Developed and made in Ateliers deMonaco’s manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates, the dMc-700 automatic movement is assembled by the Maison’s passionate watchmakers. The masterpiece of this movement is its hand-engraved, 22-carat gold rotor which represents the Principality of Monaco’s coat of arms. Ateliers deMonaco is the only brand allowed to use this shield.

This traditional movement is encased by a 18-carat rose gold case magnified by 617 champagne-coloured diamonds, set to fit the shape of the case perfectly. In perfect harmony with the case, a delicate flower called King Protea is represented on the dial.

Three rows of 24 lozenge-shaped settings welcome 120 champagne diamonds to create the corolla. The heart of the flower is made of white mother-of-pearl, and is surrounded by a rose gold ring. Finally, to echo the colour of the white mother-of-pearl and the base of the rhodium-plated rose gold dial, a white alligator strap enhances the whole.

This new timepiece, La Sirène Champagne, is the fourth reinterpretation of the original La Sirène Topaze piece created in honour of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco. This flagship model of the women’s Ateliers de Monaco collection is limited to 8 pieces only. An ideal and coveted gift for the holidays.

Moritz Grossmann – ATUM Backpage Platinum - Unique piece

Moritz GrossmannATUM Backpage’ Platinum 41mm 10th Anniversary - Unique piece

Moritz Grossmann presents the ATUM Backpage
– a showcase for the art of Grossmann watchmaking

Schönstes deutsches Handwerk

The renowned German watchmaker Moritz Grossmann celebrates its tenth anniversary in November. To mark this special occasion the independent watchmaker from Glashütte is pleased to reveal its eleventh special model, the ATUM Backpage Platinum. This platinum single edition piece offers a showcase for Grossmann’s beautiful watchmaking art.

With the exception of the delicate minute scale on the rim of the watch face the dial is completely exposed enabling spectators to admire all the beautifully intricate details of the movement.

The ATUM Backpage Platinum‘s artistically handcrafted movement has been mirrored and shifted to the dial side by Moritz Grossmann’s master watchmakers. Thanks to an unexpectedly large dial cut-out, the characteristic movement details such as Grossmann’s balance wheel, a hand-engraved balance cock and three band snailings on the ratchet wheel can be fully observed while on the wrist. Wide Glashütte stripes are applied to both sides of the movement and the Moritz Grossmann logo is hand engraved on the dial side. Blue hands and blue screws, tempered in the manufactory, complete the elegant colour scheme of this extraordinary watch.

Calibre 107.0

Calibre 107.0 is essentially a mirror image of the calibre 100.1, but with crucial new design elements.  An additional wheel between the crown wheel and the ratchet wheel reverses the entire drive train with respect to the rotation of the mainspring barrel.  The wheel train runs in the right direction thanks to the mirrored escapement and the mirrored oscillation system – also including the balance spring coiling direction.

The larger dimensions of the 2/3 plate necessitated design changes for the balance cock and the escape-wheel cock. The cantilevered geometry of the escape-wheel cock creates a balanced accent in the overall arrangement of the movement. The High-Artistic finish showcases attractive hand engravings, bevels, and chamfers.

The minute-wheel bridge

To achieve the desired presence of the winding wheels on the dial side, the dial train was reconfigured. The artistically finished train wheels were arranged beneath a lavishly polished minute-wheel bridge. Since in this case, the hand-setting mechanism is located on the opposite side of the movement, the setting wheel extends all the way through the calibre.

The new arrangement created space for the optimised barrel bearing and the ratchet wheel, which was also shifted to the front side.

The winder with pusher and stop seconds

On the new rear side of the movement, the winding and hand-setting mechanism is now openly integrated in the train bridge, so its functionality can be fully observed for the first time. The stop-seconds and stop-balance functions have been redesigned as well.

In the hand-setting mechanism, the brake position is sampled at the clutch lever and, via a push rod, transferred to the brake spring, which then stops the balance.

After the pusher is activated and the movement starts, the brake spring returns the push rod to its rest position.

On the back of the movement, the winding and hand-setting mechanisms are openly integrated into the train bridge and can be observed in their full functionality. Almost all parts in the movement are mirrored in order to guarantee their function even when mounted in the opposite position.
