On March 10 at SXSW in Austin, Texas, CITIZEN unveils its new smart watch “Eco-Drive Riiiver,” which incorporates the IoT platform service “Riiiver.”

Eco-Drive Riiiver

Eco-Drive Riiiver is a next-generation smart watch that connects to various devices and services through the CITIZEN’s open-source “Riiiver“ IoT platform. The new platform makes it possible, for example, to call a transportation service with just push of watch button or operate smart speakers with the watch.

Eco-Drive Riiiver’s design combines the best of both worlds with smart-watch functionality and the smart analogue style of a wristwatch. In addition, Eco-Drive powers the watch using any light source with no external battery charging necessary.

The new watches feature high-visibility colours and hands encased in a wide, spacious dial that make readability quick and easy.

Designed to be an all-season tool watch, the Denise is as usable when diving in the ocean as hiking in the Alps. The ceramic bezel can apart from being used to measure time with the second, minute and hour hand, be utilized as a reliable compass.

A centrally positioned power reserve indicator let you know exactly how much energy is stored within the watch if you ever need to put it down, knowing how long the movement will keep running.

When fully wound, the automatic movement runs for 50+ hours and is calibrated by hand in our Performance Center to an outstanding level of accuracy. Since the watch will lay on its side when not in use, we optimized the resting position to crown-up, making sure your Denise is on point when you need it.

Our rubber bracelet is designed to take a beating while being comfortable to wear. With the new dive buckle, you can adjust the length of the bracelet an extra 8.5mm without removing the watch from your wrist, made to quickly expand the bracelet when wearing the Denise over a wet-suit or a ski-jacket.

The lugs are drilled to fit single-shoulder spring bars, securing the bracelet from being accidentally torn off the case. Future integrated steel bracelet options are enabled thanks to the angles between the lugs.

The case is a continuation of our Calypso design, sturdy but sophisticated, with broad shoulders and clear-cut bevels swirling around the watch from lug-to-lug. Denise is shorter than the Calypso by 2mm while remaining 40mm in diameter.

It is 14mm in height and features finely applied angles to achieve a sleek look, suitable for all-occasion wear. The gap between strap and case is covered, making any 20mm accessory integrated to the watch.

The name – Denise

Our previous Calypso collection is named after the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau’s research ship, a fitting name to the purpose of the watch and E.C.Andersson’s connection the ocean.

When we decided to make a professional diver in the Calypso design language it was obvious to us to use the name of Cousteau’s small submarine, the Denise, that was carried aboard the Calypso ship.

Limited

As always with our watches, the Denise is limited and marks the last model to be released through pre-order before we move on to stocked pieces on listing price.
