Girard-Perregaux - Sea Hawk 1000 “Big Blue” Limited Edition

World Oceans Day Celebration with Susan and David Rockefeller, Jr. Presented by Girard-Perregaux

New York, NY (May 15, 2012)- Susan and David Rockefeller, Jr.will celebrate World Oceans Day in New YorkCity on June 5, 2012 from 6-9pm at The Museum of Modern Art, in partnership with the iconic, luxury Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux. Avid environmental conservationists, Susan and David created this event to celebrate the world’s oceans and raise public awareness to the plight of ocean health and the need for its protection.

The evening includes a special screening, and the New York City premiere, of Susan’s most recent documentary film, Mission of Mermaids. A true love letter to the ocean, this 15-minute call to action views the ocean through the eyes of the mythical mermaid, and explores ocean acidification, overfishing and pollution. The film delivers a message of hope that provokes viewers to rethink how they relate to their global waters.

Presented by Girard-Perregaux, the sentiment of the night is to “Protect what is Precious” which relates both to the state of the world’s oceans and the rare art of fine watchmaking. In honor of the evening and of Susan and David’s efforts, Girard-Perregaux will launch a limited edition timepiece. The Seahawk 1000 Big Blue” features a steel case and blue rubber strap with blue highlights on the dial and showing the world map, the focus of this important cause.

The evening atMoMAalso coincides with the launch of Susan’sjewelry collection, inspired by Susan’s love of the ocean, which is now available at www.susanrockefeller.com. Susan Rockefeller jewelry is designed to start the conversation and engage people in creative dialogue about the oceans. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Oceana.

“Time is truly the only limited and precious resource that we have in this world,” describes Susan Rockefeller. “The message that Girard-Perregaux, David and I are sharing is that by giving our oceans time to rest and replenish with simple acts of thoughtfulness, they can continue to provide a bounty of necessities for human life.”

“We are very proud to have partnered with Susan and David to celebrate World Oceans Day”, says Sowind (Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard) CEO Michele Sofisti. “The clock is ticking. We need to act fast, now, in order to protect our oceans. We have a limited amount of resources available for human consumption, a fact we seem to have let pass by. It is time to raise even more the awareness about this critical issue.”

As a direct result of his work on the Pew Oceans Commission coupled with his more than 40 years of experienced sailing, David founded Sailors for the Sea, anonprofit organization to galvanize the sailing and boating community around ocean health issues. Sailors for the Sea’s core programs, which include Clean Regattas, Ocean Watch Essays, Certified Sea Friendly, and Rainy Day Kits, are designed to connect knowledge with action. David is also the Chairman of The Rockefeller Foundation.

In addition to her documentary film efforts and jewelry design, Susan sits on the board for Oceana and the global leadership council for the NRDC, as well as the Program Committee for Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. She and David have co-chaired the Christie’s Green Auction for three years, while Girard-Perregaux has created unique timepieces for auction. The Christie’s Green Auction has raisednearly $6 million in support of environmental charities.

Breitling - Navitimer Cosmonaute Celebrates the 50th Anniversary

Breitling - Navitimer Cosmonaute Celebrates the 50th Anniversary  Chronograph Limited Edition NEW

LT Commander Scott Carpenter

On May 24th 1962, Lt Commander Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. On his wrist was a Breitling Navitimer.

Breitling celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first spacegoing wrist chronograph

On May 24th 1962, a Breitling Navitimer chronograph became the first wrist instrument to share in the conquest of space by accompanying the Aurora 7 flight. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historical feat, the brand is launching into orbit a new Navitimer Cosmonaute equipped with a highperformance Manufacture Breitling movement, entirely developed and produced in the company workshops. This 1,962-piece limited edition is distinguished by its 24-hour display, its manualwinding mode – two nods to the original 1962 chronograph – as well as the Aurora 7 mission insignia engraved on the caseback. Navitimer Cosmonaute. The legend continues.

MAIDEN SPACE FLIGHT

The early 1960s were all about the space race. The Americans launched the Mercury program intended to develop manned flights. They were looking for a high-performance, accurate and reliable chronograph capable of withstanding exceptional conditions. With this in mind, they naturally turned to Breitling, the “official supplier to world aviation” and a privileged partner of the finest hours in aeronautical history. The Navitimer, the cult pilot’s watch created in 1952, with its famous circular slide rule serving to perform all operations relating to airborne navigation, naturally asserted itself as the ideal instrument in taking up this challenge. It successfully passed all the required tests, and on May 24th 1962, Lt Commander Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. On his wrist was a Navitimer equipped with a 24-hour graduated scale serving to distinguish day from night – an absolute necessity in space. Mission accomplished. This was a major new token of recognition for Breitling, and this space conquest pioneer soon entered the brand’s collections under the name of Cosmonaute.

THE ENGINE
DRIVING THE ACCOMPLISHMENT

The new Manufacture Breitling Caliber 02 powering the Navitimer Cosmonaute stands out by its 24-hour display and its manual-winding system – two distinctive features echoing the model that accompanied Scott Carpenter in orbiting the Earth. It was developed by the Breitling engineers and watchmakers based on Caliber 01, the world’s best chronograph movement, and is endowed with all the assets of this exceptional “engine” – including an original column-wheel structure, maximum reliability, security and functionality, unfaltering sturdiness and exceptional precision confirmed by a chronometer certificate granted by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).

Issued in a 1,962-piece Limited Edition, the 50th anniversary Navitimer Cosmonaute features a black dial with silver counters. The dial motif is created using the refined “par épargne” process on a sterling silver base, thereby guaranteeing the peerless radiance and readability of the indications. In addition to the Aurora 7 mission insignia, the engraved caseback also carries a Celsius/Fahrenheit conversion scale – another detail faithful to the design of the vintage Navitimer models.

Parmigiani - Tonda 1950 Special Edition

Parmigiani - Tonda 1950 Special Edition

Its number “1950” represents the year of Michel Parmigiani's birth. The design of its four lugs, round and ergonomic, goes back to the brand's origins. Inspired by the spiral shape, these instantly recognisable features now represent the brand's identity code. This piece was chosen for its clean lines, fine profile and the clarity of its proportions - three fundamental criteria of the Parmigiani style.

The dial reveals the beauty of the mechanics. Its concentric circular "grille" shape, made using the LIGA* technique, reveals glimpses of the gear trains.

 Parmigiani - Movement - PF701

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....     BIG FOTO

Its Calibre PF 701 movement, manufactured entirely in-house in the brand's workshops, is currently one of the thinnest in watchmaking. With its 42-hour power reserve, a 30mm diameter (13 ¼ lignes) and a thickness of just 2.6mm, the movement has an off-centre oscillating micro-weight made from 950 platinum. The Haute Horlogerie finishes make it a prestigious calibre. The nickel silver main plate is sand-blasted, circular-grained and then rhodium-plated. The bridges are sand-blasted, rubbed-down or "Côte de Genève" decorated, and, finally, rhodium-plated.

TAG Heuer - AQUARACER 500M "Team USA"CALIBRE 16 CHRONOGRAPH

TAG Heuer - AQUARACER 500M "Team USA" CALIBRE 16 AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH

“Master of seas”: TAG Heuer’s commitment to watersports runs deep
From its first water-resistant patent in 1895 to the newest line of Aquaracers

TAG Heuer’s competitive sailing launches include the Yacht Timer stopwatch (1930), the Solunar (1949), a tide-reading watch with a lunar dial; the Seafarer (1950), the world's first chronographs with tide and regatta indicators; the Navia (1955), a boat dashboard clock; the Aquastar Regatta (1965); and the automatic Skipper sailing chronograph (1972).
In 1980 the brand launched the 1000, a series of regatta and diving watches. This was followed in 1982 by the 2000 Collection, a series of professional diving watches that is the predecessor of today's famous Aquaracer line. In the 80’s, it co-launched the Spirotechnique line with Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s diving company. The Aquaracer, however, launched in 2002, is the line that established the brand’s prowess on and in the water. Among the many standout editions in the Aquaracer series is the revolutionary Aquaracer Calibre S (2005), the first analog regatta chronograph to display both time and chronograph using central hour, minute and second hands, and the Aquaracer 500m Calibre 5 (2009), a diving chronograph with automatic helium valve that is water resistant to 500 meters.
On the water, TAG Heuer’s record is unrivalled. In 1967, it was the Official Timekeeper of Intrepid, the America’s Cup winner. In 1983, it launched the Formule TAG, one of the first kevlar and carbon fiber catamarans. Helmed by sailing legend Mike Birch, it set the world record for the longest distance covered in 24 hours, logging up 524 miles during one lap of the Quebec – Saint-Malo race in 1984. In 1993, “Le TAG Heuer”, the world’s biggest monohull, was skippered by the French mariner Tituan Lamazou during the Jules Verne Trophy. In 1995, the TAG Heuer Challenge (NZL59) skippered by Chris Dickson, reached the Vuitton Cup semifinals. In 2002, TAG Heuer and Oracle BMW Racing Team were narrowly outpaced by Alinghi in the 31st America’s Cup. In 2005, the brand hosted the "Trophée TAG Heuer Aquaracer" in St-Tropez, France, and became official chronograph, timekeeper and sunglasses partner of the China Team Challenge, the first Chinese team to vie for a challenger spot in the America's Cup.

America’s Cup: the most prestigious events in international sailing
TAG Heuer will be present at all stages of Oracle Racing’s defense of the 34th America’s Cup, starting with the remaining matches in the new America's Cup World Series, which will be run in various world venues in 2012, and 2013. TAG Heuer will assist with the Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup challenger selection series, and, finally, the America’s Cup Match, which will see Oracle Racing pitted against a single challenger. Both the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America’s Cup Match final will be held in San Francisco in 2013.
TAG Heuer & Team USA
At the San Diego press conference, Russell Coutts, Jimmy Spithill and Jean-Christopher Babin were wearing a special Team USA edition of the Aquaracer 500m Chronograph. The first chronograph in the Aquaracer 500M line, it has the same professional safety features, wide-diameter case (44mm) and stylish strap in black rubber, but its black dial is engraved with the Team USA shield. Its robust, functional design and features address very specific demands: great visibility, extreme reliance and easy handling when sailing. Power and strength for ultimate performance, the Aquaracer 500m Chronograph is a perfect match for Russell and Jimmy — it has the same DNA.

The other members of the Oracle Racing team wore Aquaracer models with a special digital countdown function and TAG Heuer Eyewear from the Racer Collection. The RACER is ideal for high seas — its curved, wrap-around shape enhances comfort and ergonomics, and the frame and temples in very light composite material provide optimum lightness. The Oracle Racing Racer edition is equipped with Watersports lenses, a blue polarized, hydrophobic and oleophobic lens with 5 layers of anti-reflection, for utmost precision and protection.

America’s Cup: a test of prowess for TAG Heuer & Oracle Racing
“This is going to be a great adventure, both in human and technological terms,” said TAG Heuer’s President and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin. “Oracle Racing and TAG Heuer are two of most historic brands in this prestigious event, which represents the pinnacle of ocean-going performance. Our designers and engineers are working together to make this the best-equipped crew ever. And we’re setting our sights high: we want to break every record ever set, both for man and machine.”
Join 2013 America’s Cup adventure with Aquaracer “Team USA” Limited Editions, as worn by the ORACLE Team USA athletes.
These timepieces combine all the professional safety features of the range and come with special racing red touches. Both watch and chronograph proudly salute the ORACLE Team USA colours with the red of the hand-applied “Team USA” or “DEFENDER” logos, the helium valve, and the hands—all standing out boldly against the vertical wave pattern of the black dial.
The Calibre 5 43mm watch, worn by all the ORACLE Team USA crew, has a sapphire crystal case back embellished with team logo in black printed lettering.
The Calibre 16 44mm chronograph will be put to the test by legendary skippers Russell Coutts and Jimmy Spithill.
It comes with a special case back stamped with the iconic ORACLE Team USA boat.

Hublot - King Power Usain Bolt

Hublot - King Power Usain Bolt NEW

Jamaican sprinter Usain “Lightning” Bolt became known as the world’s fastest man back in 2008, when he won a gold medal and set new Olympic records at the summer games in Beijing. Now, as Bolt prepares to defend his title this year in London, he will have his own personalized Hublot watch to record his lap times: the King Power Usain Bolt.

The new watch, which was designed in collaboration with the Olympic athlete and contains Hublot’s HUB4100 chronograph movement, incorporates several signature elements that are representative of Bolt. On the dial, a silhouette of Bolt in his recognizable sprint pose is applied in anthracite gray transfer atop a black background in the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. In the 12-hour chronograph subdial at 6 o’clock, the numbers and indices are in the green color of the Jamaican flag. The dial also has a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and date window at 4:30.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

The huge, predominantly black, 48-mm King Power case is made of micro-blasted ceramic. Touches of gold, the color of Bolt’s “lucky” running shoes, are evident on the dial (whose flange features a 2n gold powder coating) and the strap, which sports an outside layer of the same gold-colored synthetic leather as Bolt’s shoes stitched onto Hublot-standard black rubber. The Bolt silhouette figure is also inscribed on the sapphire caseback window.
The watch will be a limited series of 250 numbered pieces, priced at $24,000 each.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

Bolt, who turns 25 this year, is off to a good start in his quest to defend his three titles, in the 100, 200, and 4×100 meter events, this summer in London. He recently completed his first individual 100 meters in just 9.82 seconds at Kington, Jamaica’s National Stadium, beating 2011′s season-opening time of 9.91 seconds.
Hublot chairman Jean-Claude Biver, cleverly referencing Hublot’s other popular watch models, said,”It is perfectly natural to be associated with the fastest man, not just on the planet, but the fastest since the Big Bang.”

David Yurman - Revolution Shelby 1000

David Yurman - Revolution Shelby 1000 Limited Edition NEW

Watch-and-jewelry designer David Yurman, famous for his signature cable bracelet, has teamed up with muscle-car visionary Carroll Shelby, creator of the legendary Shelby Cobra, to create Yurman’s first limited-edition sports watch, the David Yurman Revolution Shelby 1000.
The Shelby watch, which is available in two case versions — one in stainless steel and one “all-black” model with black PVD —  is the centerpiece of David Yurman’s recently introduced family of sports watches, called Revolution. It celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby American brand, founded by Carroll Shelby, which produced the Cobra and other high-performance sports cars that tore up the worldwide auto racing circuit in the 1960s and early 1970s. The release of the watch coincides with the introduction of the new Shelby 1000 Mustang, described by the company as its most powerful car to date. The watch features a 43.5-mm case with rubber side insets and is powered by an ETA/Valjoux 7753 automatic chronograph movement. The bezel includes an engraved tachymeter scale, a useful feature for professional and weekend racers who want to log their lap times.
The multi-layered, galvanic dial sports an engraved Shelby Cobra insignia, which has been finished by hand, and is accented by vertical guilloché racing stripes. The pattern on the textured rubber strap is inspired by an actual cobra’s belly. (Click on pictures for larger images.)
