The Baroncelli Heritage is fitted with a latest-generation automatic movement and is protected by a polished rose PVD-treated steel case measuring 33 mm in diameter for the women’s model and 39 mm for the men’s model. Enthusiasts of fine watchmaking mechanics will endlessly admire the finely decorated automatic movement, which features blued screws and an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo, through the transparent case back.

The latter is protected by a sapphire crystal ensuring perfect readability. Water-resistant up to a pressure of 3 bars (30 m/100 ft), these two Baroncelli Heritage models are fitted with a semi-matt black genuine calf leather strap with crocodile look and a rose PVD-treated stainless steel pin buckle, which adds an extra touch of classicism.

Blancpain has re-interpreted one of its core timepieces, the three-hand model of the Fifty Fathoms
Bathyscaphe, outfitting it with a deep blue dial evoking the depths of the sea. Adding to its allure, the plasma gray ceramic bezel has been equipped with a blue ceramic insert featuring Liquidmetal ® hour-markers, an alloy serving to avoid distortions. The case highlights the technology involved in creating gray plasma ceramic, a production method that gives the color a subtle metallic shade. Plasma gray ceramic was used for the Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback Ocean Commitment that was launched in 2014.

The Blancpain Bathyscaphe diving models first appeared in the late 1950s in both men’s and women’s versions. To mark the anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms in 2013, the Bathyscaphe reappeared with a new aesthetic recalling the first versions. The crisp outlines are reminiscent of their predecessors, the hands feature the traditional look of vintage watches and the date appears through a small window. The presence of a luminous index located on the bezel, serving to enhance readability during dives, is faithful to the original version of the Bathyscaphe.

As with all diving watches worthy of the title, each model has been fitted with a unidirectional
bezel which can be rotated with defined clicks in a counter-clockwise direction. During dives, the
large seconds hand serves as an indicator that the watch is running. The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe
is water-resistant to 30 bar, equivalent to 300 meters. The self-winding caliber powering the Fifty
Fathoms Bathyscaphe is the famous 1315, distinguished by its sturdiness and its exceptional chrono-metric performance. Representing an authentic technological feat, its three series-coupled mainspringbarrels ensure a generous five-day power reserve while guaranteeing a constant supply of energy.

This movement is visible through the clear sapphire caseback which allows the owner to admire its modern and technical aspects. It is fitted with a balance-spring in silicon. The latter is an innovative material within the watch industry that features several key assets: low density that makes it particularly light, strong shock-resistance, as well as imperviousness to magnetic fields. These properties ensure the almost perfect geometry of the balance-spring, thereby improving the isochronism of the movement and hence the precision of the watch. Conceived for sports watches, the 1315 caliber is fitted with a robust glucydur balance wheel, with square-head gold micrometric regulating screws guaranteeing precision as well as efficient adjustment.

This timepiece is offered with two strap options: a three-ring NATO strap or a sail canvas version.

‘Scorn not the Masters, I bid you, and honour their art!’ This is a passage taken from the final address of Hans Sachs in the opera The Mastersingers of Nuremberg. We have now let them build together in a joint project, the masters of Uhren-Werke-Dresden (UWD), the masters of Sächsische Uhrentechnologie GmbH Glashütte (SUG) and our very own Sinn Spezialuhren masters. The result is no less than one would expect – an 18-carat rose gold watch featuring the newly designed hand-wound calibre UWD 33.1.

Its name: the 6200 Meisterbund I. One because further Meisterbund watches are set to follow. To mark the company’s 55th anniversary in 2016, we have produced just 55 of these limited-edition watches. This is documented by a stylish engraving on the case back. The side of the case facing the crown is embellished with the engraved ‘MEISTERBUND’ lettering.

High-quality hand-wound calibre UWD 33.1

UWD’s hand-wound calibre UWD 33.1 made of nickel silver with a spring barrel supported on one side, also referred as flying spring barrel, has a 55-hour power reserve. The movement can be adjusted by shifting the eccentric weights in the balance system. This also offsets the imbalance in the complete oscillating system of the watch. The regulator system, on the other hand, provides a convenient range of capabilities for further precision adjustment and beat setting. Also noteworthy is the fact that all parts of the movement have a high-quality finish. Plates and cocks are characterised by matte, diamond-planed edges.

In accordance with the functional principle of a swan-neck regulator, this regulator system enables zero-play precision adjustment of the watch. The six eccentric weights on the balance wheel for precisely balancing the balance system are also clearly visible.

The combination of matte and polished surfaces gives the movement an exquisite feel, while the diamond profiles underscore the high level of quality. The elegant case is made of 18-carat rose gold, while the dial itself features a guilloché design, is silverelectroplated and embellished with set appliqués.

The timepiece in question defies comparison, simply because to date, Sideralis does not have any equivalent anywhere in the world of watchmaking, and is protected by two patent applications. And over and above purely technical considerations, Sideralis makes an unequivocal statement: Louis Moinet is perhaps the last fully-independent firm to be investing in new components with the sole aim of inspiring awe among lovers of fine watches.

Sidereal – and staggering

Sideralis is structured around two especially extraordinary tourbillons:

Special feature number one

Both of these tourbillons are oversized, with cages measuring 14.9 mm – half as big again as the average. This is the largest assembly of two tourbillons ever to have existed. “Aside from our exacting chronometric standards, this approach adds a fascinating visual dimension to the watch; a touch of magic that we’ve decided to gift to lovers of fine watches, just so they can contemplate beauty and horological art in all its splendour,” explains Jean-Marie Schaller.

Special feature number two

The two tourbillons are designed to be physically above the movement – above the dial, even. The two raised cages are large as life and wholly visible, revealing balance wheels with beautifully styled screws – and an absolutely incomparable aesthetic appearance.

Special feature number three

The tourbillons rotate in opposite directions. The continuous coming and going, side by side, is not just for stylistic reasons; the counter-rotation provides the motive power required for the star mechanism – the Sideralis complication.

Now, tourbillons move the planets

For the first time ever, a complication is driven by a double tourbillon: a time dial, situated at 12 o’clock, comprising two discs, one atop the other. The top one features a tiny hand-painted picture. This hand-crafted marvel depicts the universe and its constellations of stars and planets, painted one by one on a dark blue sidereal background. The animation completes one counter-clockwise rotation every 60 seconds.

At 12 o’clock on this upper disc there is a circular opening, through which can be glimpsed the three planets painted on the lower disc, seen to be rotating in the opposite direction at the same speed. The feature represents a wholly new conceptual and artistic approach. 
Mars, Mercury and the Moon – physically present

Through the opening, the lower disc reveals the planet

Mars, the Moon, and Mercury in succession. “These three bodies have not been chosen at random,” says Jean-Marie Schaller. “Each of the micro-paintings includes genuine dust from the heavenly body in question: a fragment of Mars, moon dust, and extremely rare fragments of the Rosetta Stone, whose scientific name is Sahara 99555. This stone has travelled across the universe to reach us: it’s the oldest known to mankind, believed by the scientific community to have come from Mercury and to be four and half billion years old. Fragments of meteorites from Mars, the Moon and Sahara 99555 also appear on the lower disc, positioned between the planets, floating in the cosmos, or included in a hand-painted shooting star.”

The inverted double tourbillon, powering an exclusive complication, is an unprecedented innovation, with two patents pending to protect it. The Sideralis caliber is also fully exclusive to Louis Moinet, mounted on a hand-painted aventurine dial that matches the universe depicted on the time disc.
