This special edition, created as a tribute to the greatest tennis tournament on clay courts, houses a unique movement using the latest-generation technologies.

Longines, timekeeper for sporting performances since 1878, is launching a new line of watches that have been specially created for sports which require high precision timing. The Conquest 1/100th series responds to the needs of athletes, professionals and sports fans, besides many others, since it measures multiple intermediary times and has an intuitive analogue display that shows the time to one hundredth of a second using a separate hand. All of this is possible thanks to the latest generation of quartz movement developed exclusively for Longines by ETA.

As a tribute to the strong relationship that it has developed with the Parisian tournament, the winged hourglass brand is launching an exclusive edition: the Conquest 1/100th Roland Garros. Touches of orange on the hands, the dial or the flange indexes subtly hint at the iconic clay of the French Open courts, while the case back is engraved with the logo of Roland Garros.

The demands required for Longines to reach such an extreme level of precision have led to the development of a new unique quartz movement, the L440. This new model includes a microcontroller with a flash memory that allows the watch to be reset instantly and allows intermediary times to be recorded.

With a diameter of 41 mm, this steel model has an anthracite face that displays hours, minutes, small seconds at 6 o'clock, the date and other chronographic functions: a central seconds hand, a 30-minute stopwatch at 2 o'clock and a 12-hour stopwatch at 10 o'clock.

The hand in orange displays time to one hundredth of a second and is the watch's crowning glory at the centre. The model is also fitted with a steel bracelet and a butterfly clasp.

In addition, the timepiece comes with two pusher bumpers in carbon fiber composite to set the Chronograph function.

The bezel is also made out of unidirectional carbon fiber and is accentuated with applied rhodium-coated indexes and a red-marked seconds hand – this gives the watch a slick and smooth style, in combination with the cushion-shaped case. A black “Rubbergator” strap complements the elegant and tone-in-tone look and features a black titanium-folding buckle. The “engine” of this remarkable chronograph timepiece comes in the form of a self-winding JR66 movement and is revealed through the screwed-down sapphire crystal case back.

History

The ancestor of Tigran Karabedyan was a renowned goldsmith with wonderful skills to work the metal. He had acquired a great notoriety in the entire region where he exercised his art and was regularly sought to repair failing clocks as well. His fame is not only because of his competence. Indeed he was a good man, humble, generous, devoted to his family, and faithful to his friends. His highly professional skills and knowledge gave him not only a comfortable life but also the consideration and the respect of his surroundings.
Anxious to transfer the legacy of his ancestor and in the respect for the ethical values which had marked his life and works, Tigran Karabedyan decides to create his own watch brand and to locate it in Switzerland, in the city of Neuchâtel, the ancestral cradle of the Swiss watch industry.
The KERBEDANZ watches have a dual heritage: the know-how of the ancestral watchmaking and the ethic value cultivated by a man fair and straight, highly self-demanding in his professional commitment and in his life as well.
Through its product policy - concept, manufacturing and high quality finishing - the excellence of its network and overall the respect dedicated to its Clients, KERBEDANZ will fully reflect these ethical values.

On the occasion of the opening of its new Ateliers in Geneva, Ateliers deMonaco (dMc) has been granted the prestigious "Poinçon de Genève" for its latest new collection "The PdG".

Originally created in 1886 to combat counter fits, the "Poinçon de Genève" is a quality certification of the watch as a whole. Given the strict standards used, the "Poinçon de Genève" is the most demanding signature for quality in fine watchmaking, and only a very few can carry in the Haute Horlogerie.

The assessment for the "Poinçon de Genève" is conducted by officially appointed sworn inspectors from TIMELAB : the Geneva Laboratory of Horology and Micro-engineering. As a neutral and independent institution, the very strict rules governing the "Poinçon de Genève" guarantees the provenance and know-how, flawless quality of components, certification to finishing and accuracy, lastly the ultimate seal of quality and craftsmanship.

For instance, all parts of the movement, from the main caliber's plate to the smallest screw, are thus finished according to traditional techniques including polished chamfers, straight-grained sides, smoothed down or leveled faces, polished or circular-grained screw heads with chamfered edges. All the watches produced in Switzerland each year, only a very few bear the "Poinçon de Genève" certification.

On top of de "Poinçon de Genève" certification, the new released dMc PdG timepieces also include our latest innovation with the patented "Freebeat" adjustment system. In a conventional regulation system, pins on both side of the hairspring are used to regulate how much it can wind and unwind hence regulating the speed of the balance wheel.

By allowing the hairspring to bounce against these pins, in combination to gravity forces, the unfortunate side effect of these collisions is that it interferes with the precision of the movement itself. Our newly patented "Freebeat Regulation System" allows us to regulate the length of the hairspring with an adjustable "crémaillère" (straight bar with teeth on one edge, allowing it to be fixated at different length) obsoleting the need for the pins and thus avoiding the interference!
