EDOX – Les Bémonts Open Vision

EDOX Les Bémonts Open Vision NEW

Stylish Open Vision reveals watchmakers’ art

Boutique family owned Swiss watch- maker Edox has been producing exceptional timepieces for 130 years - and the Open Vision automatic is the latest striking addition to its classy Les Bémonts range.

With a new, elegant case design, the Les Bémonts Open Vision automatic gives the wearer a glimpse into the watchmakers’ art, with an “open heart” window at 6 o’clock revealing the balance wheel of the intricate mechanical workings inside. The caseback, too, is fully transparent, revealing the mesmerising Swiss automatic mechanical movement.

By turning the movement 180 degrees and positioning the crown on the left side of the case, Edox has created the perfect, stylish, easy-to-wear watch for any occasion.

Water-resistant to 3 aTM (30 m), the 42 mm Open Vision is constructed of super-tough stainless steel. Founded in 1884 by gifted watchmaker Christian Rufli-Flury, Edox has been at the forefront of horological innovation and imaginative, beautiful, highly engineered, precision timepieces ever since.

Today the Les Genevez-based watch- maker is official timekeeper for the world’s most gruelling motorsport event, the Dakar Rally, the extreme Sailing Series and last year became involved in the more sedate, but no less intense, sport of curling as official time- keeper for the world Curling Federation.

With 2014 marking Edox’s 130th anniversary, the company is releasing special updated editions of several of its most influential timepieces; the Les Bémonts Open Vision automatic, the revolutionary 1970’s worldTimer watch, the Geoscope, and its classic dive watch, the Hydro Sub.

This magnificent timepiece is in fact the work of a duet, an intertwining of generations almost a century apart. Reynold Dubois, a dedicated watchmaker and Pierre’s grandfather, no doubt helped breathe life into this extraordinary mechanism. The story begins in 1920. at the tender age of 20, fresh from school, Reynold Dubois set off to study under the highly talented Jacques-David lecoultre. he was soon singled out for his exceptional abilities, and would organise and head the workshops of the manufacture in le sentier, before being assigned to milan, then Paris.

Two generations later and it became his grandson’s turn to give a new lease on life to this unique piece, thanks to a lucky twist of fate. a few years ago, Pierre came across a treasure while browsing at an antique dealer’s: some lecoultre ébauches and movements made in the late 19th and early 20th century, including a grande complication from around 1920. an intuition? more a certainty.

Pierre bought the entire batch and made these exceptional movements his own. soberly titled reynold, this grande complication is a vibrant homage to his grandfather and a very personal way to mark these first ten years for Pierre Deroche.
