After all, the first timepieces by the company's founder were mechanical airplane cockpit clocks for professional use. Model 103 St Sa is equipped with a high-domed, scratch-resistance sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides and has a transparent back made of sapphire crystal glass.

The new Panerai Submersible Chrono – Guillaume Néry edition is a combination of performance, strength and reliability worthy of the remarkable champion who has inspired this amazing new creation of mechanical engineering. Guillaume Néry was twice a world champion and he broke four constant weight free-diving world records.

This former professional athlete is now an ambassador of the sea, turning his astonishing underwater experiences into images and videos which amaze everyone who sees them. In his honour, Panerai has created a new watch combining technical performance and a remarkably powerful, sporty appearance.

The Panerai Submersible Chrono – Guillaume Néry edition is above all a professional diver’s watch, water-resistant to a depth of about 300 metres (30 bar) and fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, which accurately displays the duration of the dive.

The dial is clearly legible under all lighting conditions and in complete darkness, thanks to the luminous white markers, which stand out strongly against the shark grey, textured background.

Engraved on the screw back are the champion’s signature and the depths of his final awe-inspiring record: 126 metres, achieved with a single breath.

It is also a precision chronograph, with fly-back function and the device for zeroing the seconds hand to enable perfect synchronisation with a reference signal. The Panerai Submersible Chrono – Guillaume Néry edition is fitted with a P.9100 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days.

P.9100 calibre is 13¾ lignes it has 37 jewels and consists of 302 components.  The two spring barrels in series give a power reserve of 72 hours. The choice of the double spring barrel enables thinner, longer springs to be used, which is beneficial for the duration and evenness of the supply of energy. The automatic winding is carried out by a bidirectional rotor on ball-bearings operating two narrow arms terminating with hooks, which wind the springs of the barrels with every movement of the rotor itself.

Supported by a single bridge with a KIF Parechoc® anti-shock device, the Glucydur® balance wheel oscillates at 28,800 vibrations/hour (equivalent to 4hz)and it is the variable inertia type, with the regulation carried out by adjusting four square-headed screws fitted in the outer perimeter of the balance wheel; the spring is therefore free, without the curb pins which can be a source of irregular timekeeping.
