ANONIMO – AUTO - GC32 Edition

ANONIMO NAUTILO AUTOMATIC GC32 Racing Tour and World Championship Limited Edition

ANONIMO strengthens its commitment to sailing
by backing
GC32 Racing Tour and World Championship

After beginning its relationship with the GC32 class in 2017, ANONIMO is both renewing its support as Official Timekeeper for the ultra-fast flying catamaran series in 2018 and extending it to the class’ first ever GC32 World Championship. This will take place in Italy on the beautiful Lake Garda over 23-27 May 2018 and will include ANONIMO Speed Challenge, created last year. What a better place for ANONIMO to continue acknowledging its Italian roots and the strong sport-chic personality of its brand ?

ANONIMO wishes to maintain its reputation while the first boat ANONIMO backed was a TP52 competing on the Audi MedCup circuit more than 10 years ago. Since then technology in sailing has evolved dramatically. State of the art sailing now involves foiling boats that fly above the waves rather than pass through them at speeds normally only possible in a power boat. An aspect that remains unchanged is the requirement for a strong ethic of teamwork and co-ordination with each crew.

This year, the GC32 Racing Tour will feature seven teams from six nations and four continents fighting it out in their ultra-high performance one design foiling catamarans. By supporting these flagship events across Europe, ANONIMO follows a successful first season when GC32 Racing Tour events each day included the ANONIMO Speed Challenge. In this teams individually carry out speed runs, with a reach-gybe-reach format, over a measured distance. This provides each crew with the chance to push its GC32 to the limit, requiring maximum effort and focus.

Once again the GC32 Racing Tour in 2018 will visit five of the most attractive sailing venues across southern Europe. These have been handpicked to provide the optimum conditions for flying catamaran racing. This starts with the first ever GC32 World Championship, which will be raced by 15 teams from 10 nations, out of Riva del Garda on Lake Garda, Italy.

The same passion for challenge, team spirit and rigour signal the beginning of a great human adventure. Each crew is doing their part to push the limits and give the best of themselves.

Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day Date 70s

Following its 1956 debut – three years after the launch of the Fifty Fathoms –, the style of Blancpain’s Bathyscaphe evolved with the times. The 70s saw bold dial markings with Arabic numerals and windows for the day of the week and date at 3 o’clock. The new Bathyscaphe Day Date 70s, which will be limited to 500 pieces, captures the allure of that model while incorporating Blancpain’s current technical advances.

During the 70s, Blancpain evolved its line of Bathyscaphe models, introducing a few diving watches with new aesthetic codes. These models featured a silvered dial ring with rectangular indexes and Arabic numerals radially arrayed every five minutes. Today’s Blancpain was inspired by this unique style in the creation of the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day Date 70s timepiece.

The dial of this new limited-edition watch captures the look of the 70s model with its day of the week and date indications at 3 o’clock. As with the vintage piece, this new model has a subtle graduated gray coloring, darker on the outer perimeter and infused with lighter tones toward the center, thus creating the perception of a larger dial size with enhanced readability.

While the aesthetics of this new timepiece draw upon history, the watch takes advantage of Blancpain’s latest technical advances. The 43mm satin-finished case is equipped with an unidirectional bezel featuring a ceramic insert whose indexes are filled with Liquidmetal®.
