MIDOBARONCELLI Mechanical Limited Edition

Exclusive, elegant and superlatively slim

At less than 7 mm thick, Mido presents its slimmest mechanical watch to date: the new Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition. Featuring a radiant combination of black lacquer and a polished rose gold-coloured PVD treatment, this streamlined, ethereal interpretation perfectly reflects the brand’s classic watch heritage.

Its exclusivity lies in the limited-edition release of just 2,020 numbered timepieces. Its elegance, meanwhile, resides in its small seconds display at 6 o'clock. The design and the hand-wound mechanical movement, evoking pure watchmaking tradition, will delight the most refined connoisseurs.

Neoclassical aesthetics

Its rounded architecture echoes the curves of musical notes: the Rennes Opera House stands out both for its rich programme of performances and for the harmony of its neoclassical construction.

From the top of its façade, statues of the Muses of Antiquity symbolically watch over the arts. Emblematic of Mido’s watchmaking expertise, the Baroncelli collection, created in 1976, celebrates the timeless beauty of this building.

A choice informed by elegance

Dedicated to fine watchmaking enthusiasts, the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition perfectly represents Mido and its history, which has been marked by numerous creations with timeless designs.

For the dial, Mido has chosen the deep black of polished lacquer. Diamond-cut hands and indexes with a rose gold-coloured PVD treatment stand out against this glossy background, while a small seconds aperture complete with central seconds hand is positioned at 6 o'clock.

The Mido Mechanical signature and the Limited Edition” inscription at 3 o'clock highlight the rarity of each timepiece in this exclusive series, as does the individual number engraved on the case back.

Slim and sophisticated mechanics

Since its foundation in 1918, Mido has been renowned for the high-quality mechanical movements equipping its watches. Driven by a hand-wound calibre, the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition evokes one of the most symbolic gestures in mechanical watchmaking: winding the movement using the crown. This calibre, which is approximately 2.5 mm thick, makes the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition the slimmest mechanical timepiece to be offered by the brand.

In keeping with tradition, Geneva stripes adorn the components, which are visible through a sapphire crystal case back. Making a beautiful statement on the wrist with its luxurious colour contrasts, the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition features a remarkably slim polished steel case with rose gold-coloured PVD treatment (less than 7 mm thick).

The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective treatment on both sides to ensure excellent dial legibility. As elegant as it is perfect for everyday use, the watch is water-resistant up to a pressure of 3 bar (30 m/100 ft).

This refined timepiece has been paired with a black semi-matt crocodile-look leather strap and a folding clasp, providing an additional sophisticated detail that is inherent to fine watchmaking. Each watch in this numbered series of 2,020 timepieces is presented in a special case with an individual limited edition certificate.

With the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition, Mido offers its slimmest mechanical timepiece to date, a pure expression of its classic watch heritage.

MIDO – MULTIFORT Datometer Edition

MIDOMULTIFORT Datometer 40mm Limited Edition

A piece of history on your wrist

Mido is bringing the past into the present with the new Multifort Datometer. The brand is celebrating its 100th anniversary by revisiting one of its flagship models, first launched in 1939. The 2018 version borrows the original’s essential features while bringing it firmly up to date. Endowed with a superb polished and satin-finished steel case with rose PVD treatment, the Multifort Datometer reveals a silvered, finely sandblasted dial, decorated with black transfers, recreating the 1939 design almost identically. The characteristic detail of this rare and timeless model is the date, indicated by a hand with a red varnished tip. Beneath its vintage exterior, this timepiece houses an automatic movement with exclusive date indicator based on its Caliber 80, which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve. Produced as a limited edition of 1,918 pieces to echo the year in which Mido was founded, the Multifort Datometer will win over anyone looking to wear a piece of watchmaking history on their wrist.

Launched in 1934, two years after the Sydney Harbour Bridge was completed, the Multifort collection shares some of the structure’s remarkable characteristics – a perfect blend of functionality and beauty. A truth that has stood the test of time, as Mido celebrated the 80th anniversary of Multifort production in 2014, making this emblematic collection one of the longest-produced series in the history of Swiss watchmaking.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Mido is revisiting some of its iconic models and bringing them up to date. A timepiece with an assertive masculine character, the 2018 version of the Multifort Datometer takes inspiration from the eponymous model launched in 1939.

It adopts most of the aesthetic codes responsible for its original success while making it a truly modern creation. Its polished and satin-finished steel case with rose PVD treatment has been enlarged to give a diameter of 40 mm. A box sapphire crystal enables the wearer to admire its magnificent dial, almost identical to that of the 1939 model. Silvered and finely sandblasted, it is decorated with black transfers. But it is unquestionably the date display that gives the Multifort Datometer its unique character: this is indicated by a 5N rose hand with a red varnished tip. The indexes and the faceted hour and minute hands are in rose PVD. Meanwhile the seconds hand features shiny black varnish. Several dots of black Super-LumiNova® on the numerals and the hour and minute hands ensure perfect legibility at night.

Beneath its vintage exterior, the Multifort Datometer houses the best technology currently available. Exclusively created for Mido, the Caliber 80 is a next-generation automatic movement which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve. Its transparent case back enables this finely decorated sophisticated movement to be admired, with its oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo. The Multifort Datometer is fitted with a brown natural-looking genuine leather strap with a rose PVD-treated stainless steel pin buckle. It is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m /165 ft).

MIDO – COMMANDER Chronometer BIG DATE Anniversary

MIDO COMMANDER II Chronometer BIG DATE Automatic 100th Anniversary 2018

A series of exceptional timepieces
to celebrate a BIG DATE

On 11 November 1918, Georges Schaeren founded Mido on the same day as the armistice. Since its creation, Mido has looked towards the future with confidence, sustained by the visionary strength of its founder. In 2018, the brand is marking its 100th anniversary by celebrating the values that have formed its DNA for a century: timeless design, quality materials and technical innovation.

To open the celebration of its 100th anniversary, Mido is launching the Commander Big Date: a series of innovative models presenting a large date aperture at 6 o’clock. For these models, Mido has developed an exclusive movement with a large date aperture based on its Caliber 80.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Offering unrivalled date legibility, this new line adopts the codes that have given the Commander its legendary status: a sunray satin-finished dial that is extremely pure, protected by an elegant round case in satin-finished stainless steel and enhanced by a polished bezel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Its slender, round case in satin-finished steel endows the Commander collection with an inimitable and immediately recognisable silhouette, just like the Eiffel Tower. And like this unique structure, it has withstood the effects of time to retain an eternally youthful aspect.

Its exceptional longevity offers indisputable proof of its success – the Commander has been produced by Mido without interruption since 1959. It has thus spanned more than five decades, preserving the DNA that has forged its reputation. Much like Paris’s symbolic monument, the Commander has become a genuine icon, epitomising Swiss watchmaking tradition and expertise.

To inaugurate its 100th anniversary celebrations and pay homage to the visionary spirit of its founder, Georges Schaeren, Mido is launching the Commander Big Date – a unique timepiece designed to commemorate an exceptional date.

The new models joining this iconic collection feature a large polished and sandblasted date aperture located at 6 o’clock – one of the largest on the market in this price segment. They are fitted with the Caliber 80 with large date aperture, an exclusive automatic movement developed by Mido to mark this anniversary.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Commander Big Date therefore offers a generous date display while adopting the aesthetic codes that have made the Commander collection such a success. Their extremely pure sunray satin-finished dials – in anthracite or silver depending on the model – are revealed by a faceted and domed sapphire crystal. The indexes are coated with white Super-LumiNova®, as are the diamond-cut hour and minute hands, offering perfect night-time readability.

These superb dials are protected by a round 42 mm-diameter case in satin-finished stainless steel, enhanced by a polished bezel. Delicate touches of rose PVD on the bezel, crown and bracelet give the two-tone model great refinement.

Meanwhile the model with an anthracite dial has a stainless steel bracelet that reinforces its sporty character. Both bracelets are fitted with a stainless steel folding clasp with an extremely thin fastener to provide the wearer with maximum comfort.

Beyond its aesthetic assets, the Commander Big Date celebrates a large date while housing an exclusive automatic movement. In addition to its original date display, the Caliber 80 with large date aperture offers formidable autonomy: up to 80 hours of power reserve.

Finely decorated with an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo, it can be admired through the transparent case back. The Commander Big Date is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m / 165 ft).

This new line of four models will be launched on 1 January 2018 and will kick off the festivities marking Mido’s 100th anniversary, which will continue throughout the year.
