SPECIAL EDITION ARMIN STROM SKELETON PURE TO BE AUCTIONED 

IN 2015 'ONLY WATCH' CHARITY EVENT – NOVEMBER 7 IN GENEVA

ARMIN STROM's Skeleton Pure Only Watch edition 2015 will be auctioned for charity at the highly anticipated, biennial Only Watch event on November 7 in Geneva. The auction benefit supports scientific and medical research regarding Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For the first time, the auction will be held in Geneva and be the opening event of Geneva Watch Auction Week, when hundreds of connoisseurs and collectors gather in the city.

The Only Watch collection of 44 one-of-a-kind fine timepieces will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show September 23-26 and followed by a four-city tour of Hong Kong, Beijing, New York and London in October. It will be displayed in Geneva for two days prior to the auction, which will be conducted by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo.

The ARMIN STROM Skeleton Pure Only Watch edition 2015 is powered by Calibre ARM09-S and features a striking PVD coated matte black main plate and bridges. Colorization enhances the dimension and definition of the movement's complex design.

The entirely skeletonized Calibre ARM09-S is a manual-wind, double-barrel movement with an eight-day power reserve. The dial exhibits hours, minutes, small seconds and power reserve indicator. ARMIN STROM designs its watches so the more intricate side of the calibre is visible on the dial side. When the Skeleton Pure is wound, the double-barrel movement creates an engaging animation.

Through five auctions spanning 10 years, Only Watch has raised more than 15 million Euros to finance scientific and medical research regarding neuromuscular diseases and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The event is organized by Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, the Monaco Yacht Show and Phillips auction house in association with Bacs & Russo.

Like several of this year’s releases, this la- test jewellery timepiece to be exclusively unveiled at Watches&Wonders 2015 from Roger Dubuis reflects the Astral Skeleton principle. The concept is based on the unique star-shaped design of Roger Dubuis contem- porary skeleton movements, borrowed from nature and its heavenly constellations.

In the Excalibur Star of Infinity, formal aesthetics meets functionality, since the tips of the RD01SQ skeleton double flying tourbillon ‘star’ point to several hour-markers and thus enhance clarity. Even more significantly, they appear to stretch out towards the vast expanses of space… the infinity evoked in its name. This luminous interpretation glows with the fire of 312 baguette-cut diamonds totalling approximately 14.93 carats and adorning the full-pavé white gold case, the flange – as well as the star itself, which sparkles with 34 of these gems (0.96 cts).

The pristine radiance of the precious stones admirably complements the rhodium-plated charcoal grey of the calibre with its finely circular-grained plate and illuminates the twin Celtic cross-shaped tourbillon carriages.

 Because they broke with conservative moral, religious and political customs, these objects were often banned and confiscated. The bridges and plate of the self-winding tourbillon caliber are machined from grade 5 titanium. Designed in collaboration with Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi, this movement features 505 components and 41 jewels, and is extremely compact thanks to its unique Duoplan construction that enables the tourbillon and barrel to be aligned on the same axis. Enhanced by steep bridges, the 3 Hz tourbillon carriage and the barrel insist on being seen.

Circular-graining, beveling, mirror-finishing and hand-polished sinks are paired with PVD-treated, micro-blasted and satin-finished surfaces to create exemplary finishes that reflect an uncompromising commitment to the caliber’s aesthetic.

 Its 69-hour power reserve is displayed in a new aperture at 4 o’clock in the form of a gauge powered by a planetary differential. This exceptional power reserve, obtained using a simple barrel, testifies to the Swiss brand’s quest for high performance in this original movement.

The RM 69 thus offers its wearers the pure pleasure of the new Richard Mille “Oracle” complication, a mechanism that sets off the rotation of three grade 5 titanium engraved rollers like Tibetan prayer wheels, displaying a random phrase. Activated on request by pressing a button at 10 o’clock, it plainly reveals the wearers’ deepest desires.

To enhance its legibility, the movement’s engineers have developed a mechanism allowing the hands to break free from the geartrain. Activating the push-piece at 8 o’clock makes the hands disappear, visually liberating the rollers. Once released, the hands automatically return to their rightful position in time.

The RM69 caliber is protected by a tripartite case in grade 5 titanium featuring generous dimensions of 50.00 mm x 42.70 mm x 16.15 mm. Ergonomic and extremely comfortable – as is always the case with Richard Mille – the case is assembled with 20 Spline screws, also in titanium, ensuring the watch remains water-resistance up to 50 meters.
