HUBLOT Classic Fusion 45 mm “BRONZE ANTICLOCKWISESpecial Edition

HUBLOT AND AHMED SEDDIQI & SONS LAUNCH
THE HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION
SPECIAL EDITION BRONZE ANTICLOCKWISE

Building on their successful, shared “Vision” of being different and unique, Hublot and UAE partners Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons launched an all-new timepiece on November 22: the Classic Fusion Special Edition Bronze Anticlockwise. This is Hublot’s first-ever watch made fully from bronze, with a grey dial, and featuring an anticlockwise movement, another first for the watchmaking brand.

David Tedeschi, Regional Director for Latin America & Caribbean and Middle East & Africa, and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons Chief Commercial Officer Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi presented the piece to press and collectors during Dubai Watch Week 2019.

"As modern-day alchemists, we always strive to find original ways of connecting the past to the future. For that, we looked into turning back time with our completely new anticlockwise movement, which we housed in a case made from bronze, one of the first-ever alloys to be used by man. We are excited to launch this exclusive watch with our partners Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons who share our passion for innovation and our different approach to time." - David Tedeschi, Regional Director for Hublot Latin America & Caribbean and Middle East & Africa

"We are honored to introduce with Hublot today at Dubai Watch Week this unique timepiece that will definitely catch the attention of those who want to spend time on their own terms. This is a keepsake that will travel from generation to generation, allowing collectors to connect with time in an unconventional way." - Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons Chief Commercial Officer

Turning back time

Designed and produced at the Hublot Manufacture in Switzerland, the Classic Fusion Special Edition Bronze Anticlockwise turns back time with its 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 O’clock Indian numbers indexes positioned backwards on the dial, and its hands turning counter-clockwise. The self-winding anticlockwise movement inspires the wearer to take a step back in time and admire the UAE’s impressive path that lead it to its current greatness.

The Art of Fusion in materials: Bronze

Hublot cut its Classic Fusion case out of bronze, a material created over 10,000 years ago through a fusion of copper and other metals such as aluminium, manganese, nickel or zinc. The alloy has the advantages of non-magnetism, resistance to corrosion and a distinctive appearance through its unmistakable hue. As bronze is covered with a natural patina that protects it and lends it an unparalleled finish, it gives this special edition a beautiful color that contrasts with the grey dial which positions its 3N gold-plated appliques in an unusual direction.

An homage to the avant-garde spirit of Hublot, the highly anticipated watch with its grey calf and gold stitched strap is limited to 100 pieces, a collector’s edition that defies the test of time and tradition.

*Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper with the addition of other metals (such as aluminium, manganese, nickel or zinc) and sometimes non-metals or metalloids such as arsenic, phosphorus or silicon. These additions produce a range of alloys that may be harder than copper alone, or have other useful properties, such as stiffness, ductility, or machinability. The archeological period where bronze was the hardest metal in widespread use is known as the Bronze Age. The discovery of bronze enabled people to create metal objects which were harder and more durable than previously possible

In the Muslim world, the calendar is based on the cycles of the moon. The Hijri or Islamic lunar calendar consists of twelve months of 29 or 30 days – depending on the moon phase- and is used to pinpoint the days for Islamic holidays.

In contrast to the solar calendar, which is used in the west, the months of the lunar calendar change annually by a difference of -10 to -12 days. As a result, each month always falls on a different season and there-fore varies from the Gregorian Calendar.

The starting point of Islamic time calculations is the emi-gration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in present-day Saudi Arabia in the year 622, known as Hijri, and is when the first Muslim community was founded.

This new piece features a 44.5 mm timepiece with a plat-inum case, a slate dial and rotor in platinum. It shows the hours and minutes, and date in Arabic numerals, the name and length of the months in Arabic calligraphy, as well as the abundant and the common years.

It also fea-tures a moon phase in an aventurine sky and a power reserve of up to 48 hours. As seen in all Parmigiani time-pieces, every single component of the movement, even the hidden parts, are decorated by in-house specialists. No components were made of gold.

Every detail has been thought of and this stunning time-piece includes Arabic architecture inspired elements- the bridges adopt the shape of growing and shrinking cres-cent moons and the Rub el Hizb, an Islamic symbol represented by two overlapping squares.
