The Big Bang UNICO Usain Bolt comes in two limited editions. In a 45mm Big Bang case, the second hands of its flyback chronograph movement measure time with a hand shaped like a lightning bolt. Its design tinged with green and gold, and its strap marked with the silhouette of the Jamaican flag, evoke the athlete’s origins. On the sapphire case back that reveals the UNICO manufacture movement, the silhouette of “Lightning Bolt” displays his emblematic victory sign.

On Sunday June 26th, he had to complete 36 holes due to a flooded course on Saturday. He once again lived up to his nickname “Iceman” when he managed to plough through 3 bogeys in 5 holes without letting it affect his grit to keep the lead during his final round and finally win the title.

This is his 17th victory worldwide and the 2nd time he wins this particular tournament since 2006. Henrik had several great results since the start of the 2016 season (2nd in Houston and in South Africa, 3rd in Orlando and in Abu Dhabi, 4th in Sweden, 6th in Dubai) and a total of 8 runner up finishes since he last won a tournament in Dubai in November 2014. He has now reached the world number 5th place.

When lifting the trophy, Henrik sported a Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph specially made for the Audemars Piguet Golf Dream Team. Recognizable with its icy blue strap, it has a white ceramic case with blue ceramic pushers and crown. It is the first time Audemars Piguet uses coloured ceramic outside white and black.

The bezel, folding buckle, crown, lugs and sides of the case on the Venturer Tourbillon sparkle with
diamonds of various sizes, highlighting the unusual shapes in the case profile that are so dear to H. Moser &
Cie. The contrast is striking: the sparkle of the smooth cut stones is set off beautifully by the clean, minimalist
lines of the Venturer collection, inspired by H. Moser & Cie.'s historic pocket watches and by the convex

In Chinese mythology the dragon is a divine creature signifying power and good fortune, and is the free spirit of the zodiac. In ancient and modern Chinese culture, the dragon is often depicted along with the fenghuang.

The dragon and fenghuang are indeed considered symbolic of blissful relations between husband and wife, a common yin and yang metaphor. A symbol of high virtue and grace, the fenghuang has multiple positive connotations.

This limited edition was created to celebrate these divine creatures. The dragon and fenghuang are depicted with a technique reinterpreting the principles of the ancestral art of Chinese paper cutting, also named Jianzhi. Instead of paper the motive is created on mother-of-pearl by applying successive layers of lacquer with a miniature pad, executed with exquisite delicacy of touch and featuring fine details that evoke the depth and texture of the dragon and the fenghuang.

Arnold & Son is proud of this singular timepiece, as Fabien Dutriaux explains: “The light reflected from the depths of the white mother-of-pearl dial illuminates the richness of detail in the exquisite motive and eloquently expresses our mastery of the decorative arts.” It is no small tribute to the craftsman who created it to say that the image on the dial captures all the finesse in the ancestral Chinese art of paper cutting.

The watch is powered by the A&S1001 movement, which is just 2.70 mm thick and manufactured entirely in-house. Housed in a 40 mm 18-karat rose gold case, it has twin barrels that generate a 90-hour power reserve, guarantee a more constant force and in turn a more constant rate and greater accuracy. All the plates and bridges in the movement are hand-chamfered and decorated – a further indication of the traditional craftsmanship upheld by Arnold & Son.
