KUDOKE – HANDwerk INFINITI Edition

KUDOKEHANDwerk INFINITI Goldstone Aventurine Dial Steel 39 mm Special Edition 2024

The exclusive special edition KUDOKE ∞ is equipped with a dial made of blue Goldstone and a hand-guilloched movement bridge, which literally demonstrate the infinite possibilities of the art of watchmaking.

The Goldstone dial, also known as aventurine glass, catches the light in a fascinating way and creates a sparkling interplay that catches the eye. Goldstone, a glass interspersed with fine copper particles, gives the dial a unique shine and a profound texture reminiscent of the mysteries of the universe.

However, the centerpiece of this extraordinary watch is the hand-guilloched movement bridge. The finest lines adorn the white rhodium-plated bridge and form a pattern that, starting from the frosted balance cock, is reminiscent of a shining star. Every detail, from the intricate lines to the complex patterns, is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship and reflects the dedication to perfection for which Kudoke is renowned.

The shape of the hands of the "KUDOKE " also picks up on the theme of infinity. As with the existing models in the HANDwerk collection, the hands are designed in the shape of infinity signs, making the watch a truly harmonious work of art.

"The "KUDOKE ∞" is not just a timepiece, but a symbol of eternity and infinity. Each watch is unique and an expression of individuality and style," said founder and master watchmaker Stefan Kudoke. "This watch embodies the essence of Kudoke: aesthetics, craftsmanship and timeless elegance."

Due to the time-intensive handcrafted production, "KUDOKE ∞" will be available as a special edition with an annual production of only 12 pieces.

Stefan Kudoke

„More than 15 years ago, I said to my wife, 'I have a crazy idea: I will manufacture my own wat-ches!'“ At that time, Stefan Kudoke was a student who already had finished his master-watchmaker's degree and had worked at renowned brands like Glashütte Original, Breguet, and Blancpain be-fore.

With the founding of his eponymous brand in 2008, Stefan pursued his dream full-time and made a name for himself as a creator of exceptionally artistic hand-skeletonized and hand-engraved timepieces among his KUNSTwerk collection. Of the emergence of his second collection, the HANDwerk line, Stefan explained, "After more than 10 years, I refined my skeletonizing skills to their utmost, and I found myself in a position where I wanted to develop my watchmaking skills further. To use old techniques and keep the practical know-how of traditional watchmaking alive has always been very important to me." And he brought this to fruition with the first two models of his new collection: KUDOKE 1 & 2.

With his first own movement, Stefan has fulfilled his dream. Valuable lessons were drawn from the old masters, specifically those of the German-English traditional handcraft of precision watchma-king. "During the development of the Kaliber 1, I was inspired by the design of historical English pocket watches whose use of forms I incorporated into my movement. Ages ago I bought an old English pocket watch movement that lay unused in a drawer for a long time. One day it fell into my hands again, just as the idea of Kaliber 1 began to take shape."

As with his skeleton models, Stefan Kudoke sets great value upon the refinement of the watch components by hand. Be it the polishing of edges at bridges or steel parts, the engravings or the surface treatment of the wheel bridge using a special grinding technology – all steps during the finishing process are carried out by hand exclusively. This is how handcrafted pieces of art are created - in small volumes and with great care and attention to detail.

 The original case design revisited

Thirty-five years after the brand was first founded, DANIEL ROTH is once again making its debut, and once again with a tourbillon.

Paying homage to the original design of 1988, the Tourbillon Souscription encapsulates the values of the DANIEL ROTH brand that have remained unchanged over the decades.

The brand’s approach is just as it was in 1988 - tapping on the skills of the finest watchmakers, constructors, and specialist suppliers to create artisanal timepieces.

A small team of talented craftsmen and women at La Fabrique du Temps will continue the DANIEL ROTH legacy, holding fast to the brand’s mantra since its foundation: La Montre Objet d’Art.

Executed in traditional yellow gold, a metal exclusive to this edition, the case of the Tourbillon Souscription is naturally a double ellipse.

To maximise the elegance of the Tourbillon Souscription, it has only a single face on the front, resulting in a case that is a mere 9.2 mm high.

The double-ellipse case retains the proportions of the original, but with subtle refinements. The lugs are still carefully soldered by hand to the case middle, but they have been slightly reshaped to create an elegant downward arch, improving the ergonomics of the iconic case.

Like the case, the dial is a tribute to the brand’s history, but gently refined. Formed from a plate of solid yellow gold, the dial is decorated with Clous de Paris guilloche just as the original was.

In a nod to contemporary independent watchmaking – an industry made possible by DANIEL ROTH’s pioneering approach - the dial is produced in the mountain-top workshop of Kari Voutilainen, one of the leading independent watchmakers of today.

Although the dial retains the same markings as on the original, the typography has been streamlined to give it contemporary finesse.

Under the dial is the in-house manufacture calibre DR001 conceived exclusively for DANIEL ROTH

The DR001 is manufactured entirely by La Fabrique du Temps, the Geneva workshop founded by Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini – both master watchmakers who will personally oversee the creation of each DANIEL ROTH timepiece.

The revived DANIEL ROTH Maison continues this legacy, with the new Tourbillon Souscription model showcasing refinements in design and mechanics, including an in-house calibre and a solid gold guilloche dial.

Despite modern enhancements, the watch retains the classic double ellipse case with improved ergonomics and a slimmer profile.

The prototype of this iconic model was revealed at LVMH Watch Week in January 2024, and the limited 20-piece collection is set to be delivered in the first half of 2024.
