The legacy of a vineyard to the wrist

ID Genève collaborated with the company MONDIN for the launch of its first variety of Nisiar. This alliance materializes in the creation of a limited edition of their Circular 1 Grenat model of 40 pieces.

"Nisiar was born out of our desire to rethink how we use natural resources. Today, we are thrilled to present a material that combines aesthetics, performance, and eco-responsibility," explains Rodolphe Mondin, co-founder of Nisiar.

This material stands out for its lack of textile support, giving it resistance and durability equivalent to animal leather, with a composition of 75% natural materials. Making one square meter of Nisiar requires about 1kg of raw grape marc.

Each variety of Nisiar is associated with a specific grape marc, giving it a unique colour and texture.

The N-07 variety ID Genève uses comes from the wine residue of Château de Beaucastel, owned by the Perrin Family, partners, and investors in Mondin.

Its uniqueness lies in its natural brown hue derived from the tannins of 13 grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.

This unique Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light” is a tribute to Swedish pole vault legend Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. The Olympic Games champion wore the timepiece when he claimed gold and set a new World Record at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, clearing the bar at 6.25m.

Crafted from sand-blasted Gamma Titanium, the 41 mm case is accompanied by a sand-blasted silicon nitride bezel ring.

For the blue anodized dial, OMEGA has used sand-blasted Grade 5 titanium, and included an engraved horizontal stripe pattern.

Alongside the blackened indexes and hour-minute hands with Super-LumiNova, there is also a yellow varnished 3D laser-shaped cylindrical central seconds hand inspired by a Pole Vault.

The watch is presented on a blue and yellow integrated strap made from rubber and nylon fabric. Behind the sapphire crystal caseback, you’ll find the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8928 Ti – guaranteeing the industry’s highest standard of precision, performance, and magnetic-resistance. The entire watch is delivered inside a special presentation box.

All the bridges and plates are in ceramicized titanium which, according to Omega, means “there’s less friction between the components.” Given the uncompromising use of low-friction, synthetic jewels for every important, high-friction fitting inside modern wristwatch movements, I am not sure at what point do the ceramicized titanium plates make a difference in reducing friction.

On the upside of things, the Omega Caliber 8928 Titanium is a Master Chronometer, meaning it can resist magnetic fields as strong as 15,000 Gauss — and, of course, it comes with a co-axial escapement. Omega designed Caliber 8928 without an automatic winding system, most certainly to further reduce overall weight and heft.
