STROM – AGONIUM Nethuns II Diving Watches

STROMAGONIUM Nethuns II Diving Watch Limited Edition NEW

STROM AGONIUM - NETHUNS II DIVING WATCH
God of Water - The
5 th element of Daniel Strom

Water has always had its divinities: Tlaloc for the Aztecs, Ymir for the Vikings, Poseidon for the Greeks and Nethuns for the Etruscans. All of them reigned over the most fundamental of the four elements. Source of life and purifying symbol across all cultures, water is what connects human beings to the entire living world.

Daniel Strom, Switzerland based independent watchmaker and designer, presents a new diving watch from his AGONIUM collection.

Just as the stalks of the giant fennel (ferula communis) served as vessels to carry fire in ancient times, Agonium Nethuns II is an authentic machine for preserving life. Clad in its imposing bronze or silver ‘shell’ that is water-resistant to 200 meters and named after the Etruscan ocean god, the NETHUNS II diving watch evokes both the retro-futurist world of Jules Vernes and the underwater kingdom.

Of the four known elements, water is undoubtedly that which most inspires life. In a state of perpetual motion, it flows from springs to streams and from rivers to oceans before returning to the sky and being reborn as rain. A perpetual cycle that has greatly inspired Daniel Strom for the creation of his fifth allegorical universe.

Hand-finished, individually numbered NETHUNS II is an authentic diving instrument meeting international water-resistance and safety norms. Its unique construction is based on a sculpted additional outer case fitted over a perfectly watertight case.

A sturdy screw-locked crown at 9 o’clock serves to adjust an inner diving bezel, offering a particularly sophisticated solution that prevents any inadvertent handling.

NETHUNS II like every watch in the collection AGONIUM, comprises two cases. The robust and hermetic inner case houses the movement. The outer case brings the artistic dimension and gives free rein to the sculptor's talent. Each one is fashioned by hand, never two the same, with limited editions in each alloy. A sculpture first. A timepiece second.

A watchmaker, designer and philosopher, Daniel Strom has constantly questioned the past to enlighten the future. Considering time not as a simple measurement, but as a vital energy, he infuses his creations with a symbolic dimension, consistently highlighting the human condition faced with the eternal nature of life.

GIRARD-PERREGAUX – HERITAGE 1957 Gyromatic

GIRARD-PERREGAUX HERITAGE 1957 Gyromatic 225th Anniversary NEW

The Girard-Perregaux 1957 a design inspired by
Girard-Perregaux’s iconic model from the 60’s the
«Gyromatic»: High frequency at its finest

The Swiss haute Horlogerie Manufacture unveils the 1957 - this 40 mm steel watch features a revisited Vintage design strongly inspired by the aesthetic codes of the Girard-Perregaux’s Gyromatic watches dating from the 1960s at the occasion of Girard-Perregaux’s 225th anniversary this year.

For centuries, watchmakers had been fascinated by the prospect of winding a watch’s mainspring automatically. Girard-Perregaux produced a revolutionary solution in 1957 called « Gyromatic », it remains a milestone in the development of the self-winding wristwatch.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       FOTO

One of  the major challenges associated with  automatic winding  is  how to turn the circular to-and-fro movement of the movement’s  oscillating  mass,  or rotor, into the one-way circular motion that can actually wind the mainspring. For this purpose, horological engineers usually resort to a device called a motion reverser, featuring ratcheted wheels. However, the stronger the pawls and teeth, the larger they are, leading to an increase in idle travel. The remedy lies in using smaller, hence more fragile components. The only solution here is a never quite satisfactory compromise.

GIRARD-PERREGAUX – Movement GP3300

The «Gyromatic» system substitutes roller-equipped unidirectional clutches for the ratchet wheels. The resulting construction is simple, reliable and efficient. What’s more, its compactness opens the way for slim, sleek and stylish designs. The «Gyromatic» has since demonstrated its excellence in thousands of Girard-Perregaux timepieces including the top-of-the-line «Gyromatic HF (for high frequency), the selfwinding watch equivalent of the «Formula 1» race car. This development marked its ultimate major contribution to mechanical watch design. Along with others, it is attested by the patents granted to the company over the years.

GIRARD-PERREGAUXHERITAGE 1957 Observatory Chronometer Gyromatic HF

In 1966, the Neuchâtel Observatory’s prestigious Centenary Prize acknowledged Girard-Perregaux’s superior ability. The next year, no less than 73% of all rating certificates were attributed to Girard-Perregaux high frequency watches, a tribute to the extreme degree of precision which Girard-Perregaux had brought to mechanical time technology.

As an homage to this period, the Manufactures celebrates this year its iconic timepiece at the occasion of Girard Perregaux’s 225th Anniversary. The 1957, with its glass box, champagne dial with an retro effect, dauphine hands with luminescent material and applied indexes recalls Girard-Perregaux’s heritage.

The new Pilot North America Special Editions display the distinctive characteristics of Zenith aviator watches: a high-precision mechanism, a generous diameter, a large ratcheted crown enabling adjustment with gloved hands, broad luminescent Arabic numerals and stylised hands ensuring perfect readability. Issued in two 50-piece series, the Pilot Type 20 GMT and Pilot Extra Special models carry the DNA of a collection designed to brave any skies.

Pilot Type 20 GMT: beyond the horizon

Inspired by the onboard instruments that Zenith produced in aviation’s infancy, the new Pilot Type 20 GMT is a worthy heir to that glorious period. This surprisingly airy model appears in an ultra-light 48 mm-diameter black DLC-coated titanium case featuring a broad notched crown ensuring a perfect grip. Protected by a domed sapphire crystal., the matt blue dial features typical oversized Arabic numerals swept over by broad faceted hands.

The luminescent creamy display sprinkled with red accents creates a unique vintage touch. And while the powerful and distinctive lines are a call to adventure, the dual-time indication powered by the automatic Elite 693 caliber makes the Pilot Type 20 GMT the ideal companion for modern global nomads. Water-resistant to 100 meters, its case has a solid back depicting the feat achieved by the Wright brothers in 1903 when they launched their “Flyer” glider above the dunes of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. A blue alligator leather strap with white stitching echoes the deep shades of this watch dedicated to aeronautical enthusiasts.

Pilot Type 20 Extra Spécial: an airborne legend

Testifying to the pioneering role played by Zenith in the conquest of the skies, the new Pilot Type 20 Extra Special flaunts all the attributes of these emblematic aviator watches. With its generous 45 mm-diameter case, its broad screw-lock crown and its oversized display ensuring optimal visibility, it boldly proclaims its legendary lineage. The deep blue shade accentuates the vintage charm of the matt dial punctuated by large Arabic numerals swept over by luminescent facetted hands and bearing the inscription “Extra Special” in red.

Inside its stainless fuselage throbs a reliable and precise ‘engine’: the automatic Elite 679 caliber with its 50-hour power reserve, driving the central hours, minutes and sweep-seconds hands. The solid back of the case, which is water-resistant to 100 meters, bears the effigy of the plane flown by Louis Blériot when he crossed the Channel in 1909 with his Zenith firmly strapped to its wrist. It also features the Zenith flight instruments logo, a nod to its legendary origins. An elegant blue alligator leather strap with white stitching sets the perfect finishing touch to this virile timepiece tinged with an unmistakable retro charm.
