Astarwatch – ASTAR by Rino Brodbeck

AstarwatchASTAR by Rino Brodbeck Limited Edition NEW

The Astar by Rino Brodbeck, a mirror of the cosmos

The Astar, produced in 15 numbered editions, is already a collector's item. It is a symbolic interpretation of the movement of the Sun, Earth and Venus.

The Astar was conceived and designed by the renowned Swiss architect Rino Brodbeck. The watch itself was made by Janvier SA, a firm founded by Vianney Halter, one of the most imaginative watchmakers of the early 21st century and winner of the Grand Prix de Genève Innovation Prize in 2013. It was manufactured in Sainte-Croix, at the heart of Switzerland's watchmaking region, with all the care and consideration demanded by the craft.

Fifteen editions and already a museum piece

Inside is a mechanical caliber with automatic winding offering a maximum autonomy of 38 hours. It is based on an ETA movement that breaks down the hour with great precision thanks to its 28,800 vph beat.

This outstanding timepiece is already a rarity: only 14 collectors will be able to acquire one, because one of the fifteen numbered editions manufactured, number 11, to be precise, has already become part of the inventory of the Musée d'Horlogerie de Genève.

This stainless steel timekeeper, whose impeccable roundness embraces something close to total minimalism, has a diameter of 40 millimeters and a height of 10 millimeters. As for the colors and materials, the dial is in a space-like blue, while gold (the hour disc), silver (the minute disc) and diamonds (for the seconds) have replaced the traditional hands.

Time's symbolic power

The Astar by the Swiss architect Rino Brodbeck evokes the cosmic order. It is more than just an instrument to keep time tied to one's wrist. This watch also takes on a more spiritual role, namely that of establishing a symbiosis with the astral universe, of being able to reach a perception of infinity that allows us to think, love, create and act.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...      BIG FOTO

Human beings are not the masters of time. The world they have created imposes a momentum that is in total dissonance with the very astral rhythm they are subjected to. And because the hour, the minute, the second are mere social conventions and ways to control one's availability, a watch just had to be invented with hours that refer to the Sun, minutes to the Moon, and seconds to Venus.
Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...      BIG FOTO
So in the final analysis, the Astar by Rino Brodbeck is the mirror of a celestial system that connects the past with modern times. It's a watch that literally reaches for the stars, fraught, as it is, with inspired symbolism. Because in the vastness of the Universe, time is the

A different way to read time

It takes just a little time, and a learning period, to see the actual time emerge from the configuration of the symbols, the hours-minutes-seconds, the arrangement of surfaces, colors, and specific dimensions, all perfectly legible even when superimposed. And each second that passes opens a new, harmonious composition to the delight of the cosmophile's eye.

Thumbnail biography of the Swiss architect Rino Brodbeck

Rino Brodbeck was born in Basel in 1934. In 1957, he moved Geneva to engage in several architecture projects. A winner of many competitions, he is the author of several major constructions, such as the headquarters of the World Meteorological Organization (OMM) in Geneva, the three new Rolex buildings, and the Hans Wilsdorf bridge (in 2012). Rino Brodbeck always had an affinity for the stars. He therefore imagined a watch governed by the cosmos while, at the same time, respecting the laws that apply in architecture. In 2002, his dream became a reality when he created a limited series of fifteen watches with the following motif: time, space, architecture, and the human being at the center.

GRAHAM – Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Carbon

GRAHAM Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Carbon BLACK NEW

Beyond Technology

It always starts with the lever, then the idea begins to gain momentum. A first technological challenge, then a second. GRAHAM achieved a remarkable technological timepiece which brings Superlight technology to its peak and to high-end watch making.
The Chronofighter Superlight Carbon is the first Chronofighter carbon-fibre-made watch combining complex and unprecedented machining processes.
The superlight black carbon nanotube composite case is enhanced by a carbon trigger, bezel, dial and buckle. Light, soft and comfortable to wear, the Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Carbon will survive rough treatment and the passage of time.

Only a high-level of ambition and extensive research enabled the creation of the impactful and reliable Superlight carbon watch. Perhaps, the easiest way to understand the technical feat is to think of the various carbon properties. Convenient, malleable and lightweight, carbon is the preferred material in aeronautics, car racing, aerospace, sports and other domains that require lightweight, strength and performance. By combining carbon fibre and a strong polymer matrix, carbon fibre composites are simply reshaping the world of high performances.
All the conditions are there to create the most resistant and lightest time machine.

The Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Carbon complete watch weighs lighter than 100g.

GRAHAM has developed a case, made of carbon nanotube speckled composite.
The start and stop lever on the left of the case, the renowned GRAHAM signature, is made of plain carbon fibre –multi layers- and results from a very specific machining process. This means that the lever is a unique piece of carbon which provides the watch with more stiffness and enhanced usability.

Thanks to the instinctive and precise use of the carbon fibre trigger, the chronograph facilitates the measurement of speed thanks to a tachymeter scale and a reversed minute’s counter with a white painted indicator to show the starting point. The function emphasizes the intuitive use of the chronograph and immediate reading.

Tachymeter function and back carbon dial

The shiny carbon bezel and dial perfectly finish the watch design and enable an optimum lightweight and shockproof use in all situations.
Dedicated to adrenaline and advanced technology, the watch is held by a red integrated “Clous de Paris” strap and plain carbon fibre buckle made of different parts and resulting froman inventive assembly process.
No doubt you will create a fused relationship with The Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Carbon.

LONGINES – Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph

http://www.longines.com/

LONGINES HERITAGE Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph NEW

Longines has been based in the market town of St. Imier since it was founded in 1832. As a tribute to its precious heritage, the Swiss watch producer takes its inspiration from the models in its museum to design watches that reflect its vast know-how. The latest addition to the Heritage collection is The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph. Housing an exclusive calibre, this single push-piece chronograph is a re-issue of an earlier pilot's watch and displays the time on a 24-hour scale.

St. Imier – a market town located in a valley in the Swiss Jura mountains. It was here that Longines was founded in 1832 and it is here also that, rooted in a rich history, the brand's museum can be found. Very aware of its vast know-how and true to tradition, Longines likes to take the inspiration for new models, and in particular for the watches in its Heritage collection, from those on display in its museum. And so for its latest creation, the Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph, the brand has replicated the lines of one of its pilot watch dating from the 1950s.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

The diameter of the original model, a magnificent 47.50 mm, has been reproduced, as well as the dial with its 24-hour scale, available in black or silver. The steel case has a closed back, decorated with Longines' famous hourglass symbol, in use since 1889 and the oldest logo still in active use in its original form in the international registers of the World Intellectual Property Organisation. Each watch in this exceptional series is numbered.

The model on which this new creation is based was fitted with a calibre originally intended for a pocket watch and later adapted for use in a wrist-watch. The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph houses an L789 self-winding, mechanical movement. This new column-wheel chronograph calibre, produced exclusively for Longines, is an adaptation of Longines' own single push-piece movement. It features a chronograph function, displays the time on a 24-hour scale, and has a small seconds at 18 o'clock plus a date aperture at 12 o'clock, at the bottom of the dial. It is fitted on a black or brown alligator strap to match the colour of the dial.

CHOPARD – L.U.C Lunar Big Date

CHOPARDL.U.C  Lunar BIG DATE NEW

A new design for a grand classic

What could be more inspiring than to stay in permanent touch with the Moon? With its portion of the night sky visible on the dial, the L.U.C Lunar Big Date is a vivid reminder of the enduring ties between our time and the sky above us.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...           BIG FOTO

First launched in 2009, the L.U.C Lunar Big Date now gets a whole new glow by adopting the full design codes of the new L.U.C aesthetic. The moon phase is so accurate that the difference between the true lunar cycle and the indication given by the timepiece amounts to just one day every 122 years.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...           BIG FOTO

The vision of the Moon seen from Earth changes in time with its rotation: its visible side may be completely lit up by the Sun (full Moon), entirely plunged into darkness (new Moon) or only partially illuminated (various moon phases). The interval between two identical moon phases – called a month or a syndical revolution – is equivalent to 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...           BIG FOTO

Achieving such accuracy in a wristwatch is an extremely complex feat to which Chopard Manufacture has risen with significant talent. The L.U.C Lunar Big Date is endowed with an extremely precise device in which the wheel driving the moon-bearing disc comprises 135 teeth.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...           BIG FOTO

The indication is so precise that the discrepancy between the mechanism and the real lunar cycle amounts to just one day in 122 years. The various moon phases are visible for both Northern and Southern hemispheres through a particularly large aperture ensuring easy readability. In addition, the Northern part of the disc features the Big Dipper constellation, while the Southern part displays the Southern Cross.

This exceptional timepiece will surely be the perfect match for every watch connoisseur, adding an elegant note to any business outfit, as well as a sophisticated and classy touch to a more casual suit on a romantic dinner under the moonlight with your beloved one.

JEANRICHARD – Chestnut colored 1681

JEANRICHARDChestnut colored 1681 Brown PVD NEW

A modern approach blended with tradition in autumn hues

A continual reinterpretation of the brand's rich heritage, the 1681 line demonstrates a high degree of creative boldness with a new model that is taking on a chestnut colored coating in PVD. A watch that is destined to be much appreciated by lovers of the warm autumn color shades – and ready for any adventures on and off the beaten paths.

Creative boldness is the autumn theme for JEANRICHARD, especially within this newly interpreted 1681 model. The brand's watchmakers demonstrate this through the technical features hidden under the vintage look of this chestnut colored timepiece. The PVD coating - short for the very resistant Physical Vapor Deposition method applied on this new timepiece - that is inspired by the automotive world as it is ultra-resistant to scratching and to temperature variations - can be applied with extreme precision thanks to the sophisticated modular design of the case.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...         BIG FOTO

Traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology are also merged in the JR1000 self-winding Manufacture movement with three hands and date indication. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour, it is designed and assembled in the JEANRICHARD workshops at La Chaux-de-Fonds. Equipped with an oscillating weight with a brand new decoration, this movement can be admired through the watch's sapphire crystal case-back.

The cushion-shaped case of the chestnut 1681 is wonderfully recognisable: the very essence of JEANRICHARD lies in the subtle combination of a traditional design and a contemporary spirit. Its ground-breaking structure - requiring 70 different operations, from stamping to final assembly - is distinguished by a series of superimposed elements, consolidated by two lateral bars secured by titanium screws. Its design is inspired both by features from the past and a look to the future.
The 1681 chestnut colored watch is marked out by its exceptional sobriety. Its hands and curves have been refined in relation to the other lines in the collection, its angles have been smoothed out and the chestnut treatment, applied to a surface that had been sandblasted beforehand, gives this watch a seasonal freshness that is at one and the same time remarkable and discreet. The matt dials play the card of harmony of colours (in black) or of contrasting colours (in beige), and propose a perfect match with the strap in brown or black rubber or black Barenia calfskin fitted with a folding buckle, also clad in chestnut.
Elegant and decisive, masculine and calm, the JEANRICHARD chestnut 1681 will accompany all Philosophers of Life on many adventures this autumn.

CVSTOS – CHALLENGE Chrono II Chronograph Power Reserve

CVSTOSCHALLENGE Chrono II CHRONOGRAPH Power Reserve NEW

Preciousness and performance, efficiency and elegance. The four tenets of the Cvstos manufacture provide a rigorous set of ethics that inform the brand’s bold signature aesthetic. Each timepiece is crafted in accordance with these principles, in a continual quest for the purest expression of contemporary watchmaking design. With its boutique size, Cvstos can remain ahead of trends, endowed with an agility that allows for a swift response to customer demands. As the tide now turns towards a more discreet aesthetic, Cvstos is delighted to present a new, more streamlined addition to its flagship Chronograph Challenge range: the Challenge Chrono II.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...             BIG FOTO

Many of the brand’s customers are active in the realm of high-performance sports, and a demand for immediate legibility of the dial, together with designer Antonio Terranova’s quest for the ultimate contemporary classical style, has fuelled the new-look flagship timepiece.
Retaining the same functionalities as CvstosChallenger Chronograph models, the Challenge Chrono II comprises a Cvstos 577 automatic chronograph movement and Cvstos Technology tungsten 88 rotor. Key design differences include a more rationalized dial and lighter construction, aided by a choice of tungsten and titanium materials.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...             BIG FOTO

The Challenge Chrono II offers optimal readability, thanks to new positioning of the chronograph counter subdials, yet which still provides visibility onto the elegant inner mechanics below. Thicker baton indexes and bolder counters in broad strokes of white SuperLuminova, bring extra clarity to the dial. Previous Arabic numerals have been removed to better accentuate the tachymeter reading, and ensure the hour display takes centre stage.

The date counter remains at 3 o’clock, whilst the neighboring 42-hour power reserve indicator is now emphasized in an accent color, for exquisitely precise reading.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...             BIG FOTO

For comfort and practicality, weight is effortlessly lifted from the timepiece through a bezel redesign, now featuring structured inserts, which lend dynamism and shear essential milligrams from the case structure. Similarly, the strap, in grooved rubber, enhances the timepiece’s sporting allure whilst offering a more lightweight interpretation of a full rubber strap. This rugged motif is echoed in the ridged, gripper push buttons – a new feature on the Challenge Chrono II.

Still with a barrel-shaped case and water resistance to 100 meters, the Challenge Chrono II is currently available in three variants: steel, titanium with pink 5N gold lateral elements, and a titanium all-black variant, with sporty red accents. Once again, Cvstos’ founders, Antonio Terranova and Sassoun Sirmakes are upholding their avant-garde status; by further refining their vision of the craft and distilling their particular brand of haute horology into the quintessential expression of technical elegance, Cvstos ushers in a new chapter of timekeeping design and excellence.

MIDO – MULTIFORT Chronograph Caliber 60

MIDOMULTIFORT Chronograph Caliber 60 NEW

Up to 60 hours power reserve for a timepiece equipped for every challenge

Innovation, accuracy and robustness are the hallmarks of the new Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 all-steel automatic timepiece, which is designed for the toughest sportsmen. Water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bars (200 m / 660 ft), this reliable and ultra-resistant watch ensures perfect readability, underwater and at night, thanks to the generous use of Super LumiNova® on the dial and the rotating flange. The Caliber 60, exclusive to the Swatch Group, boasts up to 60 hours of power reserve. Its anthracite dial, decorated with vertical Geneva stripes, recalls the suspension of Sydney Harbour Bridge, a construction that symbolises architectural modernity at the beginning of the 20th century.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...             BIG FOTO

Launched in 1934, two years after the Sydney Harbour Bridge was completed, the Multifort collection shares the structure’s remarkable qualities – a perfect blend of functionality and beauty. A truth that has stood the test of time, as this year Mido celebrates the 80th anniversary of Multifort production, making this one of the longest-produced series in the history of Swiss watchmaking.

The Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 marshals plenty of arguments to win over not only the toughest sportsmen but the most hardened divers. Built to rise to every challenge, its robust satinated, polished steel case houses a state-of-the-art chronograph movement, the Caliber 60, exclusive to the Swatch Group, boasting up to 60 hours of autonomy. This automatic movement was designed according to the exacting standards of Mido, who have developed a high-precision tool of proven reliability in the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60. Equipped with a rotating flange whose top right quarter is treated with orange Super LumiNova®, the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 is water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bars (200 m / 660 ft). Its broad 44 mm diameter and its indexes treated in Super LumiNova® ensure perfect readability of the time and diving time, whatever the conditions.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...             BIG FOTO

The five crowns and pushpieces on the case testify to the unique design and resolutely masculine character of the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60. The crown located at 3 o’clock is for setting the time and winding, while its counterpart at 8 o’clock facilitates the adjustment of the rotating flange. Two pushpieces at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock activate the chronograph functions, while the pushpiece at 10 o’clock enables the date to be rapidly corrected. These five pushpieces and crowns are screwed down in order to guarantee maximum security. The two counters are positioned at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock. The window at 6 o’clock indicates the date.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

The sleek elegance of the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 draws its inspiration from the powerful contours of the Sydney Harbour Bridge: the vertical Geneva stripes and dots that adorn the anthracite dial are a nod to the suspension and rivets of the famous structure. Several touches of orange recall Mido’s visual identity: on the two chronograph pushpieces, the rotating flange, the counter hand at 3 o’clock and finally the tip of the 60-second counter at the centre. The vertical satinated and nickel-plated hands are treated in white and orange Super LumiNova®, as are the indexes, ensuring maximum readability underwater and at night. In order to improve the readability still further, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, treated on both sides, protects the dial. Thanks to the transparent case back, enthusiasts of fine watchmaking can admire the elaborate automatic movement, decorated with blued screws, as well as the oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the engraved Mido logo. This model is equipped with a bracelet with folding clasp and a diving extension, in stainless steel.

Two versions of this model are available, each with a black rubber strap. The first boasts a steel case and a silver-toned dial. The second has a black PVD-treated steel case, with a black dial and touches of blue on the rotating flange and hands.
