astonishes with its steampunk-like appeal

Completely handcrafted in Italy, like all U-BOAT creations, Chimera 43 B&B Mother of Pearl is a perfect example of the creativity of Italo Fontana. This version of Chimera is an astonishing new Steampunk design and seems straight from the world of a Jules Verne or HG Wells novels.

The 43 mm case is in naturally aged bronze and crafted in AISI 316 plus stainless steel with subsequent PVD coating treatment. Under the optical sapphire glass on the face, the dial consists of three superimposed layers, one in pure mother of pearl with varnished metal parts.

The bezel, case and case-back are locked together by external tubing that ensures water resistance to 100 meters. Additionally, the patented sculpted pusher enables the wearer to eject the inner crown from its recessed position for setting of time and date.

The watch offers date, hours, minutes, seconds as well as a laser cut 24 hour indicator. To finish an entirely handmade strap in naturally aged leather with finishes made with waxed cotton and Stainless steel buckle with PVD coating.

The new Commander Chronometer Limited Edition expresses the quintessence of the Commander collection. Its round steel 42.50 mm case provides it with a wide opening. Protected by a faceted domed sapphire crystal, the exquisite polished and lacquered ivory dial produces an inimitable beauty. With its retro style, coupled with an assertive sporty character, this model surprises with its unusual design.

The chronograph’s two snailed anthracite counters are a perfect illustration. Located at 12 and 6 o'clock, they contrast exquisitely with the dial ivory background. Several orange touches highlight the sporty look of the Commander Chronometer Limited Edition and evoke the visual identity of Mido, found on the chronograph’s three hands as well as the hour markers. The markers are coated with Super-LumiNova® for greater legibility at night. The aperture at 3 o’clock displays the day and the date.

As Mido’s only COSC-certified chronograph, the Commander Chronometer Limited Edition is a unique piece, reserved for aficionados of fine mechanical watchmaking. Its automatic chronograph movement is certified by the Swiss official chronometer testing institute, guaranteeing a high level of accuracy.

Like the Eiffel Tower from which the Commander collection draws its inspiration, the Chronometer Limited Edition will stand the test of time without showing its age. Water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m/165 ft), it is fitted with a satin-finished steel bracelet with folding clasp. Its transparent case back reveals the finely decorated chronometer movement with its blued screws and oscillating weight decorated with Geneva Stripes and the Mido logo.

The Commander Chronometer Limited Edition is limited to only 999 pieces and is supplied in a special case.
