Black firmly at the controls

The Chronoliner by Breitling is ready for takeoff in a new version teaming its high-tech ceramic bezel with a black steel case, along with a matching dial and rubber strap. A technical and elegant uniform for the authentic flight captain’s watch.

After the steel model and the red gold limited series, Breitling now introduces this triple timezone chronograph, inspired by a watch from the 1950s-1960s, in an all-black new livery accentuating its original and timeless style. The steel case is coated with a high-resistance carbon-based treatment. Its satin-brushed surfaces create a subtle contrast with the shiny, ultra-hard and scratch-resistant ceramic bezel.

The dark touch continues on the dial featuring tone-on-tone counters, as well as on the original rubber strap picking up the design of the steel mesh Aero Classic bracelets.

The white and silver indications stand out clearly against the black background, in keeping with the finest traditions of aviator watches, while this optimal legibility is reinforced by the luminescent-coated oversized hands and hour-markers. The case is water-resistant to 100 m (330 ft) and its back bears a depiction of the stylized planes that were a longtime Breitling signature.

To set off on a longhaul flight around the world, the Chronoliner combines the two functions most useful to pilots and globetrotters: a chronograph to measure flight times and a triple timezone display to juggle with the time around the world. The second timezone in 24-hour mode (useful for distinguishing between day and night) is indicated by a red-tipped central hand, while the bidirectional rotating bezel with its star-shaped cut-out that facilitates handling, serves to read off a third timezone, also in 24-hour mode.

All these functions are precisely and reliably powered by a selfwinding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). Performance at the controls.

Available now, the watch is priced at £6,600 on a black steel bracelet and £6,300 for the rubber strap.

MEMORIGIN – Sculpture Guanyin Tourbillon

MEMORIGIN Sculpture Guanyin Tourbillon NEW

Heart Sutra

In every corner of the world, religions are inseparable in human’s lives such as Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism and Islam, etc. All these religions are connected to history and culture. Especially in China, Buddhism was found thousands years before in India, until it spread to China. Nowadays, the Chinese culture has merged and interpreted to the Buddhism in China. And the history remains over hundreds of myths and scripture up until now. They have been translated from the original text into diversity versions of languages to educate the believers who seek for the knowledge of god. The most significant of the Heart Sutrahas among the scripture, since the monk – Xuanzang in Tang dynasty translated this scripture into Chinese, within 260 words version of Heart Sutrais widely spread among the Asian countries. The content stated the view of facing the natural and praise highly to be kindness.

Sculpture Series Guanyin

To represent the Buddhism, “Heart Sutra” is a representative of the scripture. To name the other instead of Gautama Buddha, Guanyin might be the next remarkable character. Guanyin’s character appears in different stories and books. In Chinese culture the main role of the Guanyin is to listen to different people’s words. Guanyin is not just an important role in Buddhism, but it’s also representing the wisdom of the Chinese culture.

In order to cherish and protect these Chinese cultures, Memorigin specially produced the “Sculpture Series” – Guanyin by engraving different lines to form the perspective “Heart Sutra” on the dial which behind the sculpture of Guanyin.

In additions, Memorigin completed a difficult challenge of engraving 260 words of the “Heart Sutra” and it appears with the spectacular engraved background. Each stroke of the words is tiny within 0.03mm to 0.05mm. In order to minimize the thickness and revealing the texture of the word engraving, Memorigin has chosen “the mother of pearl” in high density materials. And the “Greek Key” pattern surrounded on the dial, which simply represented the beauty of details in Chinese culture.

For the initial design, the watch masters intended to display the hands on top of the sculpture of Guanyin, but it seems declines the beauty of the watch. Moreover, the most important issue is that it would cover the details of the Guanyin sculpture. To preserve the whole appearance of the Guanyin, Memorigin made a breakthrough of placing the hands under the sculpture.

The tourbillon is displayed on the 12 o’ clock position which represent a “halo” from behind the sculpture with the intensive luminous material and “Om mani padme hum” surrounding. Besides, Memorigin typically selected the 40-hour-tourbillon movement in frequency of 28,800 oscillations / hour for this series. The functions and the exquisite sculpture enhance the artistic value this tourbillon watch.

Jaeger-LeCoultre – Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon Platinum Edition

Jaeger-LeCoultreReverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon Platinum 85th Anniversary Special Edition NEW

Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon,
a Grande Complication model celebrating
the
Reverso’s 85 th anniversary in styl

A veritable masterpiece showcasing the watchmaking skills and rare crafts (Métiers Rares®) cultivated by Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon is a stellar creation within the new 2016 collection. Its elegant and sophisticated case houses a movement equipped with an unusual Gyrotourbillon®. Vividly embodying the signature horological sophistication of Jaeger-LeCoultre on both faces, it springs a number of surprises including an entirely openworked back dial. This platinum model is issued in a 75-piece limited series.

Jaeger-LeCoultre wished to offer devotees of fine objects a sleek and refined watch accommodating the complexity of the Gyrotourbillon®. The master-watchmakers of the Manufacture have drawn upon the full force of their talent in creating a remarkably well-proportioned movement.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

The Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon is 30% trimmer in terms of both width and thickness. For a Grande Complication movement, this accomplishment testifies to remarkable virtuosity. This timepiece is thus entirely in line with the spirit of the Hybris Mechanica line, a collection of fascinatingly technical and beautiful models that epitomise the watchmaking genius of the gifted artisans exercising their art within the Grande Maison.

Equipped with the Jaeger-LeCoultre manually-wound Calibre 179, entirely developed and produced in the Manufacture, this creation reveals an all-new Gyrotourbillon®. Now performing its rotation by means of an external driving mechanism, it appears to be floating in mid-air.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

This enables a spectacular plunging view of the light, airy architecture. Pared down to their slimmest possible form, the two carriages of this bi-axial flying tourbillon perform an external rotation in one minute and an internal rotation in 12.6 seconds.

The gaze can thus linger on the balance-spring hand-crafted in the workshops of the Manufacture. Its hemispherical shape is bound to catch the attention of those who will recognise the additional difficulty and precision involved in such a design. This delicate and exclusive balance-spring is a token of expert technical mastery that is also exercised on the Gyrolab® balance-wheel, distinguished by a non-circular configuration that considerably reduces air friction. Shaped like the Jaeger-LeCoultre anchor symbol, this component represents a decisive breakthrough in terms of the watch’s precision.

THE DUO CONCEPT ASSOCIATED WITH RARE CRAFTS (MÉTIERS RARES®)

The front of the Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon features a finely grained white round dial swept over by blued steel Dauphine-type hands and evoking the noblest traditions of horological sophistication. An elegant day/night indicator appears at 11 o’clock, while the seconds are displayed in an unusual manner by means of a graduated disc rotating at the cadence of the Gyrotourbillon®, with a small blue arrow placed on its left serving to read off this indication. A hand-crafted sunburst guilloché pattern accentuates the refinement of this side and echoes the finishing on the watch cradle.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

There is something uniquely exciting about swivelling the case to savour a second face that both stimulates curiosity and heightens desire. The surprising back of the Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon majestically demonstrates the art of the Manufacture’s engravers. The entirely openworked movement with its bridges hand-decorated by these skilled artisans creates a remarkable effect on this back dial.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

The inherent difficulty of this remarkably delicate workmanship is compounded by a sizeable watchmaking challenge, since the sheer slenderness of the movement makes it a particularly risky exercise. The dual-time display and the Gyrotourbillon® stand out against the intricate downstrokes and upstrokes of the openworked movement. This side also carries a day/night indicator in 24-hour mode at 2 o’clock as well as a small seconds hand driven by the tourbillon.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

Swivelling the case also reveals a cradle that is gently curved to follow the shape of the wrist. This area adorned with a sunburst guilloché motif leaves a small round, smoothly polished surface just below the position of the Gyortourbillon®, thus enabling a full view of the show performed by this major complication when the case is fitted inside its cradle.

What finer invention could one imagine to celebrate the birthday of the iconic Reverso than this exceptional creation – a limited edition that is heralding a new chapter in the history of this model so deeply cherished by devotees of beautiful watches since 1931.

MONTBLANC – 4810 TwinFly Chronograph Transatlantic Edition

MONTBLANC 4810 TwinFly Chronograph Transatlantic 110 years Limited Edition NEW

Montblanc 4810 Collection

Montblanc marks its 110th anniversary this year with a new 4810 Collection, building on this best-selling line that was first presented in 2006 for the Maison’s centennial celebrations.  The new 4810 Collection respects all the codes of Montblanc’s watchmaking, with its strong, elegant and sporty design, offering a new sophisticated interpretation of this much loved 4810 Collection for the modern traveller who needs a performance timepiece he can rely on.

Worldwide timekeeping and highly functional chronometry – the  transatlantic travellers of the early 20th century would have found  this timepiece’s two complications immensely useful: a 24-hour  display with day & night indication for a second time zone and an  in-house developed TwinFly chronograph.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

Highly functional manufacture complications are an integral part of Montblanc’s horological offering, as the new Montblanc 4810 TwinFly Chronograph Transatlantic Limited Edition illustrates so well.  This flyback chronograph allows the wearer to time one event, and then stop, reset and restart the chronograph with just one press on the pusher at 4 o’clock.  This TwinFly function not only restarts the central chronograph seconds hand (in blue), but also the central minutes chronograph hand (in red gold), sending both hands back to zero and instantly restarting them for a new time measurement. Another pusher at 2 o’clock starts and stops the chronograph, while the pusher at 4 o’clock also returns the chronograph to 0 when it has previously been stopped.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

Driving the functions of the Montblanc 4810 TwinFly Chronograph Transatlantic Limited Edition is the Maison’s self-winding Calibre MB LL100.1 that has been developed and assembled entirely in-house and features both a chronograph and a dual time indication via an additional central hand (the dual time function on the MB LL100.1 has the same functionality as the one on the Heritage Chronometrie Dual Time).  The chronograph mechanism uses a traditional column wheel and a vertical clutch system to start and stop the chronograph with perfect precision. Two barrels ensure a 72-hour power reserve so that the wearer can comfortably leave the watch over the weekend and then strap it right back on the wrist on Monday morning without missing a beat.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

On the aesthetic side, all the familiar Montblanc design codes can be found in the Montblanc 4810 TwinFly Transatlantic Limited Edition, starting with a 43 mm steel case and a large opening for the silvery-white guilloché dial, whose pattern depicts an exploded view of the iconic Montblanc Star. The hours are marked by alternating red gold-plated Roman numerals and baton indexes, while the hands are a mix of baton and skeleton designs and point to scales that run around the dial, indicating the seconds and the minutes with utmost precision. Each hour is also accentuated by the addition of a SuperLumiNova®* dot for improved visibility at night, and the minute scale includes red numbers at each 10-minute mark for greater legibility during the day.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                       BIG FOTO

For the functions, the hour and minute hands are indicated with red gold-plated, sword-shaped hands, while the second time zone is shown via a highly readable skeletonized blue sword-shaped hand (for home time when travelling). Setting the local time is an extremely fast and precise affair, as the seconds don’t stop when the crown is pulled out. Moving onto the subdials, small seconds are displayed by a red gold-plated hand with a red tip in the subdial at 6 o’clock.  This subdial also doubles as a date indicator with a large red arrow pointing to the date. At 12 o’clock, the subdial illustrates a map of the world that reveals whether it is day or night in the home time when travelling and links back to the pioneering spirit of transatlantic travel.

Limited to 1,110 pieces, the Montblanc 4810 TwinFly Chronograph Transatlantic Limited Edition comes fitted with an elegant black alligator strap.

Ateliers deMonaco – Admiral Chronographe Flyback – Saphir

Ateliers deMonaco Admiral Chronographe Flyback – Saphir Limited Edition NEW

Ateliers deMonaco introduces
the
Admiral Chronographe Flyback - Saphir

Geneva – August  2016

The flyback function first appeared in 1936 and since then has become a favourite amongst pilots and sportsmen alike. Incredibly useful when timing short and fast races, the function allows its user to save valuable time while timing an event. By pressing the flyback pusher once, the timing stops at the first interval and resets the hand to zero. The chronograph hand then starts again once the pusher is released.

In keeping with its aim to make complications work easier and better, Ateliers deMonaco's patented Admiral Chronographe Flyback makes no exception and measures a succession of elapsed times while eliminating many superfluous repetitive operations.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                          BIG FOTO

The chronograph's impressive mechanism is housed in an equally striking 18K rose or white gold envelope. Aesthetically, the dial is probably the most exceptional feature of the timepiece, adding a true uniqueness from the very first glance. Indeed, entirely made out of sapphire crystal - an iconic material for high luxury watches - Ateliers deMonaco makes a daring choice to enable people to admire the movement and details of the watch directly through the dial – a true gift for any watch aficionado.

Adorning this fine window into the chronograph's heart, roman indexes have been skilfully applied to dress the dial as a timeless and refined touch. Over 50 holes had to be delicately pierced into the surface in order to fix the diamond-cut and curved numerals, making the dial evermore exceptional.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                          BIG FOTO

Behind this precious exterior, the watch is powered by its own in-house Admiral Chronographe Flyback caliber with a direct "return to zero" mechanism, running at 28.800 beats per hour and offering a 38-hour power reserve. Embellished with 32 jewels, hand-decorated bridges and a 22K gold hand-engraved rotor, the timepiece's core is as precious as its luxurious case.

Every element is fully polished and assembled by hand like a piece of art, hand-crafted to a standard of perfection. The chronograph is mounted on a hand-stitched alligator leather strap with an 18K gold ardillon buckle to further enhance it classical elegance.

With its refined look, one can easily wear the Admiral Chronographe Flyback - Saphir on a daily basis, shifting swiftly from a polished business look to a stylish afterwork attire.

 Origins

One of the most rewarding things in life is to create. Yet, even more aspiring is to create something that lasts beyond your own life – a legacy”.
 Peter Stas, Co-Founder

From Monaco’s inspiration to the “Swiss Made” knighting

Thanks to its faithfulness to the noblest criteria of haute horlogerie as well as a passion for mechanical innovations, Ateliers deMonaco won its place amongst the rare and recognized independent watch manufactures.

Beyond the artistic vision of any new and original masterpiece, men and know-how are at the heart of the brand’s creations, each stamped with bienfacture and excellence.
Daring innovation is a constant quest but it should never be separated from an outstanding watchmaking savoir-faire.

From in-house mechanical movements to hand-crafted decorative components, evocative design features to chamfered and polished bridges, special engraving to sculpted skeleton dials through the appealing shape of a case, each element brilliantly showcases Ateliers deMonaco’s technical expertise and passion for haute horlogerie.

The hand finishing is “the added ingredient from the soul” which gives its uniqueness and signature to the creations. That’s why every individual Ateliers deMonaco timepiece is carefully polished, brushed and engraved by hand. In some cases the process can take over a 100 hours per watch.

The brand’s masterpieces feature unique artworks and always come in very limited and numbered editions. Among the numerous exclusive and iconic creations, Ateliers deMonaco had the honor to create a unique piece for H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Inspired by Princess Charlene of Monaco, La Sirène features a very refined and natural mother of pearl at the center of the dial, highlighting 48 lozenge shaped topaz stones set in a King Protea pattern, the flower of South Africa. And finally the Tourbillon - Grand Prix de Mai 1965 - inspired by the official poster of the 1965 Monaco Grand Prix.

From the Tourbillon to the Admiral Chronographe Flyback through the Poinçon de Genève, Ateliers deMonaco offers 6 exceptional mechanical ranges on top of a bespoke private collection.

Ateliers deMonaco is particularly proud to be the fifth brand bearing the demanding Geneva seal – a standard of excellence stemming from the tradition of haute horlogerie and rewarding high-end Geneva based watch brands.

As part of its dedication to haute horlogerie and Swiss Made excellence, the brand’s new headquarters are in Geneva, but its soul will always linger in the Riviera’s most beautiful jewel which has inspired its birth name: Monaco.

Heir of traditional high-end mastery. Visionary of technological virtuosity.

“We have always dreamt about making a mechanical watch movement which would be the most precise in the world and keep generations of scientists busy to figure out how we did it.
Pim Koeslag – Master Watchmaker and Co-Founder

Since 2008, Ateliers deMonaco has placed great emphasis on the development of new complicated mechanical movements, such as its own tourbillon minute repeater which let the brand entered in a very exclusive group of watchmakers having the ability to design and manufacture such a complication in-house.

The manufacture has already been rewarded with 4 patents:

Perpetual calendar with “EaZy adjust” system
The Quantième Perpétuel collection is made with an in-house developed perpetual calendar with an “EaZy adjust” system allowing to set the time, date, day, week, month and (leap) year by just using the crown.

“eXtreme Precision 1 minute” tourbillon
The Tourbillon collection is made with an in-house developed “eXtreme Precision 1 minute” tourbillon, one of the most accurate tourbillon movements in the world.

Flyback chronograph with “direct return to zero” mechanism
A pending patent for the “direct return to zero” mechanism: the latter is unlike any other chronographs directly activated by the 4 o’clock pusher. Its flyback hammer is programmed to action and disengage the chronograph clutch wheel, engage the brake, and turn the chronograph’s second and minute wheel all at the same time.

Geneva seal with “Freebeat” regulation system
The patented “Freebeat” regulation system allows us to regulate the length of the hairspring with an adjustable crémaillère (straight bar with teeth on one edge, allowing it to be fixated at different length) obsoleting the need for the regulation pins and thus avoiding the interference.

Inspiration is just the beginning of creation and achievement. Watchmaking art is the expression of a passion for the finest details and the perfection of actions. That’s the reason why Ateliers deMonaco haute horlogerie vision and our commitment are henceforth embodied in a new brand signature, Noblesse Oblige
