CHRONO II Brazil Edition

CVSTOS pays tribute to the Brazilian nation by introducing the CHRONO II Brazil directly inspired by the Brazilian national symbols an colors: yellow representing gold and the wealth of Brazil, green its natural beauty and hope, dark blue symbolising the night sky and rivers of the country, and finally, white standing for peace.

The layered open dial, which allows the elegant movement to be seen while still offering optimal readability, is surrounded by a yellow flange featuring a tachymeter scale. The chronograph counters have applied green rims and are accentuated by yellow markers.

However, the maximum expression of the dedication of this model to Brazil is shown at 9 o’clock where the national Brazilian crest is incorporated into the dial. The sky Orb, also present in the Brazilian Flag, contains the motto “Ordem & Progresso” which, when translated, reads “Order and Progress” and 27 stars, each representing a Brazilian Federal State.

The blackened baton indexes are punctuated with green dots and filled with yellow Super Luminova, bringing extra clarity to the dial. The blackened hands, also with yellow Super Luminova, are punctuated with vivid green endings on the counter hands and the chronograph central hand with dark blue.

The Power Reserve Indicator is accented with the Brazilian national colors in the shape of a gauge.


The CHRONO II movement is a construction of a robust and high performance base to which it is added an additional module offering the functions of Hour and Minute, Chronograph, Power Reserve Indicator and Date. The entire movement is sculpted according to CVSTOS technical demands: bridges, components and date disc are laser cut removing weight from the movement and added a decorative black PVD coating. The movement is placed inside a titanium circle, which acts as a protective cage, turning the ensemble of the more than 150 parts that compose the mechanism into a single robust block.

The movement is powered by an oscillating mass, seen through the open case back, protected by a sapphire glass, encompassing a duo-metal construction of Tungsten 88 & Titanium.

Following the principle of a pendulum, a heavier external weight concentrated in the blade and a much lighter set of spokes made of titanium provide, with a small twitch of the wrist,  an energy supply to the movement with greater ease. This structure allows not only for the mass to be thinner and lighter but considerably smaller offering a clearer view of the decorated chronograph movement’s back.

The 53.7mm x 41mm barrel shaped case, chosen for its comfort and practicality, has its weight lifted by shearing essential milligrams from the bezel resulting in a dynamic shape with structured inserts. The rugged design of the case is complemented with the titanium serrated pushers which offer a better grip and handling of the Start/Stop and Reset functions of the chronograph.

Not unlike your choice of cufflinks that stamp your individuality, CVSTOS has also incorporated black Titanium Grade 5 crowns and screws engraved with its hallmark pattern. Water resistance to 100m is achieved by means of a screw down crown with a yellow Nitril (NBR©) insert.

The case architecture and details are then highlighted by the polished and satin finishing and fitted with a black nylon strap, enhancing the timepiece’s sportive allure.

Maintaining its exclusivity the CVSTOS CHRONO II Brazil is available in a Limited Edition of 50 pieces.

Based on this new concept, the CARBON HONOLULU, sober and sleek, either carved by the latest technologies or created from moulds or materials arranged in random form, with a specific mixture of carbon fibres (black) and coloured nano-fibre glass (red, blue, orange, etc.) and Epoxy resins, from which any forms of air bubbles are eliminated either from the resin mixture, or the fibres’ overlays to finally obtain a homogeneous and compact mass, treated after transformation through the last cooking process in the autoclave oven at a controlled atmosphere and temperature. When exiting the oven, each timepiece has its own aesthetic, or even its own digital fingerprint, as we may say...

CVSTOS – CHALLENGE DANI PEDROSA Carbon Chronograph NEW

Since 2013, CVSTOS is present on the wrist of Motorcycle GP Champion, Dani Pedrosa, as a "privileged partner", and in this dynamic the CVSTOS maison, inspired by the lifestyle of the champion, wanted to make a change in the exclusive and coveted "DANI PEDROSA CHALLENGE 26" model.

Today CVSTOS honors the mutual fidelity, in this way, by creating this new model, this new object which is the result of the continuity of wanting to go ever further, in the image of this discipline, of great physical impact and mental. This new automatic chronograph is dedicated to the competitor, for the management of his effort and performance throughout his workouts (squash, swimming, running, cycling).

Thus, naturally, the “DANI PEDROSA CARBON” attaches the same performance technological objectives in this obsessive quest for lightness. This relentless pursuit of pioneering applied-technologies, oriented CVSTOS on the implementation of this new material of which CVSTOS has exclusivity. Today this material is used (the single carbon fiber) in different fields of applications such as the aerospace industry or on the Moto GP competition, in the production of chassis which need to respond to all kinds challenges.

A lighter case
ORANGE NANO CARBONE

Based on this new concept, the «DANI PEDROSA CARBON», sober and elegant at once, sculpted by the latest technology, generated by different stages of vacuum castings, where the nano fibers are arranged randomly, according to a specific mix, composed of carbon nano-fibers (black) and colored orange REPSOL glass fibers and a binder made of epoxy resins.

Fabrication Process

An autoclave oven at controlled temperature and atmosphere induces a vacuum, to remove all forms of air bubbles from the mold, either in the resin mixture, as in layering of the fibers, to obtain, a homogeneous and compact mass of material, obtained after processing through the cooking process. At the end of each batch, all the pieces have their own aesthetic comparable to fingerprints in humans ... we'd be pushed to tell as each piece is UNIQUE!!!

Other elements of the watch render hommage to the exploits of the champion and the captivating world of racing:

•    The crown suggests the wheel élégamment le volant moteur d’une moto.
•    Both solid pushers evoque the brake and clutch handles.

Dial: design and precision

The NANO ORANGE CARBON case contains a three-dimensional multilayer dial skeleton, which wears: at 9 o’clock, a hand-painted logo identical to that appearing on the helmet of champion, it is equipped with a Samurai his sabre and a pacifier.

Inspired and captivated by the philosophy of the Samurai warrior, Dani Pedrosa has chosen to make it his logo at the age of 13, early in his career. He was the youngest driver in the circuit, and it was then that he decided to add a pacifier to the paraphernalia of his Samurai warrior. The latter represents the image of the child in every one of us, and helps to recall the beginnings of the pilot and his own passion for this sport.

At 12 o’clock, the minute counter and the hour counter at 6 o’clock, shaped brake discs are fitted with a strap with orange colors of the new RC213V REPSOL HONDA; Power reserve can be found at 3 o’clock in the manner of a digital tachometer displaying in red the danger area. At 9o’clock the logo of the little Samurai is hand painted and inlaid on the dial plate. Little extra detail: in the date counter, the number 26 red lights every 26 of the months.

An ideal movement for motorsports

This automatic chronograph movement is assembled and decorated in the workshops of the manufacture CVSTOS in Geneva, with an oscillating weight, similar to the spoked rim REPSOL HONDA RC213V. This rotor uses the already developed and approved by CVSTOS technology of tungstène88 / Titanium Grade5.

A revealing voyage of shared passions…

Approaching the golden pavilion of Kinkaku-ji, the fascination acted in an outburst of inspiration… then “immediately, I found it difficult to exhale”… there is no word or phrase to render such perfection, such elegance, such harmony… at the sight of this place, bathing in silence… Cradled by the song of the birds, by the murmurs of water cascades, feeding the neighbouring basins. An irreprehensible desire, to do something, that could recreate this feeling… “I was deeply moved”.

Returning from this initiatory voyage to Kyoto, drifted by these encounters, the places he has visited, and in ceaseless quest for inspiration, Antonio Terranova (maker & designer of CVSTOS brand) undertakes a personal approach, under the form of a dedication, materialised in a watch that pays homage to the country of the rising sun (Japan). Satisfying the most various customisation wishes as regards the choice of colour materials for the background, like the cover of open design Barrel recalling the “lotus” flower, another symbol pertaining to Zen philosophy, or the choice of integrating to the latter another subject that is equally suggestive for the pond – “the dragonfly”, or even more the splashes formed by the carp in heading to the surface while crossing the Yellow River, implying perseverance.

Contradictions you would say…

One should be able to express a great deal of creativity through a modular standing, adjustable at the choice of a craftsman engraver – just like an artist in front of his canvas. Many of the brand’s customers are active in the realm of high-performance sports, and a demand for immediate legibility of the dial, together with designer Antonio Terranova’s quest for the ultimate contemporary classical style, has fuelled the new-look flagship timepiece.
Retaining the same functionalities as Cvstos’ Challenger Chronograph models, the Challenge Chrono II comprises a Cvstos 577 automatic chronograph movement and Cvstos Technology tungsten 88 rotor. Key design differences include a more rationalized dial and lighter construction, aided by a choice of tungsten and titanium materials.

The Challenge Chrono II offers optimal readability, thanks to new positioning of the chronograph counter subdials, yet which still provides visibility onto the elegant inner mechanics below. Thicker baton indexes and bolder counters in broad strokes of white SuperLuminova, bring extra clarity to the dial. Previous Arabic numerals have been removed to better accentuate the tachymeter reading, and ensure the hour display takes centre stage.

The date counter remains at 3 o’clock, whilst the neighboring 42-hour power reserve indicator is now emphasized in an accent color, for exquisitely precise reading.

For comfort and practicality, weight is effortlessly lifted from the timepiece through a bezel redesign, now featuring structured inserts, which lend dynamism and shear essential milligrams from the case structure. Similarly, the strap, in grooved rubber, enhances the timepiece’s sporting allure whilst offering a more lightweight interpretation of a full rubber strap. This rugged motif is echoed in the ridged, gripper push buttons – a new feature on the Challenge Chrono II.

Born in Athens of royal descent, DAEDALVS roamed the Mediterranean, fleeing the royal palace of KNOSSOS in Crete where he was held prisoner. This complex building was one of his greatest creations, commissioned by King Minos and better known as the labyrinth, guarded by a monster with the body of a man and the head of a bull, more commonly called the Minotaur.

In Greek mythology this architectural monument figures in several stories including:

« The flight of Icarus »

It was with the aid of wings made of feathers and wax for the structure ( consisting of beehive shelves) that he made his flight from the island of Crete together with his son ICARVS. The latter, exhilarated by the flight, disobeyed his father and rose so high in the sky that the heat of the sun fatally melted the wax of his wings… he plunged into the sea… and was drowned.

DAEDALVS found refuge in Sicily, with King KOKALOS. In exchange for his protection KOKALOS, in his matchless vanity, demanded a palace as ostentatious and majestic as that of King Minos. In order to impress the king, DAEDALVS produced a number of works. In particular he created for the king’s daughter, Aphrodite of Erice, a golden jewel whose shape and structure recreated the shelves of the beehive. History recounts that the perfection in the execution of this jewel made it impossible to distinguish how such a result was obtained, so amazing was the degree of realism. Legend has it that this jewel, both exceptional and unique, was made from a plaster mould originating from a real honeycomb.

DAEDALVS had just invented the technique of investment casting…

Homage to DAEDALVS

The brand’s spirit of genius creates an innovative process of laser cutting without deformation either for the honeycomb structure or for the railway of the dial’s minute circle, sculpted from a solid, the latter coming from a titanium sheet of two tenths of a millimetre…
