SEIKO – Prospex 1968 Automatic Diver’s Commemorative Special Edition

SEIKOProspex 1968 Automatic Diver’s Commemorative Special Limited Edition (Ref. SLA019J1)

Concept

Inspired by the lush green of Yakushima's primeval cedar forests, the limited edition is fashioned with a dark green dial. Yakushima is Japan's first Natural World Heritage site, and like our Prospex watches, Yakushima's diving sites are renowned for their exceptional visibility. The green of Yakushima breathes new life into this classic diver's design.

Yakushima

Yakushima is located in the south of Japan and registered as Japan's first Natural World Heritage site in 1993. As well as being a World Natural Heritage Site because of its forests, Yakushima is a much loved destination for the diving community, thanks to its crystal clear waters, coral reefs and abundant marine life.

The deep green dial

Its signature feature is the green color. This rich shade of green reflects the lush tones of the ancient cedar trees on the island of Yakushima at the southern end of the Japanese archipelago.

A bezel designed for a purpose

The professional level of the specifications becomes clear when you study the precise and secure operation of the uni-directional bezel. Its 120 ratchet design delivers more precise use and greater safety and the deep grooves make its operation easier and more secure, even at depth.

Highly durable zirconia ceramic bezel

The Zirconia ceramic will last a lifetime and longer, protecting the watch from rust and scratches so that the beauty of its deep green color endures for years to come, just as the verdant beauty of the forests of Yakushima has always remained pristine.

Special LumiBrite

A special long-lasting LumiBrite coating on the hands ensures legibility at greater depths for longer than ever before. The 5, 10, 15, and 20 minute markers on the uni-directional rotating bezel are also coated in this new LumiBrite, adding extra security for divers.

This is a strap, made from high-strength silicone which is extremely resistant to sea water and perspiration sweat as well as being perfect for diving use with its accordion-style structure which allows it to expand and contract as the underwater pressure changes.

A limited edition of 1,968

Made in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the first Seiko 300 m Hi-Beat Diver's watch, just 1,968 of these watches will be made. Each watch has the word "Limited Edition" and its unique serial number engraved on the back. It is offered in its own special presentation case.

BREITLING – EXOSPACE B55 Yachting SuperQuartz™ Titanium - Carbon

BREITLING PROFESSIONAL EXOSPACE B55 Yachting SuperQuartz™ Titanium - Carbon 46mm Chronograph

A NOBLE TRADITION MEETS
OUR LEGENDARY FUTURE
THE BREITLING EXOSPACE B55 YACHTING

With the launch of the Exospace B55 in 2016, a multifunction pilot’s chronograph that enabled a Bluetooth connection to the wearer’s smartphone, Breitling reinforced its clear leadership role in electronic technology for watches. The Exospace B55 Yachting represents the reimagining of an extraordinary timepiece for yachting enthusiasts and other forward-thinking seafaring explorers.

The Backstory

When Breitling introduced the Exospace B55, its first connected chronograph, it effectively reimagined the smartphone as an accessory for the watch.

Featuring a Breitling Manufacture Caliber B55, the multifunction timepiece not only offered unparalleled performance and userfriendliness, but also made it clear that Breitling was the undisputed leader in advanced electronic technology for watches.

An Exospace B55 for Aviators …

Given Breitling’s history, creating the first Exospace watch for aviators was an obvious choice. It had a range of functions that could assist any pilot in the cockpit, including an electronic tachymeter, a device for recording flight times (while memorizing departure and arrival times), and countless other features, all made instantly accessible to the wearer thanks to the chronograph’s intuitive controls.

… And for Motorists

Soon afterward, Breitling introduced a version of the Exospace ideally suited for race car drivers and other motorsports enthusiasts. It offered the same level of connectedness as the pilot’s model while repurposing many of the functions to help motorists master even the most demanding roads and circuits.

The Evolution: The Exospace B55 Yachting

Now, staying true to its commitment to making great timepieces for use in the air, on the ground, and at sea – both above and below the surface – Breitling is introducing the Exospace B55 Yachting connected chronograph. As with all Exospace watches, this is not only an instrument for discerning professionals but also a feast for the eyes, with its strong, lightweight titanium case presented on a sturdy, sporty rubber strap.

The Exospace B55 Yachting boasts a Breitling Manufacture Caliber B55 that has been reimagined for yachting professionals and regatta competitors, who were actively involved in the development process. The thermocompensated quartz electronic movement powers a chronograph with analog as well as 12- and 24-hour digital displays, all clearly visible through a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

The chronograph has an ingenious countdown system, featuring audio, visual, and vibrating alarms and indications. If a judge stops a countdown, it is easy to resync the watch to the new countdown when it resumes. The watch stores split times, which can be read instantaneously on the watch’s digital screen or, when the Exospace is synchronized to a smartphone, on the phone’s display.

The notched bidirectional rotating bezel can be adjusted to make it easier to perform critical calculations regarding wind direction, sailing angle, and the optimal position on the starting line of a regatta.

As with all of the watches in the Exospace B55 family, the Yachting model offers an extensive number of functions. Highlights include a chronograph that calculates up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds with an outstanding degree of accuracy – to just 10 milliseconds. It can also be used to track lap and split times. This makes the regatta chronograph ideal not only for countdowns, but also for recording, replaying, deleting, and recovering all time-related information collected during a regatta.

A Well-Connected Chronograph

The defining feature of the Exospace B55 Yachting is that it can be paired with a smartphone using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. A dedicated app supports data transfer and allows settings to be configured remotely.

This two-way communication enables device and time-piece to form a perfectly complementary pair in which each is used for what it does best. Since the main assets of a smartphone are its screen and ergonomic interface, Exospace B55 Yachting wearers can use their phones to perform a range of adjustments including time-setting, time zones, alarms, display preferences, and operating parameters.

The result is a considerable gain in comfort and efficiency. Conversely, the user can upload various measurements from the chronograph to their smartphone, allowing them to be read more easily, stored, or forwarded. The Exospace B55 Yachting also receives notifications from the smartphone regarding incoming e-mails, messages, phone calls, and reminders of upcoming appointments.

The Breitling Manufacture Caliber B55
A Technical Marvel

Powered by a rechargeable battery system, the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B55, a SuperQuartz™ movement, is ten times more accurate than standard quartz and, like all Breitling wristwatches, is a COSC-certified chronometer.
