It’s an honour for Hublot, as we love Mexico so much, to share with friends the work of Richard Orlinski. An artist whose bestiary of sculptures already features the emblems marking the power of the Mexican flag—the snake and the eagle. Is this chance or fate?

I’m delighted to have designed the new Classic Fusion Orlinski Mexico with the Hublot teams. For me, this colourful land was a real source of inspiration and made me want to create a collection of sculptures celebrating Mexico.”

For the first time Orlinski decided to use green, this time in the creation of the new Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Orlinski México. The Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph has a distinctive and original style, marked by bevelled look with edges and facets that capture the light. The timepiece now confirms its original design in vivid green.

GOING GREEN IS ON TREND

Capturing the trend of ‘going green’ the Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Orlinski México is available in only 30 pieces incorporating the colours of the Mexican flag. A key feature of the watch is he case with 12 facets in green ceramic, created by Orlinski using a three-dimensional cambering technique.

The Mexican flag heavily inspires the watch – the green case symbolises hope and independence, the red second hand on the dial evokes the union and the HUB1155 skeleton self-winding chronograph movement bears the eagle and snake featured on the Mexican flag and interpreted by Orlinski who has previously featured these creatures in his bestiary. In addition, a new sculpture featuring and eagle and snake by Orlinski will be revealed at the SIAR Mexico show, with a silhouette of this creation included as a decoration on the watch.

The two animals embody ‘Earth’ and ‘Heaven’ and remind us that: “while struggle is a necessary stage in existence to become aware of the reality of the world, it cannot be the goal that lies in the union between beings and, above all, between a being and themself.” The Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Orlinski Mexico has been designed as a piece of art to be worn on the wrist.

The SIAR Mexico show marks the moment when Richard Orlinski brings his graphic universe to the very heart of Mexico. Richard Orlinski, one of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists is part of the Hublot family alongside Maxime Büchi, Lapo Elkann, Pelé, Lang Lang, Bar Refaeli, Usain Bolt and Dustin Johnson.

WHEN TIME MAKES ART.
WHEN ART MAKES TIME!

-----------------------------
⭕️ RICHARD ORLINSKI

You will inevitably have come across his pop-coloured faceted bestiary somewhere. It is impossible to miss the unique pieces of Richard Orlinski, from the Wild Kong gorillas on the Croisette in Cannes to the crocodiles in the sun in the Miami Design District and the 5-metre-tall bear on the snow-covered slopes of Courchevel.

In 2004, Richard Orlinski decided to devote himself entirely to art. Imbued with pop-culture, the artist created a colourful world inspired by the wildest animals and by the iconic objects that have left a mark on their generation.

Driven by a desire to democratise art by making it accessible to as many people as possible, Richard Orlinski is an enthusiast who has been able to overcome many obstacles, to push his limits and to constantly reinvent himself. His drive to popularise art also takes the form of a desire to provoke immediate emotion, among children and adults alike. Far-removed from the diktats of the contemporary art world, the artist’s works shout out for him!

The sculptor, who loves art in all its forms, blasts away preconceived ideas and is not afraid to knock down the walls between forms of artistic expression. Driven by a global and universal vision, he enjoys exploring different fields: sculpture, design, music, live performance…

Represented by over 90 galleries in France and abroad, Richard Orlinski has been the bestselling contemporary French artist in the world since 2015,

The Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral Limited Edition is the embodiment of 130 years of sophistication at Carl F. Bucherer. We are proud of this exceptional timepiece, which is a tribute to our long tradition and at the same time heralds the arrival of a new range of products: the Heritage collection,” an-nounces Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer.

A Tribute to 130 Years of “Made of Lucerne” Watchmaking Heritage

The first model from the new Heritage collection is limited to just 88 pieces – a homage to the year Carl F. Bucherer was founded, 1888. The cosmopolitan and internationally renowned luxury watch man-ufacturer was established in Lucerne in the heart of Switzerland. The new timepiece reflects the golden luster of the baroque city itself, with an elaborately finished 42.50 mm, 18-karat rose gold case.

Another homage to the birthplace of Carl F. Bucherer is the movement bridge crafted in 18-karat white gold, which features a hand-engraved cityscape of Lucerne. It covers the entire back of the movement, with the excep-tion of the tourbillon. At the center of the intricate engraving – the result of more than two weeks of meticu-lous craftsmanship – is the Lucerne Chapel Bridge, the landmark of the city.

There is a special detail in this engraving: a swan. This reference to Lucerne’s Schwanenplatz alludes to where Carl F. Bucherer opened its first specialty store back in 1888, not far from where the boutique is located today. The position of the swan differs on each of the 88 models – a custom feature that further underlines the unique character of each of these timepieces.

The shape of the case and the design of the dial, featuring a sunburst finish and milled rings decorating its periphery, paired with striking diamond-shaped indices, were inspired by various vintage watch models from the 1960s.  The brand thus combines retro design elements with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, thereby successfully bridging the gap between the past and the present, into a bright future.

A Pioneer of Peripheral Technology

At the heart of the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral Limited Edition is the in-house CFB T3000 caliber, featuring a tourbillon and an automatic winding system that are both mounted peripherally. The innovative movement was presented for the first time at this year’s Baselworld and is the only of its kind worldwide.

With the CFB A1000 caliber, Carl F. Bucherer started series production on the first-ever movement powered by a bidirectional automatic winding system with a peripheral rotor. This technology was further refined in the COSC-certified CFB A2000 movement. The culmination of this innovative developmental work came in the form of the CFB T3000 caliber. The tourbillon is regarded as a highlight of the art of watchmaking and, in their latest caliber, the designers and watchmakers at Carl F. Bucherer have succeeded in giving it a floating appearance.

The cage of the minute tourbillon is supported peripherally – and invisible to the viewer – by three ball bearings. These frictionless built-in ceramic ball bearings ensure a stable connection and precise guidance. Carl F. Bucherer also took an innovative approach to the escapement design, using non-magnetic silicon for both the pallet and the escape wheel.

The Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral Limited Edition has a power reserve of 65 hours and is a certified chronometer. To celebrate the company’s anniversary and this limited-edition timepiece, the movement’s peripheral rotor was crafted in 22-karat rose gold – a perfect match to the watch case, also made of rose gold.

Patents

Rotor patent:
Automatic winding mechanism with peripherally suspended rotor ring that is mounted with three ceramic ball bearings on its inner circumference. The three ball bearings are mounted on springs and act as a shock absorber. In contrast to centrally mounted rotors, the peripheral rotor ensures an unhindered view of the movement and allows for the watch’s flat design.

Tourbillon patent: * Tourbillon with peripherally mounted rotating carriage. With the tourbillon of Carl F. Bucherer, the mounting of the carriage is ensured by three ceramic ball bearings, which support and guide the bearing wheel at its circumference. These can be adjusted by an eccentric mechanism in order to optimally set the clearance. In comparison to conventional tourbillons, this construction allows for a lower height and an unhindered view of the rotating carriage from both sides.
