The project was initiated when Arpa created the Son of Sound tourbillon and he started to think about expanding the collection to include a special minute repeater. Inspired by the exceptional sound of the famous Bo Diddley 1959 Gretsch guitar, Arpa designed a unique case to amplify the sound and show off the incredible movement, the mainplate of which looks like the Gretsch guitar.

The sapphire back of the watch even has a space-expanding bubble in the crystal to add to the volume of the sound, and to allow the tourbillon to turn on its second axis. The minute repeater has three gongs – one to let the customer know that the minute repeater chiming system is engaged, one for the hours, one for the minutes and the two striking together for the quarter hours. The timber, the part the gongs strike, is specially designed for the case, winding through the movement and around the tourbillon cage.

In fact, upon purchase, customers can even fine-tune the sound of the minute repeater to exactly fit their tastes, with the help of Artya’s master watchmaker. The gong reserved for the start of the minute repeater is a first, and Arpa demanded it because he knew that many users of minute repeaters were cautious about handling their watches too roughly and don’t push the slide hard enough to engage the mechanism.

The tourbillon itself is very complex, turning on two axes – rotating in 60 seconds in one axis and in 30 seconds seconds in the other axis. The cage of the tourbillion is comprised of 50 parts using ten different materials to make it light yet strong enough for the operation.

The case itself is a work of art, using sapphire crystal on the sides, the top and the bottom, to showcase the movement on all levels and to allow for the sound of the minute repeater to be phenomenal.

The watch is powered by two barrels, one for the movement and one for the minute repeater. The first barrel is big, as the double axis tourbillon requires a great deal of energy to operate, while the barrel for the minute repeater is smaller, and the spring is charged when the slide is activated.


The time display is a nod to the tradition of watchmaking – a regulator display was the ultimate in precision, as watchmakers used the large minutes to regulate the watches they were working on. In addition, the regulator display allowed Artya to keep the watch wearable, as a regular hour and minute hand would have made the case too thick and bulky, to allow the hands to pass each other.

The movement has been realized by complications specialist MHC, and the production and assembly requires over 1,000 hours of hand work to complete.

The new 3 Gongs Minute Repeater, Regulator & Double Axis Tourbillon is a first for Artya and for the watch industry.

The vintage spirit of a great Chopard classic

A generously sized retro-style timepiece issued in a 1,000-piece stainless steel edition, the Mille Miglia 2016 XL Race Edition is inspired by the design codes of the cars that took part in the historical race between 1927 and 1940. Water-resistant to 50 metres, its sturdy 46 mm-diameter case makes it the largest of the Mille Miglia wrist chronographs created by Chopard. Its classic and refined lines are enhanced by two traditional pushers and a fluted crown. The perfectly readable black dial is enlivened by wide Arabic numerals and luminescent hands, while the bright red sweep-seconds hand stands out clearly to count off the precious seconds of the race. These legibility-enhancing attributes are essential in a timepiece dedicated to competition in any conditions.

A true partner for drivers, the Mille Miglia 2016 XL Race Edition is equipped with a high-precision watch ‘engine’, chronometer-certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). Entirely developed, designed and assembled in the Chopard workshops, the Chopard Calibre 03.05-C is a new mechanical self-winding movement equipped with a column wheel. Since 2014, Chopard has been accompanying Porsche Motorsport’s return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). As official timing partner of this legendary team, the watch manufacture is particularly proud to celebrate the year 2015 which was crowned with success and to honour this victorious season is presenting a limited series. Porsche claimed the World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship by racking up a string of podium finishes throughout 2015. The most impressive was undoubtedly its double victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year that was one for the history books. This 17th World Championship title further reinforced Porsche’ impressive track record in endurance racing. This much-coveted trophy joined the one earned by the drivers who finished the season at the head of the championship. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of the Chopard group, enthusiastically commented on these remarkable achievements: “2015 was exciting and exceptional in several ways for Porsche, whom we are proud to be partnering. Mühle-Glashütte is now honouring the life and work of its founder with its new Robert Mühle special edition, which also breathes fresh life into a classic complication that is now a rare treasure: the date hand. As you would\ expect from a timepiece made in a genuine manufacturing workshop, the mechanism  was  personally designed by Mühle-Glashütte's  expert watchmakers themselves. This exclusive characteristic is even more enhanced by the fact that this special edition watch is limited to a total of just 100 pieces.

After founding his family company in 1869, Robert Mühle played a significant role in establishing the excellent reputation of the German town of Glashütte as a top watchmaking location thanks to his high-precision measuring instruments. This year, he would have celebrated his 175th birthday. This is reason enough for Mühle-Glashütte to celebrate its namesake by launching a traditionally manufactured classic timepiece that reflects the values practised by Robert Mühle in the most stunning way possible. The new Robert Mühle Zeigerdatum not only boasts the combination of maximum precision and excellent readability that characterises every Mühle watch, but also stands out due to not one, but two additional functions in its mechanical movement, the so-called "complication". These functions are clear for all to see thanks to the watch's large transparent case back.

The "RMK 03" movement, which was designed by the manufacturer's very own watchmakers, forms the heart of the timepiece and is based on the Robert Mühle RMK 01 calibre with an up/down display that has already been given a new design. In the RMK 03, it welcomes an additional complication in the form of the date hand, which is located in the second third of the module plate.

With the small-second display at the 6 o'clock position acting as the perfect finishing touch, the movement contains an impressive tally of 180 components with a total of 33 jewels and therefore features nearly 35 more components than the RMK 01. In keeping with the spirit of Glashütte's classic watchmaking tradition, the new movement is additionally adorned with screwed gold chatons and a finely engraved balance cock.

When it comes to its fine regulation and cover plate, the calibre is yet again a prime example of outstanding craftsmanship because, as is only right for a top-quality Mühle watch, it contains the company's patented woodpecker neck regulation, which is particularly shockproof. In addition, the cover plate was designed as a three-fifth plate with a separate balance cock for the escape wheel.

This time measuring instrument is not only beautifully engineered on the inside, but also stunning on the outside. With their clear silver accents, its three totalisators shine out elegantly against the anthracite-coloured background of its face, while the hour numerals and indices, which are painstakingly applied manually, perfectly complement the watch's polished stainless steel hands. To top it off, the watch's 44-millimetre-wide case made of brushed and polished stainless steel and its crocodile leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp provide a suitably glorious setting for the Zeigerdatum's exclusive complication. After first being used in a pocket watch back in 1793, this complication became somewhat of a thing of the past after the introduction of the date window. To put it simply, this complication is the ideal historic treasure for a timepiece like the R. Mühle & Sohn special edition, which above all represents a precise time measuring instrument that will take pride of place on every wrist.

Distant horizons

The ultimate traveler's watch, the Admiral's Cup Legend 47 Worldtimer is available in two
models vying for the top spot for their style and technical prowess. Its robust case, 47 mm in
diameter, waterproof to 100 metres, is worked from titanium in the first model, while the bi-
colour version marries the metallic brilliance of this ultra-light material with the warmth of rose
gold on the twelve-sided bezel. The case is structured with layers opening onto a matte black
dial punctuated by pennant markers, luminescent Dauphine hands and a skeleton second
hand providing perfect visibility in all circumstances. The bi-color model features a smoked
sapphire crystal dial, which provides a glimpse of the working parts of its mechanical heart.

World time

In perfect contrast, the open bottom of the dial is equipped with smoked sapphire crystal
engraved with the names of cities in 24 time zones as well as their abbreviations. As a result
one can admire the CO376 calibre, its bars echoing a dodecagon and its openwork
oscillating weight. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, for a power-reserve
of 48 hours, this automatically-winding watch includes functions for the hour, minute, and
second, as well as a second time zone and city indicators. Selecting the time zone is
particularly easy, via the crown situated at 2 o'clock pressing on the pusher at 2 o'clock
allows the hour hand to jump forward.

A black vulcanized rubber strap featuring a tri-fold clasp adds the finishing touch to the
technical and distinguished elegance of these two models with hints of adventure and
