Cuervo y Sobrinos unveils the new Historiador Flameante as Baselworld 2013 Preview

The new Historiador Flameante is a contemporary reworking of an exquisite design that showcases a disciplined harmony that demonstrates the brand’s craftsmanship and technical skills. The name of the watch derives from the unique workmanship on the dial, a prized and exclusive “flame” effect (“flameante”, in Spanish).
The ultra-thin (only 2.5 mm) manually wound movement with second hands is housed in a pink gold case that is perfectly proportioned (40 mm in diameter, 6.2 thick).

Glimpsed from its sapphire crystal caseback you can admire the careful detailing: the Côtes de Genève pattern on the movement plate, the anthracite-treated balance bridge, the azure-coated screws. The words “Testimony of style since 1882” engraved around the movement emphasize the exquisite taste that has always distinguished Cuervo y Sobrinos styling. Completing the look is a premium Louisiana alligator strap.
With its great technical and aesthetic refinement the Historiador Flameante will certainly delight aficionados of fine mechanical watches.

Imagine Cuba, pearl of the Caribbean, in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The first democratic constitution had come into force. The country had recently gained international recognition as a member of the United Nations. President Batista came and went and came again, helped by the United States which had an iron grip on the island's mining, agriculture and public services.

Americans fleeing Prohibition had already flocked to the island at the turn of the century. Fifty years later they would once again be seduced by Havana, now a hub of corruption, gambling and trafficking of every possible kind.

Artists, intellectuals, scientists and movie stars were also lured by this underground atmosphere.

Cuban music, with undertones of American jazz, had taken over the airwaves. Meanwhile, fans turned out in droves at the Tropicana nightclub in Havana, where Guillermo Barreto worked his magic alongside the likes of Nat King Cole and Tommy Dorsey.

The Torpedo line takes its name from the classic Havana cigars, one of the most well-known due to its discreet and balanced line.
The elegant form of the Torpedo, combined with high technological performance, makes this watch an emblem of the Cuervo y Sobrinos collection. The case stands out given its round, bored and bevelled shape with its characteristics horn, all of which rendering it a model with a charisma all its own, very much appreciated by those loving classical models having a strong identity.
The model is expressed in various versions, steel and gold, with diamonds and a special range dedicated to the historical Tour de Espana automobile races.

The Churchill watch belongs to the Robusto’s family, rugged and sophisticated this is an extremely functional watch with an innovative modular case. This case is designed with an incomparable complexity, its construction is highly sophisticated, incorporating two lateral segments in Titanium, adjusting perfectly to the horns, with a brushed finishing.
The exclusive and unreleased crown system is made with a “key” almost integrated in the case with a stronger protection compared to a classic crown. The ivory dial is decorated with “craquelé” effect to enhance the uniqueness of the brand associated with its Cuban origins. The double curved sapphire crystal of the back case gives to the watch a fascinating touch of vintage style with Winston Churchill’s profile engraved.
The Churchill has been produced in a limited edition of only 200 pieces worldwide – all numbers are imprinted on the dial. The automatic movement has a power reserve of 38 hours.
