 A name – a story

“KERBEDANZ” are timepieces whose uniqueness is dedicated to unique personalities. Its president and founder, Tigran Kerbedanz, chose the name "KERBEDANZ" in honor of his ancestor, who was a renowned blacksmith for his extreme ability to work metal. "KERBEDANZ" means , in effect, "the heirs of Karabed" , a term which has the double meaning of Leader and Forerunner, the origin of the surname Kerbedanz.

ROYAL LION – unique piece

A new unique piece for a MIP customer (Most Important Personality ) is born. Kerbedanz, on request of the client, engraved the symbolic figure of Lion, royal animal par excellence, on a dial 18K gold with diamonds. It shows a Lion, viewed from the front, with his mane deployed as a solar aura.

It is striking to note that a considerable number of nations, kingdoms or empires have, since ancient times and today, associated with Lion their emblem. This is understandable, considering that the Lion is the symbol not only of force and power, but also of resurrection, therefore, to a certain extent of eternal life. The many meanings that have been given to him by people over time have sent this image of great power, sparkling courage, nobility and honesty without precedent. Symbol of power, the lion is also that of justice: where lions of the throne of Salomon, the throne of the Kings of France, from that of the medieval bishops etc...

The Lion is truly the allegorical image of the Sun as regenerating Fire of Nature and its creatures. In alchemical symbolism Lion is the Sun, the Sulphur, the Stable, and the King.  The tourbillon mouvement

The Royal Lion watch is animated by an automatic tourbillon movement, the bridge supporting the cage was specially designed for KERBEDANZ. All components of this movement have been hand polished, chamfered and decorated in the purest respect of the Swiss watchmaking tradition. The tourbillon cage, which makes one revolution / minute, has an escapement that is “anchor side". The pallets, the escapement and the balance set to variable inertia; whose arrangement forms a triangle, reflects the real tourbillon in the spirit of the Swiss Haute Horlogerie.

This is how Kerbedanz was created as a perfect marriage of watch-making excellence, a unique philosophical concept and a highly creative visual design.
The name KERBEDANZ derives from the patronymic of the Brand’s founding President Tigran Karabedyan.
Paying a tribute to his ancestor, he gives to his company the name KERBEDANZ which means “the heirs of Karabed” (Karabed meaning Precursor/Leader), both qualifiers being perfectly adapted to KERBEDANZ which is a precursor with its concept of specific products’ value. By the way, Kerbedanz appears as a Leader regarding its very unique watch models - or very limited series - dedicated to a very exclusive clientele well known in their activities.

History

The ancestor of Tigran Karabedyan was a renowned goldsmith with wonderful skills to work the metal. He had acquired a great notoriety in the entire region where he exercised his art and was regularly sought to repair failing clocks as well. His fame is not only because of his competence. Indeed he was a good man, humble, generous, devoted to his family, and faithful to his friends. His highly professional skills and knowledge gave him not only a comfortable life but also the consideration and the respect of his surroundings.
Anxious to transfer the legacy of his ancestor and in the respect for the ethical values which had marked his life and works, Tigran Karabedyan decides to create his own watch brand and to locate it in Switzerland, in the city of Neuchâtel, the ancestral cradle of the Swiss watch industry.
The KERBEDANZ watches have a dual heritage: the know-how of the ancestral watchmaking and the ethic value cultivated by a man fair and straight, highly self-demanding in his professional commitment and in his life as well.
Through its product policy - concept, manufacturing and high quality finishing - the excellence of its network and overall the respect dedicated to its Clients, KERBEDANZ will fully reflect these ethical values.
