The aim of a skeleton is to reveal the movement, workings and mechanical beauty in all their glory. But that requires light. What better source of light could there be than the one that has given us life – the sun? Once again, ArtyA reconciles extremes and opens up a new creative path, combining a multicolored movement clad in the absolute minimum with all the warmth of a life-giving heavenly body.
This incredible Watch has a Lab-created synthetic sapphire case that has the same physical properties, visual characteristics and hardness level as the natural gemstones. Natural sapphires are created by the earth and mined, which makes them rare. The synthetic stones (known as corundum, a chemically pure, aluminum oxide ) are created by man in a carefully controlled environment.
This case is incredibly scratch proof because of the remarkable hardness of sapphires – 9 on the Moh’s scale (apx 1800 Vickers) the third hardest mineral, after diamond at 10 and moissanite at 9,5
This is why it is long difficult and costly to create a full sapphire case to the high standard of ArtyA

It also has been long believed to have a curing power for natural ailments. In ancient Persia, If ground up, it was used as an all purpose medicine. Ivan the Terrible of Russia stated that the sapphire strengthened the heart and muscles and endowed a person with courage.
But the most important attribute of the sapphire was said to be the protection against sorcery- it was thought to banish evil spirits and send negative spells back to the sender.

ArtyA Purity Tourbillon Beauty and Purity on your wrist
To those already acquainted with Yvan Arpa’s pioneering craftsmanship, it will not come as a surprise to discover the amount of reflection and inventiveness that has gone into creating the ArtyA Purity Tourbillon.
This new addition to the ArtyA’s Complication Collection features a fully transparent crystal case in order to maximize the magic and beauty of the exclusive Double Barrel Manufacture Flying Tourbillon movement.
Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTOAs an expression of ArtyA’s horological grammar, the Purity Tourbillon displays a technical inventiveness that combines a maverick style with visual clarity. A beautifully balanced architectural ensemble, the manually wound caliber features an over-sized flying tourbillon with a diameter of 17 mm which is at least 50% larger than most existing tourbillons.
Since the ArtyA Purity tourbillon beats at a rate of 4 HZ, extraordinary accuracy and greater stability are achieved through a much higher frequency than many other high-end Swiss tourbillons (usually 2 or 3HZ).
Equipped with a power-reserve of 70 hours, the two barrels connected in parallel, fuel the movement that operates the central hour and minute functions while the indication of the seconds is elegantly displayed on the flying tourbillon that rotates 360 degrees in 60 seconds.
Mounting the barrels in parallel reduces the thickness of the spring for more stable torque. But also improves the delta of the barrel spring curve, with an ideal ratio between power reserve, performance and regularity.
ArtyA has chosen to manufacture this timepiece with a free-sprung balance with variable inertia :
This type of balance wheel represents the ultimate in innovation. It guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shocks and during movement assembly or disassembly, hence better chronometric results over time.
Fully transparent, the sapphire crystal case has nothing to hide and plenty to show. This quest for transparency takes to the extremes the skeletonizing of the movement and enhances the astonishing beauty of its intricate spirit. Each part of the movement is delicately bevelled and polished by hand.
The skeletonised bridges were subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimise their resistance capacities.
Meditations of a Watchmaker
From the very start, Mr. Arpa aimed at a design that could fully exploit the luminescent potentials of the Laboratory created corundum, a sapphire-like gem sharing its many unique qualities, both physical and spiritual.

ArtyA pays tribute to important vintage movements with its new Historic Collection. The Valjoux 23VZcirca 1938 is the first movement carefully selected by ArtyA for this new collection. This movement is highly sought-after for its quality, precision and beauty.
For example, in a November 2013 Christie’s Geneva auction, a Patek Philippe 1463in steel was sold for more than $500,000.
This ultra-coveted watch represents the quintessence of the Patek line of the 1950s.
This watch is powered by the Patek caliber13-130, which is a re-decorated Valjoux 23, the same movement family as the Valjoux 23VZ ArtyA is using for this first historical movement piece.
To celebrate this incredible piece of history, ArtyA has skeletonized and delicately hand-engraved every detail of this movement. To cap it off, the movement is in a solid 18k rose gold case.

This hand-produced pattern is in himself an outstanding achievement for any craftsman. But the really eye-catching exploit for any connoisseur is that for the first time in watchmaking, it is engraved in grade 5 titanium.
This material is already used in watchmaking – for its hardness. So engraving patterns on it is counter-intuitive, to say the least. And that was precisely the approach that attracted Yvan Arpa: “titanium is sold to us as an absolute, the epitome of toughness: resistant to impacts, corrosion, temperature, and so on. In actual fact, it’s simply a little more resistant than the reference materials we have always been used to, such as steel. And instead of machining it clinically, it can be worked with to produce a piece of art – as I have now demonstrated.”
Engraved out of Titanium Grade 5, more usually renowned for its outstanding hardness. The floral motifs draw inspiration from foliage pattern on historic gun stocks that inspired Yvan Arpa. The flying Tourbillon made especially for this shape by MHC for ArtyA has, as well, incredible back bridges in arabesque shape. The really eye-catching exploit for any connoisseur is that it is engraved in grade 5 titanium.
The Royal Arabesque Tourbillon has a 52.5 x 40 mm case. The piece is powered by a hand-wound Swiss-made mechanical caliber, regulated by a flying tourbillon with an outstanding three-day (90-hour) power reserve.
The watch is engraved with “Pièce Unique – 1/1”, and fitted with a hand-engraved tang buckle on a full-skin crocodile strap.

Inspiration
The choice of arabesque patterns is a highly personal touch by Yvan Arpa. “I got the idea from a western,” he explains. “I noticed the engraved stock of a rifle. The patterns were perfect. I drew some patterns in the same spirit then validated the model with Bram Ramon who redesigned the idea; they went on to fashion this outstanding watch.”
The Arabesque Tourbillon is powered by a fabulous hand-wound Swiss-made historical mechanical mono pusher chrono tourbillon, regulated by a flying tourbillon with an outstanding Five-days (120-hours) power reserve. There has been a lot of high watchmaking work to secure it to the highest standard of ArtyA Complications collection.
