ten functions!
Including some that have been invented and added to the basic mechanica movement by DeWitt master watchmakers:
  • - moon phase
  • - dual time-zone display
  • - day/night indicator
To perfect one of the purest and most complex complications, the chronograph and fly-back are activated by a single central push-piece.
The exceptional fly-back function is rare in watchmaking design, with the wheel of the fly-back located in the centre, turning around the chronograph wheel.
The second time zone function is regulated using a direct drive corrector that allows for optimal comfort and faster winding.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

In total, between 500 and 600 watch parts make up this remarkable calibre.
The Academia case is decorated with the famous DeWitt imperial column motif. With a diameter of 46 mm, and water resistance to 30 metres, it will be available in 18-carat rose gold or platinum, according to the buyer's preference.

On the left side of the case is the repeater slide to activate the striking mechanism, which is set off at certain times through an ingenious and poetic automaton system.
On the upper part of the guilloché dial of the watch, at 12 o'clock, an entirely hand made mechanism opens a window when the minute repeater is engaged.
The doors disappear and reveal, around the decorative music note, an animated motif that symbolically illustrates the propagation of sound.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

The doors close once more as soon as the chime stops.
The buyer of this exceptional piece will also be given the opportunity to adapt the colours and finishes of the dial of the piece, in concert with DeWitt's dial specialists, who will hand craft the piece in the manufacture.
The particularly refined finishes of the Academia Unique Piece watch, which can be seen through the sapphire case back, testify to the expertise of the artisan craftsmanship.

DeWitt is pleased and proud to have designed this exceptional watchmaking feat that awaits its owner, for 1’695’000 dollars for the platinum version and 1’650’000 dollars for the rose gold version.
