BREGUET – CLASSIQUE 7327 Quantieme Perpetuel Gold

BREGUET CLASSIQUE Quantième Perpétuel 7327 Moon Phase Gold Automatic 2023

New Classique 7327
Contemporary elegance

In the 1780s, Abraham-Louis Breguet enjoyed great success with his so-called perpétuelle watches equipped with an à secousses (moving) oscillating weight enabling the calibre to react to the wearer's body movements and thus automatically wind the mechanism as they walked. These watches often incorporated a calendar mechanism and it was also on these models that Breguet experimented with his first guilloché silvered dials.

In 2023, Breguet pays tribute to it within its Classique collection through a reinterpretation of the perpetual calendar in two gold colours.

The new Quantième Perpétuel 7327 by Breguet reflects the very essence of the brand: a timepiece that is simple to use for its wearer yet complex in its realisation. This fascinating watchmaking function born in the 18th century displays the exact date, taking into account the variable length of the months and the leap-year cycle. To accomplish this feat, the movement must have a four-year mechanical "memory" corresponding to 1,461 days.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The mechanism is based on a gearing system from the hour’s wheel and a large central lever that drives the entire movement on a daily basis. For this reason, no less than 294 components are required to bring this model to life. One of Breguet's key objectives was to offer a light and comfortable timepiece and the Manufacture has thus opted for Calibre 502 with an additional calendar mechanism.

At just 4.5 mm thick, the 502.3.P movement remains one of Breguet's thinnest. It is designed to provide a high level of performance despite its thinness. Its barrel is open, contributing to its slenderness while guaranteeing constant, powerful energy. Its gold oscillating weight is off-centred to provide maximum space for the movement's main components, enabling it to be integrated to a minimum thickness.

This self-winding movement is rhodium-plated, beats at a frequency of 3 Hertz and has a 45-hour power reserve. It is equipped with a flat silicon balance-spring and an inverted straight-line escapement with silicon horns. Silicon has many properties, in addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the watch’s precision.

Its movement, which can be admired through the sapphire case back, highlights a skill dear to Breguet: decoration. The gold oscillating weight is hand-engraved on a rose engine with a circular barleycorn motif, the bridges are adorned with Côtes de Genève, and the other components are finished with chamfered edges and likewise with Côtes de Genève. This highly precise craftsmanship is performed by the artisans in the Manufacture located in the heart of the Vallée de Joux.

A timepiece with an understated design

As fascinating on the movement side as on the dial, the new creation by Breguet features a timeless aesthetic, recalling the brand's distinctive features in a contemporary spirit. The dial is adorned with a Clous de Paris hobnail pattern.

Located between 1 and 2 o’clock, the moon phase has been designed to provide a strong sense of realism, notably thanks to its hand-hammered surface. Its sky is coated with a blue lacquer composed of spangles subtly revealing the stars depending on how the timepiece is turned.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO  The day, date and year indicators are harmoniously entwined at the base of the dial. A quarter-circle bewteen 10 and 11 o’clock indicates the months via a retrograde hand. The hours and minutes are indicated by the traditional eccentric “moon” tip watch hands in blued steel. The secret Breguet signature, created by the founder in 1795, appears between 11 and 12 o'clock as well as between 12 and 1 o'clock.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO  Finally, adjustments of the various dial indications are completed from several positions on the 39 mm case. A corrector stylus serves to adjust the day at 4 o'clock; the different moon phases between 4 and 5 o'clock, the date at 6 o'clock and finally the month and the year at 9 o'clock. The time is set via the crown located at 3 o'clock.

The Classique collection

Both functional and emblematic, the Classique collection faithfully illustrates the aesthetic codes dating back to the brand's origins. In addition to his talent as a watchmaker and inventor, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also one of the first designers well before the term was coined. When the company was founded in Paris in 1775, the baroque style was in vogue. He invented and introduced the neoclassical style to watchmaking.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This aesthetic vision gave the dials an avant-garde look while making it easier to read the indications. He created the eccentric “moon” tip watch hands, the guilloché pattern and the off-centre dial, to name but a few.

The latter design was used on pocket watches from 1812 onwards and established the brand's DNA. Inspired by these creations, the 5327 Quantième Perpétuel joined the line-up in 2004. Its 2023 version is a contemporary embodiment while remaining faithful to the powerful signatures of the Classique line. Available in 18K white or rose gold, this new timepiece is paired with a midnight blue strap for the white gold model and a mysterious brown strap for the rose gold version.

Classique Phase de Lune 9085
Valentine’s Day Edition

Breguet pays tribute to love with the new Classique Phase de Lune whose dial, daintily adorned with white mother-of-pearl and is sprinkled with rubies. The watch comes in a presentation box containing both red and an additional pearly white strap that are easily interchangeable as the wearer desires.

The poetic and elegant Classique Phase de Lune 9085 Valentine's Day Edition gracefully celebrates the feast of lovers. Breguet numerals alternate with six rubies to display the passing of time on the dial, swept over by two traditional open-tipped blued steel hands, a signature of the House.

The mother-of-pearl dial is adorned with a very fine guilloché pattern, hand-crafted by the artisans of the Manufacture.

The hand-hammered gold moon phase appears at 6 o'clock, surrounded by a midnight blue lacquered sky dotted with gold stars. The Breguet inscription appears in an oval cartouche at 12 o'clock. Finally, the 30 mm white gold case and lugs are set with 66 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Just as with the recently unveiled Classique 8068 model, this watch comes with an interchangeable strap system. Designed for easy tool- free switching between straps, this mechanism is operated by simply pressing the pusher on the underside of the wristband, enabling the wearer to move seamlessly from one style to another in the blink of an eye.

The movement

The new Classique 9085BB is powered by Calibre 537L with its 231 components. Its gold oscillating weight is hand-engraved on a rose engine with a circular barleycorn pattern. Its balance oscillates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz.

The rhodium-plated self-winding movement has a 45-hour power reserve. It is equipped with an in-line Swiss lever escapement and a balance spring in silicon, a material endowed with numerous properties. In addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the accuracy of the timepiece.

One of Breguet’s most cherished skills can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback, with decorations such as chamfering and a Côtes de Genève motif embellishing the various movement components. The case is water-resistant to 3 bar (30 m).

The Classique collection

With its lines featuring a blend of purity and refinement, the Classique collection faithfully illustrates the powerful aestheticism of the brand's origins. Above and beyond his talent as a watchmaker and inventor, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also one of the first designers.

When he founded the brandin Paris in 1775, the baroque style was in fashion. He invented and initiated the neoclassical style in watchmaking – an aesthetic vision that gave the dials an avant-garde look while making it easier to read the indications. He created a range of stylish innovations including open-tipped hands, the guilloché motif and the off-centre dial.

The latter was first used on pocket watches in 1812 and established the brand's DNA. Inspired by these creations, the first interpretation of the Classique 8068 wristwatch was introduced in 2003. In 2016, Breguet enriched the collection with the Classique Phase de Lune 9088 model.

BREGUET – CLASSIQUE 9075 – 2023 Chinese New Year Edition

BREGUETCLASSIQUE 9075 – CNY 2023 Chinese New Year Rose Gold 40mm Edition

9075 - Classique
2023, a tribute to the power
of the
Rabbit

On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, Breguet is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit with an 8 pieces limited edition timepiece dedicated to women. This watch, from the Classique collection, showcases a combination of in-house artisanal techniques: the enamel and engraving expertise. The timepiece is an artistic interpretation adorned with 6 rabbits whose beauty gently manifests women’s sense of smartness and nimbleness.

Rabbit” represents well wishes in China. It is one of the Chinese zodiac signs which is closely associated with symbols of playfulness and smartness.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Breguet has drawn inspiration from the qualities of the rabbits and the manufacture's artisans have combined it with sophisticated enamel craftsmanship and hand-engraving techniques which bring to life this lively, free spirited creature in a new timepiece in the Classique Collection.

The artistic dial

Vividly and exquisitely, the dial depicts a dynamic scene in which 6 rabbits are playing around the greens against the backdrop of fluffy clouds. All the patterns are hand-engraved on an 18-carat white gold dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

While the central motif is engraved below the surface of the enamel, rabbits are engraved on the enamel and outlined at a maximum height. The engraving of gold applied in watchmaking is a bas-relief technique consisting in sculpting patterns in the extremely small dimensions of a watch. After sketching designs, the craftsman performs his demanding work using different engraving tools like chisels, while observing the component under the microscope. This is the most delicate step in the process of creation. This is followed by the cleaning and polishing of the work, which reveals its full splendor.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Beyond providing decoration to the dial, enamel work is a particularly specialised craft, one requiring rigor, patience, and technical mastery. Only after careful preparation, the enamel is then applied on the dial in several layers and placed in an oven at 800℃ . The translucent enamel and the opaque white enamel need to be applied in successive layers. The combination of 2 glazes at the same time increases the difficulty because imperfections must be avoided and each color must remain homogeneous.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Therefore, the enameller needs to master the knowledge of painting and colours of the enamel after firing, as well as how each colour changes at different temperatures so as to control the application and firing of successive layers and ensure none of the firings disturbing the layer are applied.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Finally, the dial must remain at a well-defined final thickness, securing a delicate stage of sizing as well as height and aesthetic finishing of the dial. Nowadays, only a handful of Swiss artisans master this craft. The Manufacture Breguet is fortunate to count on this expertise within its manufacture, located in the Vallée de Joux.

The movement

The 9075 model combines traditional Haute Horlogerie refinement with aesthetic elegance. At its heart beats the hand-decorated self-winding 591C calibre. The movement is equipped with a silicon in-line Swiss lever escapement and a silicon flat balance spring. This movement, equipped with 171 components, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a 38-hour power reserve. The case resistance is 3 bar (30m).

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

As in Breguet tradition, the components of the caliber are all finished by hand, by the craftsmen of the Manufacture. The timepiece can also be admired from the back with its gold oscillating weight, delicately decorated with barleycorn patterns guilloche work.

Breguet know-how

At Breguet, artistic crafts are not merely a means of enhancing watchmaking mechanics. They are part of the DNA of the House, which has since 1775 consistently devoted equal importance to aesthetics, technique and innovation on the same level.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Notably with Guillochage, which is a heritage that Breguet has done more than merely preserve: some 30 guilloché lathes have been rebuilt within the Manufacture itself. While similar to the antique machines, they are endowed with the latest ergonomic, lighting, optical and precision equipments.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The workshop thus is one of the most important in the entire watchmaking industry and its artisans are capable of executing a wide range of geometric patterns. With a view of constant development a research and creative department, notably responsible for developing new motifs, has been specially dedicated to this art form.

Breguet – CLASSIQUE Calendrier 7337 Moon Phase

BREGUET CLASSIQUE Calendrier 7337 Moon Phase Gold Automatic 2022

New Classique 7337
Contemporary elegance

An emblematic timepiece of the Classique Collection, the new Classique 7337 Calendar features a modern style while retaining the strong codes that have forged the brand's history.

Classique Calendar 7337, available in white and rose gold joins the current Breguet collection.

The importance of details

This elegant, subtle and pure new interpretation by Breguet is resolutely contemporary without compromising its aesthetic origins. The brand’s various decorative skills are indeed present throughout the watch. Its off-centred dial is adorned with a very fine Clous de Paris hobnail guilloché pattern hand-engraved on a rose engine by the in-house artisans. The outer dial features a circular barleycorn motif. The moon phase at 12 o’clock is designed to provide powerful realism.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The gold moon is hand-hammered and the clouds surrounding it have been given a fine sandblasted treatment with a matt texture. Its sky is coated with a blue lacquer composed of spangles subtly revealing the stars depending on the angle from which the timepiece is viewed. The hours, minutes and seconds are indicated by the traditional blued steel open-tipped Breguet hands. The date and day are respectively placed at 2 and 10 o'clock. The windows feature a broad aperture for enhanced readability.

The movement

At the heart of its 39 mm white or rose case beats Calibre 502, which is one of Breguet’s thinnest movements at just 2.4 mm thick. Its design was conceived to provide a high level of performance despite its slenderness. Its barrel is open in order to enhance this slim aesthetic while guaranteeing constant energy and performance. Its oscillating weight is off-centred to provide maximum space for the main movement elements and is thus integrated within a minimum thickness.

This rhodium-plated self-winding movement consists of 236 components. It is equipped with a silicon balance-spring as well as an escapement featuring an inverted straight-line pallet-lever with silicon horns. Silicon boasts multiple properties. In addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the precision of the timepiece. This movement that can be admired through the sapphire caseback highlights a skill dear to Breguet: decoration.

While the white gold oscillating weight is hand-engraved on a rose engine with a circular barleycorn pattern, the other components are graced with chamfered finishes and a Côtes de Genève motif. Finally, the balance of the new Classique Calendar 7337 oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a 45-hour power reserve.

The Classique collection

Featuring a design representing a blend of purity and refinement, the Classique collection faithfully illustrates the strong aesthetic of the brand's origins. Above and beyond his talent as a watchmaker and inventor, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also one of the first designers. When the company was founded in Paris in 1775, baroque style was all the rage. He invented and initiated the neoclassical style in watchmaking – an aesthetic vision that gave the dials an avant-garde look while making it easier to read the watch's indications.

He created open-tipped hands, the guilloché pattern and the off-centred dial, to name but a few of these novel stylistic features. The latter achievement appeared as of 1812 on pocket watches and established the brand’s DNA. Inspired by these creations, the first interpretation of the Classique 7337 wristwatch was introduced in 2009. The 2022 version is a contemporary and elegant incarnation of the original watch, while remaining faithful to the powerful signatures of the Classique line.
