The campaign was shot by Mario Testino, featuring the beautiful British Gabriella Wilde, musician Rob Pryor and art dealer Harry Scrymgeour. The Radiomir Composite® 3 Days – 47mm (PAM00504) has a cushion case in brown Panerai Composite, surrounding a dial of the same colour. Featuring the classic alternation of linear markers and large figures at the cardinal points, this dial has the construction devised by Officine Panerai in the late 1930s to enhance readability even under very poor lighting conditions: two superimposed discs contain the luminous material, the light from which shines through the apertures in the upper one corresponding to the markers. Its quintessential design is enhanced by the small seconds dial at nine o’clock and by the inscription Radiomir Panerai.

Visible through the burnished sapphire crystal, the movement of the Radiomir Composite® Black Seal 3 Days Automatic is the P.9000, with a power reserve of 72 hours achieved by means of two spring barrels powered by an oscillating weight which winds in both directions. With a diameter of 13¾ lignes and a balance which oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz, the P.9000 calibre is also fitted with the stop-seconds device enabling the time to be set in synchronisation with the reference time signal.

His head up to the sky, George Graham had a great love for observing the Moon while creating his time machines. He spent lots of his time staring at the universe and finding many solution to his mechanical watch making dilemma. Friend of the astronomers, he worked on Sir Newton’s theories of gravitation to elaborate very precise mechanisms combining the magic of the sky and watch
making science. Over the years, the Moon has remained an object of curiosity which has greatly influenced life on Earth. It has helped to determine physical locations, to track time and more generally to develop mathematics and science. People switched from simply watching the time pass by, to the use of time as an inestimable travelling tool.

Geo.Graham The Moon is a history making celestial representation. Its name pays tribute to the GRAHAM tradition and heritage descending from George Graham who engraved his signature on each of his exclusive creations since 1695.
It is a truly unique watch that combines a flying tourbillon with a high-precision retrograde moonphase perpetual function, the cycle being calculated on the Moon’s exact synodic period for a duration of 122 years. At the end of each synodic period, the retrograde mechanism ensures that the Moon jumps back to the beginning of a new moon-phase cycle.

Constellations of diamonds

Big in appearance, our Moon only weights 0.07 grams and is hand-painted by local craftsmen in Le Locle. To avoid any damage on the lunar disc and attenuate the retrograde fall, a double absorber system has been developed exclusively for GRAHAM by Christophe Claret in Locle.

The synodic period equals 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.9 seconds which corresponds to 2’551’442.9 seconds. Once correctly set, this high-precision moon phase will only require adjustment once every 122 years by a single push on the corrector!

Scientists such as Isaac Newton or George Graham have made major discoveries as they realized that combining astronomy and time keeping would lead to remarkable advancement. The main difficulty of the watch lies in the delicate and complex flying Tourbillon. It challenges Newton’s law of gravitation and also pays tribute to his remarkable findings. The Geo.Graham tourbillon rotates on a ball bearing to substitute rolling for sliding friction.

Our movement is coated in blue and adorned with constellations of 45 diamonds (0.24 cts) (flange collar: 11 diamonds, dial: 34 diamonds) such as Camelopardalis, Perseus, Cassiopeia, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor and at the centre becoming the North Star’s position.

The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 was inspired by models developed during the 1930s that had to meet extremely stringent criteria from the point of view of appearance, quality and precision in order to be selected by aviators and bear the name “Type A-7” given by the U.S. Army. Their large diameter and fluted crown enabled them to be easily read and quickly manipulated, even if the pilot was wearing thick gloves. The angled black dial with its large white numerals also ensured easy reading in poor light or turbulence. The angle of the dial was specially designed for the chronograph to be worn on the inside of the wrist. This meant that the dial was aligned with the aircraft’s instruments and the pilot could read the timepiece without moving his or her arm or letting go of the controls.

 The racy elegance of The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 single push-piece chronograph immediately catches the eye. The steel case has a diameter of 49 mm and houses an L788 calibre, a column-wheel movement developed exclusively for Longines.

The various chronograph functions – start, stop and reset to zero – can all be operated by pressing the single push-piece set in the fluted crown. In imitation of the aviators’ timepieces, the dial is angled at 50° to the right and features large white Arabic numerals, all of which make up the exceptional character of this timepiece. Its sleek appearance is enhanced by the tachometer scale around the outer edge of the dial and the Breguet minute and hour hands. The whole is mounted on a black alligator strap. Furthermore, the intricate workings of this exceptional piece can be admired through the hinged cover on the sapphire glass back of The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7.

In 1952, Breitling already a firm fixture among aeronautical professionals decided to create a new “wrist instrument” specifically designed with aviators in mind. The result was the Navitimer with its famous circular slide rule providing simple and fast handling of all calculations relating to airborne navigation: an authentic wristworn instrument panel. In an era preceding the advent of electronic calculators, this model unique in its kind was soon adopted by many pilots for flight preparation and monitoring whether it came to calculating average speed, distance covered, fuel consumption or rates of ascent and descent.
