LONGINES – Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph

http://www.longines.com/

LONGINES HERITAGE Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph NEW

Longines has been based in the market town of St. Imier since it was founded in 1832. As a tribute to its precious heritage, the Swiss watch producer takes its inspiration from the models in its museum to design watches that reflect its vast know-how. The latest addition to the Heritage collection is The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph. Housing an exclusive calibre, this single push-piece chronograph is a re-issue of an earlier pilot's watch and displays the time on a 24-hour scale.

St. Imier – a market town located in a valley in the Swiss Jura mountains. It was here that Longines was founded in 1832 and it is here also that, rooted in a rich history, the brand's museum can be found. Very aware of its vast know-how and true to tradition, Longines likes to take the inspiration for new models, and in particular for the watches in its Heritage collection, from those on display in its museum. And so for its latest creation, the Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph, the brand has replicated the lines of one of its pilot watch dating from the 1950s.

The diameter of the original model, a magnificent 47.50 mm, has been reproduced, as well as the dial with its 24-hour scale, available in black or silver. The steel case has a closed back, decorated with Longines' famous hourglass symbol, in use since 1889 and the oldest logo still in active use in its original form in the international registers of the World Intellectual Property Organisation. Each watch in this exceptional series is numbered.

The model on which this new creation is based was fitted with a calibre originally intended for a pocket watch and later adapted for use in a wrist-watch. The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph houses an L789 self-winding, mechanical movement. This new column-wheel chronograph calibre, produced exclusively for Longines, is an adaptation of Longines' own single push-piece movement. It features a chronograph function, displays the time on a 24-hour scale, and has a small seconds at 18 o'clock plus a date aperture at 12 o'clock, at the bottom of the dial. It is fitted on a black or brown alligator strap to match the colour of the dial.

CHOPARD – L.U.C Lunar Big Date

CHOPARDL.U.C  Lunar BIG DATE NEW

A new design for a grand classic

What could be more inspiring than to stay in permanent touch with the Moon? With its portion of the night sky visible on the dial, the L.U.C Lunar Big Date is a vivid reminder of the enduring ties between our time and the sky above us.

First launched in 2009, the L.U.C Lunar Big Date now gets a whole new glow by adopting the full design codes of the new L.U.C aesthetic. The moon phase is so accurate that the difference between the true lunar cycle and the indication given by the timepiece amounts to just one day every 122 years.

The vision of the Moon seen from Earth changes in time with its rotation: its visible side may be completely lit up by the Sun (full Moon), entirely plunged into darkness (new Moon) or only partially illuminated (various moon phases). The interval between two identical moon phases – called a month or a syndical revolution – is equivalent to 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds.

Achieving such accuracy in a wristwatch is an extremely complex feat to which Chopard Manufacture has risen with significant talent. The L.U.C Lunar Big Date is endowed with an extremely precise device in which the wheel driving the moon-bearing disc comprises 135 teeth.

The indication is so precise that the discrepancy between the mechanism and the real lunar cycle amounts to just one day in 122 years. The various moon phases are visible for both Northern and Southern hemispheres through a particularly large aperture ensuring easy readability. In addition, the Northern part of the disc features the Big Dipper constellation, while the Southern part displays the Southern Cross.

This exceptional timepiece will surely be the perfect match for every watch connoisseur, adding an elegant note to any business outfit, as well as a sophisticated and classy touch to a more casual suit on a romantic dinner under the moonlight with your beloved one.
